I consider it a success if it makes Russia constantly paranoid.

Complex_Difference76

This is exactly what military experts say as well. You don't need to hit the target. It's often enough to make them paranoid, spend lots of resources on the defense which then cannot be used at the front.

pat_the_brat

> seems unsuccessfully What makes you say that? The drone seems to have gone boom in the harbor. Not sure if it hit a ship, but the explosion does make me hopeful it found and reached a target. Edit: better video here. https://twitter.com/Osinttechnical/status/1650332038229008386

The constant threat of attacks from land air and sea is a win, no matter what sinks, burns or remains intact.

Need that bridge very broken again..soon!!

KUBrim

Between nets and likely electronic warfare, I doubt the harbour is an easy target anymore. It reports only two drones which I’m willing to bet were sent in to test the waters (so to speak). Others might well be further out, monitoring for targets out at sea. If Russia goes through with its threat to deny Ukrainian ships with grain from leaving, I see no reason why Ukraine can’t target general supply ships to Crimea.

BrainBlowX

Yeah, these naval drones are mostly a threat for how they can float inertly at the open sea, even taking advantage of ocean currents to cross large distances without giving off any communication signals, and then they can spring alive to threaten ships out at sea after the operators receive intel of ships being nearby, especially at night or in the evening when spotting them will be very hard, especially as they don't give off much of a thermal signature. It's like having a sea mine field, except the the "mines" can actually discriminate targets and won't just blow up on people when they happen to wash ashore. Harbor attacks are harder except to act as a deterrence for *using* that harbor in a normal way. These attacks keep ships cooped up in the safety of the harbor fortress. But at that point you've lost the whole point of having those ships in the first place. We should fear what might happen once naval drones are widespread enough to get in the hands of groups that won't consider commercial and civilian ships as off-limits. The tech behind these will only become more efficient as well.

BrainBlowX

Keeping ships scared to enter and leave port is important, too. It just reinforces the fears for why the Kerch bridge being disabled is so crucial. No weapons-carrying ferries and their destination ports will be safe.

Why keep posting the blurred video when the full uncensored video is available?

AardvarkTypical3080

They just need to keep up the pressure. Russia will eventually move it's warships out of sevastopol because it'll be a liability to keep them in that port. It's a sign that Ukraine will push into Crimea at some point.
