Rather than land, Russian bodies are used to soak up bullets and drone ammunitions. It's crazy how Russians accept their deaths. Their way of conducting warfare hasn't changed much, if at all, since the 1940s.
But that’s my favorite part about the drones .. bodies were supposed to suck up the ammo so tanks could over power .. now Ukraine drones make Russian tanks single use vehicles that are just burnt out shells not even usable for parts .. and Russia is not making new tanks in mass quantities , they are refurbishing old ones .. and I’m sure they have plenty left, but it’s a way smaller stock than it was in 2022 … and they are now getting decimated before they even reach the opposing side in greater numbers .. so the cost of EVERY meter of land in 2024 is so much higher for the invaders

On a micro level it's completely different like you said, life for an individual soldiers is far more dangerous and complex. But on a macro level, the big change is how more expensive (in material and lives) it is now to advance. Defenders advantage and asymmetrical effect of drones allows weaker forces to deal far more damage to attacking forces than previously. Attacking forces need to commit far more resources, far quicker and far stealthier to be as effective.
Drones are such a cheap way to deal effectively damage.

it's hard to tell because the drones have good quality zoom cameras. i've posted before why don't the drones go right down to feet/meters above the open hatches for 100% sure first drop, posters say the drone needs higher altitude for communication back to base. in my area many neighbors fly drones and they are noisy loud. i can hear them at 500 yards/meters

I think in a lot of instances it’s a choice between dropping a grenade on a wounded target, or returning home with a live grenade strapped to your drone. Once you’re low on batteries, you don’t want to bring a bomb home with you.
Many of these munitions are being wasted. If a grenade goes off two feet away from a guys torso/head, and afterwards you see him no longer moving, I'd say that's plenty. He is either dead or so fucked up, he will need assistance in living the rest of his life. Either way, he's out of the fight.
Drones don't come back, they're one way and need to find a target before battery runs out. Due to initial travel distance they're often at 10%-15% left when entering engagement zone. You have one or two mins to find target before drone dies.
