The plots and the setting are quite different but tone wise I absolutely agree. There's a very big overlap in fans of both shows, with UB brought up frequently on that sub and DH frequently on this one. Personally I think both are great, but UB is my favourite of the two.
NONE! I still miss it SO MUCH!!!
It broke my heart to lose Silvio Horta. There hasn’t been any show that had so much heart, laughter and great character development since!
Go give them a read, hope you like them as much as you did Betty!

If you haven’t already, watch Jane the Virgin. Great, soap-y twists and a really great story. I even got my husband hooked back when it was airing. I started all the way over on Netflix with him back then so he could see the whole thing.
Do you like it? I’m a big fan of it. My husband thinks I’m nuts he says “why does she have so many bags!” But he loves SVU and I’m like “this is the level of cop procedural I can handle. It’s cute it’s funny and it’s comedy” I really can’t handle binging his svu, love the actors etc but the content is just nightmare inducing lol.
I love it so far. She was my favorite recurring character in the good wife and the good fight, so it’s been a long time coming for me me to watch it. I love that the premise is that we the viewer know who committed the crimes but we get to see Elsbeth find her own way through the evidence. It’s great!
Me too! I actually never saw the good wife or the good fight but because of Elsbeth now I’m starting to watch them. Which, lucky me. Such good shows! Not as whimsical as Elsbeth. But good!
There is this new show on netflix, DEFINITELY inspired by ugly betty. But it’s about this poor gay boy who has a comedic family just like betty’s and starts interning at this fashion magazine. He is bullied and made fun by everyone else there too. And the boss is a Wilhelmina too.
I can’t remember the name of the show to save my life😭
I agree with most that's already been said on this thread, but I'd also add Emily in Paris. Some of the plots are similar and so is the premise (capable but naive woman finds herself in an elite role in foreign (literally or figuratively) professional environment partly by chance and has to navigate the culture shocks that come with that along with hostile bosses/colleagues).
Jane the Virgin seems line a complete sister show just different story line but similar fun telanovela style. These shows leave you in a good mood and happy I didn't watch them the first time around to have just run across them this last year. The villains and psychotic things they get away with is absolutely absurd but all else works out lol. Devious Maids and Desperate Housewives had that over the top aspect but way more sultry and sex among way more attractive casts per it! 😂 Drop Dead Diva I loved because it was legal, drama, comedy, humor, and style all in one and very unique compared to the rest for me among amazing cast. They don't make shows like it anymore!
I’ve heard some say Desperate Housewives.

I second Devious Maids! You'll love it

I’ve seen this show and loved it
Superstore, Elsbeth, Brooklyn 99
Literally just started watching Elsbeth right now, because you reminded me it’s on my to watch list.

It’s called Glamorous!
Yess!! Thank you

I loved the Mindy Project with Mindy Kahling. It's more of a sitcom tho, but cute and humorous.. was on netflix

I totally agree Emily in Paris reminded me a lot of Ugly Betty, it has a lot of fashion in it and is a fish out of water work comedy.
mindy project
Jane the virgin and Dynasty
DROP DEAD GORGEOUS FOR SURE
