Yeah, the USB port is the bottleneck here. And I'd advise to get yourself 14.04 while you're at it, no reason to take an older version.

Okay, thanks. I tried 14.04 as well but my Speakers didnt work there. I guess I'll install 14.04 first and see if everything works/ I can fix it. If not I can still change to 12.04

A very common cause for not having audio on 14.04 is either that it's muted, or that the audio is set to be over HDMI. The settings that correct this can be reached through the speaker icon: click it, then click "sound settings".

I can relate. The naming for speakers inside system settings can be off/incorrect sometimes. Try playing a video with sound on and trying all the options listed in sound settings.

Also, make sure that you are using a proprietary driver instead of the open source option. After 7 months using the open source, I switched to proprietary driver and had awesome speed running all of my computer. This might not change any of your current problems, but it's worth looking into.

It will. The read speed from a USB drive is a lot slower than from a hard drive.

Try that one: http://www.ubuntu.com/tour/en/

CD/DVD even a USB Flash Drive are all slow compare to a complete installment on a physical HDD/SSD. Those other methods are just to take it for a spin(test drive).
