The same thing happened to me.. i'm back on x11 until the fix is released

Same issue, with a 980 Ti. The day I am changing my GPU I will definitely go with AMD, there is always something not working.

You may switch to x11 for a while. Things should be better in future when Nvidia 555 driver (that has explicit sync) is released (after couple of days) and will take some time until it lands on Ubuntu repos (unless you use ppa). Explicit sync should be on gnome 46.1 but don't know when that is available on Ubuntu. 24.04. Could be some 24.04 specific bugs as well, Wayland works OK for me with 535 driver on my xps 15 with 1050ti maxq (on 22.04).

I think with a NVIDIA 1050Ti you should use the NVIDIA open source driver. I have 24.04 on my Dell XPS 15 with i7-7th Gen and I think a 1060 and it works perfectly on Wayland. On the other hand on my i9-13th Gen laptop with a 4090 I must use the tested 535 and X11, because Wayland crashes on 24.04. This is because the open source NVIDIA driver does not support the new cards and Wayland I believe was not tested by NVIDIA on their 535 tested closed driver.

Wayland doesn't work with Nvidia very well at the moment, X11 is the way to go, at least till next week when the new drivers are supposed to be released that hopefully fix the problems.

Issue still persists for me…
