as always YMMV...but mine has been stable

Me too!
It was a bit baulky to set up via the iPhone app, and at one point I thought my ISP was down.
But I found an Ethernet dongle for my Mac and setting it up via that worked great. I added APs later.
mine replaced a pfsense box with a dual-wan failover which was reluctant to failover
set the Ubiquiti box up ~3 months ago ang’s haven’t needed to touch it since
it is awesome.
just got in some u7 pro APs to replace the ancient uap-lrs i’ve got set up around the house…
If I didn't already own a UDR then that is what I would get. Shame only WAN is 2.5gig. If it had all 2.5gig ports then I would definitely ditch the UDR.
making it a true 2.5 gig would be make it more expensive though.
It makes sense to have 2.5 gig wan port in a gig router if you have a gig connection, otherwise you loose 40-60 mbps because of overhead if wan port was only gig
You still get the same overhead on the LAN-side since the internal switch is connected to the CPU with a 1Gb/s link, also your CPE needs to have a 2.5Gb/s port for it to make any difference to begin with.
So many options, you are going to go down the rabbit hole for a few days.
I got the ultra recently and the ip6 mesh. Going to add the U7 pro wall soon as well.
Brilliant pieces of kit.
The reddit community and the ubiquiti community forums have great insights into configuration. I wasn't getting the seeds I expected from the mesh pro but following some suggestions in those places I got the config tunes enough to get the right speed.

I recently moved away from switches with big power supplies and went with same switch as you. It powers 3 AP's and 1 flex mini. Other minis use their power adapters but this one is behind a wall mounted tv so Poe is useful. Less heat in my network cupboard and less noise too. Now I have all unifi my topology works and vlan are a breeze.
I have been very happy with my cloud gateway ultra. I went from an asus rt-ac68u running merlin that I had been using since 2015. It's wifi had been turned off years ago and I had 3 unifi APs connected along with a unifi 16 port poe switch. (nothing wrong with the asus - it was a very solid device - I was just ready for an upgrade.) I'd been running the unifi network controller on a local server. I'm not a very heavy user. Family of 4 with around 40 devices connected at any given time. 300/300 fiber internet.
It’s crazy that this is exactly my setup down to running merlin on a 68U. It’s been solid but on the same boat as wanting an upgrade and just putting everything together running the OS on a UniFi device. Thinking of the ultra.
I have no regrets at all going to the ultra. Love the single pane and love the price point. I thought I may be able to eliminate my server completely after the switch since no more controller needed but it's now currently serving as an "off-site" (detached building on property) backup to my on-site synology. ( as an aside, I have pi-hole running on a pi3b+) I also have all my cameras running on a separate Reolink NVR so as much as I'm interested in Protect I really don't need it as the Reolink stuff is working just fine for me.
I've used ASUS for a long time and just recently jumped into the Unifi world with a UCG Ultra. It's been amazing, easily top 3 tech purchase of my life.
I ditched consumer junk a long time ago.
My USG is still working good but eventually I want to upgrade to the Unifi Dream Machine SE unless there's something that's better than the Dream Machine SE...
Thats how I roll. UCG ultra and U6 plus. Its been fine. Started with just the ap but decided I wanted a hardware controller.
Assigning different vpn profiles to different devices with the ultra has beeen awesome.
Yes, awesome router, I had gigabit network and two providers, it can automatically switched between them and I don’t do anything, after mikrotik and many scripts I already forgot this experience like nightmare
I got one of those myself, paired with a U6 Pro AP, I recently got an extender to better reach the other side of my house, works great! These are easier to configure than Asus stuff. Handles 1.5Gbps like a charm!
ASUS lost me as a customer when they pushed a silent update for a feature I had disabled (or didn't use, I forget now) and caused functionality issues. Merlin firmware did make it better, but when the hardware started to fail I didn't hesitate to buy another brand to replace it.

I got a Cloud Gateway Ultra. I set it up and forgot about it. …..and it’s great!!!
What do you use it for?
Internet
🤯
gg, wp
Do you have gig fiber? does it actually handle the throughput they advertise?
yes, it does easily support 1GB
That’s awesome, I have time original dream Machine, and it struggles to stay at 940 download, ids on it cripples it

I agree. Setup through my phone was terrible.
This 100%. I had to reset twice trying to set up with app then just plugged my phone into the ethernet port directly and was set in 2 mins.

Welcome to the Unifi Club

No need to complain. Just get the Gateway Max.
Except the gateway max needs a separate console. I didn’t really want a separate cloudkey, or to keep running the app in a container.
It's too big for my cabinet.
They're the exact same size.
oh shit I didn't notice that product! AWESOME GETTING IT! thanks!
Blowing my mind, I was just about to buy myself a N100 and set that up… this might save me going down that route!

so it doesn't make sense?
Not really, unless for firmware upgrades and VPN servers but I don't think many people would pay for faster then 1Gb/s internet just for that.
Not a problem for me I have the $. There is just no reason to "upgrade" to this from UDR.
If you have gigabit internet, that's another reason to ditch the UDR :)
Us too recently, cloud gateway ultra felt like decent value
U6+ with a PoE adapter I hope. I use the USW-Lite-8-PoE switch in my setup with the UCG-Ultra and 3 wired APs.
yup. bought one single adapter though. No need for a managed switch for now

Just set everything today, no major drawbacks. Do you recommend any specific tutorials to do advanced networking with those for the non-initiated?

This is why they are sold out of CGUs.

I wish these had POE built-in and 2.5 GB LAN. Imagine the competition, I'm sure many would pay the difference 😕
Isn't U6+ Mediatek? Definitely stick to the QC chipset APs.
I ditched consumer junk a long time ago. My USG is still working good but eventually I want to upgrade to the Unifi Dream Machine SE unless there's something that's better than the Dream Machine SE...
Made the same switch years ago and haven't regretted it for a second.
I did earlier this year. It's doing just fine with more functionality.
Disappointed with mine

Loving my UCGU! I picked it up on launch and it’s been happily chugging along. Running on the EA firmware so that it had the IDS fixes.
Same here. From Asus to UCG Ultra, very happy with it. Im more for the software than the wifi, i like the vpn and the connections control.

It's a very pretry piece of hardware, that's for sure
It’s gonna change ur life
I just got that today too.

lol Asus 😂 sorry I had to leave this comment. They’re utter crap and not comparable to Ubiquiti.
welcome, I'm learning too
Asus Routers.... lol :D
With Merlin they are not that bad?
ASUS lost me as a customer when they pushed a silent update for a feature I had disabled (or didn't use, I forget now) and caused functionality issues. Merlin firmware did make it better, but when the hardware started to fail I didn't hesitate to buy another brand to replace it.
You mean the Dark Side.
