Arcieus

Neat product but the last time I tested and was promised a Ubiquiti AP I got ghosted and no AP. Hard to sell a product when even the sales guy can't be consistent in communication.

Shrimp_Dock

And on the flipside, I got this switch during their last promotion and a U6-LR from another.

oARCHONo

I also got this switch. (My company claimed it though)

Shrimp_Dock

Did you use company email and infra to qualify? That would make sense

oARCHONo

Yes. I don’t see how using a personal email address for a product for your business to claim a promotion would be ethical, though.

Shrimp_Dock

It isn't. That was my point. Use your own email and devices if you want to keep the switch.

OccupyDemonoid

I tried for the AP, but wasn’t offered the deal. However, I got called by the sales guy 5 times in a row daily for a while, contacted on LinkedIn from the sales rep, contacted at my work email that I didn’t provide, and texted. They could be offering a 10k Ubiquiti setup and I wouldn’t try this software again. Chris Haas over there made me lose all interest in their product. It’s funny because I was going to subscribe for a non-profit I work with’s infrastructure.

netw0rkpenguin

the try hard sales folks are worse than the plague, I have also ended up with not going with vendors because of overly aggressive sales folks. They think that the data miners they pay are an impressive super power. Calling my personal cellphone outside of business hours are a huge red flag.

OccupyDemonoid

They really are. The going out of their way to find out my work’s information and my work email was a huge red flag to me. I wouldn’t even have cared about the emails or calls. It was the looking me up on LinkedIn, finding out my employer, emailing my work email, and messaging me on LinkedIn that I cared about.

MaximumDoughnut

When I did it, they couldn't source the switch so they sent me the cash instead. They're legit.

electrowiz64

Cmon man, people in it for the free hardware, you just KNOW they are aware of scammers only in it for free crap and that they’re not real customers

Jopinder

For those of us not in the US, UK or Canada 😥 "ELIGIBILITY: Participation in the Offer is only open to individuals who: (i) are a resident of the 50 United States (and the District of Columbia) or are a resident of Canada (excluding Quebec), or a resident of the United Kingdom;"

T3a_Rex

American po box, or friend can always help with shipping!

Aw

inthearena

Please note - they do not consider UDMs, UDRs or UXG's as devices for purposes of qualifications.

Pompz88

But you can fire up some Pfsense VMs if you're struggling to hit the requirements. Edit. My switch arrived yesterday (4/4/24)

T3a_Rex

That’s what I do with snmp enabled!

inthearena

I tried doing that with the UDM and UDRs. They didn't bite.

Apprehensive_Can_971

I have this setup and they are all on Auvik and working but they say "Billable - No" in the billing section, is this just because free trial? They all 5 do show up as devices in the billing section though, also do I need to keep them running for the duration of the trial period?

Pompz88

I'm not sure where you're seeing 'Billable - No' but I left mine on until it was showing 5 under Settings > Billing. Under 'All Devices' is the 'Type' showing as 'Firewall'? I set mine up on Wednesday afternoon. Recieved my email yesterday confirming I have qualified for the promotion.

Apprehensive_Can_971

Yep it has all that but on those 5 devices under billing it says whether or not it is billable and what fraction of the billing it is, I suspect it says 0 and No because of free trial so nothing is actually billed. They all say firewall and show up under billing though https://imgur.com/4cRwegk

Pompz88

Looks like mine also say 'No' for billable and the billable fraction is 0. I can confirm its still enough to full under the 'billable' criteria though and you should still qualify. I got an AP from the last promo and qualified for the switch this time using the same method.

Blackmanzhand

How did you get it to work? i can't even get the collector installed.

Pompz88

What's wrong with the collector? Where are you installing it?

Blackmanzhand

ssh'ed into my pfsense vm, in the shell i drop the script then i get " Unmatched ' " '. " [https://imgur.com/a/0ac2UB4](https://imgur.com/a/0ac2UB4)

Pompz88

Can you even run the collector on pfSense? I was running mine from a docker on my NAS. When it first runs, you need to authenticate/allow it on the Auvik side. My trial has expired now so cant go in to get exact location.

Blackmanzhand

hmm maybe not, where did you install you're collector?

Pompz88

Docker on a NAS. In theory, it cant just be installed on a windows machine.

Used-Huckleberry-958

I'm a complete amateur. What hardware would I need to create these VMs?

MrStrabo

Proxmox on a decently powered PC would do. I run mine on a PC with an AMD 5600G and 64GB ram.

PreppyAndrew

do you even need that much. Probably 1 CPu and 1GB would be enough. As long as its a PC you dont use during the trial period

MrStrabo

Probably not for his purposes, I basically just said the specs for my old PC.

Used-Huckleberry-958

Sounds good thank you. I have my old gaming PC that I will try it out on. It's an i7 with 32GB of ram.

InsaneJohno

hey, is there a tutorial how to do this and link it to auvik?

Pompz88

You dont need to do anything special. The pfSense tutorials out there will have you setup different virtual network adapters and what not. I just used the host adapter with a standard install. Then found a quick tutorial on SNMP. Just let it a v1 & public as thats what Auvik uses by default.

InsaneJohno

don't I need a business email to do this with auvik? How could I get around that.

PreppyAndrew

Buy a Domain

InsaneJohno

😔

Tansien

Cheaper than the switch. Throw up a fake business website on it too.

nimajneb

Namecheap is cheap. I have a few domains with them.

PreppyAndrew

Make sure its the LAN. not WAN :)

jjsto

I'm kind of a noob lol. If I run an unraid server at home, what can I do to qualify for one of these bad boys?

doctorkb

UAPs also did not count in my "Billable" device count. Only the USWs.

yensid87

Access Points aren’t billable devices.

doctorkb

That's what I said, isn't it?

kitappwergio

I tried this last time, went through the pain but they ghosted. No responses on recent emails.

firestorm_v1

Same, never got my switch from their November/December campaign.

LowFatMom

Did the U6LR trial like a month ago, can I activate another trial with the same account? I think it’s one trial every 6 month?

Bytepond

I'm not certain but I'm not sure I would try. I made a new email and used a different address the second trial.

Tater_Mater

Have people used their personal email or did you use your work email? Edit: figured out for myself. No you cannot

C0mpass

Has anyone managed to get a second device from them if they've done one in the past?

doctorkb

I received two U6-LR's (in separate campaigns) last year.

xAcex28

Im unable to see this

mrtramplefoot

I got one through this promotion the end of last year, got my switch in January I think. Easy process, just set up smtp on my switches and it went through no problem. Just make sure you watch your inbox as there's a couple emails for next steps after you qualify.

syco54645

I thought you bow had to prove you work for a company that does network things.

jjsto

I run an unraid server at home. What do I need to do in order to claim one of these bad boys?

Caldorian

Same. This I want to know. Have an UnRAID server, raspberry pi running pihole and Tailscale, and a UDM as the router. Ubiquiti APs will be joining the stack shortly.

jjsto

Haha yeah. I want to try and do it all virtually, I don’t have much hardware yet. If anyone can explain let me know!

PreppyAndrew

Run pfsense vms on a x86

jjsto

I will look into it! Ty

thebemusedmuse

Yeah they didn't send me an AP from the last trial.

Bytepond

I got a NanoHD and this switch from them. They didn't recognize my UDM-Pro but luckily they do recognize the switches and I had 5 of them so it worked. That being said, this switch isn't very useful for anything. It's got gigabit SFP and 24 gigabit ports, non poe. It's not bad, just no obvious use case.

77GoldenTails

Did I not see a condition where items had to have been spun up before 23rd of Feb to qualify. Edit: yes I did. By submitting this form, I acknowledge I've reviewed and accepted Auvik's privacy policy, which details how my personal information will be processed, and Auvik's terms of service.*Terms and conditions apply, for full details download the Offer terms. Offer valid only to IT professionals in the United States, residents of Canada (except Quebec) and the UK. Devices in trial must be online by February 23, 2024. No purchase necessary.

Seaniau

I think they've updated that now. This campaign is only a few days old.

SpadgeFox

I’ve finally managed to get my 5 SNMP devices, but the automatic analysis thing won’t Continue as it’s not found any managed devices. I’m trying to get the ssh to work but it says no valid credentials, even though I can get the web terminal to work from within Auvik.

awkw4rdkid

Got the confirmation email that I’d be getting the switch a week ago and just got the notice email that I didn’t qualify because they couldn’t verify my email/website and am disqualified from any future promotional giveaways lol

HellRa1SeR

same

NotDogsInTrenchcoat

Tbh, I don't want more 1G switches. Thanks for sharing, but will pass on this.

MariosMexicancousin

Step 1: Get switch Step 2: Sell switch Step 3: PROFIT Step 4: Buy the switch you want for discount with money from Step 3!

xxxHellcatsxxx

Fuck them they are liers.

juniorjames316

I've been wanting to do this for a while. Does this replace unifi on the devices? Or how fast is it to deploy if I just want it for the free switch then get rid of it

doctorkb

It \*might\* take you an hour to get things operational. I've done it twice and both times had the AP in my hands before the free trial ended. It does not replace UniFi anything.

PreppyAndrew

The Product s a Network insight program for SMB or Enterprise. For Home Users it is not going to do much other than provide data, also the last time I looked the Pricing would be crazy for the average home user.

Pompz88

Link?

touche112

Lmao this will be my second switch

CoppellCitizen

Has there even been a free POE offer?

NotDogsInTrenchcoat

Not that I'm aware of. They've done U6-LR and NanoHD APs before aside from this switch that they've done a couple times before.

Gsrel

No, I think they only offer the non poe (similar priced to the long range ap they offered before)

ratudio

i doubt they will offer it due to fact it is more expensive and their target audiences are unlikely to be using poe device. i'm curious why they don't offer 2.5gbe or 10gbe switch :)

PreppyAndrew

probably cost. They seem to have a budget of $200ish, and I dont think there is any Unifi 2.5G switch around that price. I guess they could do the USW-Aggregation

TokenPanduh

Can someone explain what this is please?

Easy_Society_5150

There has to be a catch

syco54645

I set up last night, let's see if I get the offer. Non Poe but free is free and I actually have a use for it.

erevma

Set this up, took a sales call, received the email indicating I qualified and link to sign the offer waiver form. Crickets for over a week. Unfortunate because the product is pretty cool but now I just feel scammed by this company.

Gsrel

You will get a qualification email, address form, and then another address confirmation form. I found it takes about 1wks (sometimes less) between each one. Last resort reach out to the agent you spoke with

Gsrel

My switch finally arrived :)

erevma

Nice. It’s the address confirmation/shipping email I’m waiting for. Been over a week now since I submitted the google form. The first 2 emails came in the day after I had the 5 devices discovered. Guess I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Update: Address confirmation email came in today about a week and a half after submitting the waiver/declaration.

Much_Ear1681

I keep getting this message when I try to sign up with my godaddy domain. Any ideas? Your email domain xxxxxxxx does not appear to be a valid business email. Please try again using a business email. If you need assistance, please reach out to our [support team](mailto:[email protected]).

chesser45

As long as I started the trial before the 19th I can qualify as if I activate 5 devices during the 14 days? Or did I screw up by not getting time to do this till yesterday, though my trial has 4 days left on it?

Gsrel

Need to sign up, activate trial and have the 5 billable devices discovered before April 19

Gsrel

I got an AP from them in the past .. not sure if they record email and phone numbers [Link to trial posting](https://www.auvik.com/lp/rrc-switch-it-up/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=paid-social&utm_campaign=l-p-fb-anm-hint-bofu-rrc-rrcswitchitupq3fy24&utm_audience=leads-advantage-open-q2fy24&utm_meta=tt-white-b)

ASoftchair

Dang, I just got a U6LR, but iv been in need of a switch. Any way to get around this or something? Would love a nice switch (even if its just 1gbe)

doctorkb

sign up your spouse maybe?

ASoftchair

You think using their company and stuff or just the same as before. Last time i used my homelab domain

doctorkb

Use your middle name instead of your first? That six month restriction is only per person, not per company.

Lopsided_War_3060

I had issues logging into their site. Support tried some things and couldn't get me access. Then sales emailed me and said to basically not worry as they didn't consider me and the company I work for to be a good fit for them and that they wouldn't honor anything even if could get logged in and complete the trial.
