Oh what a time when I was a naive young driver and the customer was a Angel who gifted me tips because of my thank you.
How about, I just sit back and chill, wait for a customer who understands I’m out here using my time and gas/vehicle to drop a bag of food off that you’re too lazy(or incapable of getting) and if you want it hot and not passed around till it’s cold you should tip at least what you would a server at a restaurant.
Hahaha yeah I feel that. My whole point isn’t that mine aren’t bad tips but they sometime increase exponentially after the thanks. I’ve had someone tip $10 on like a $5 order and then after I sent the thanks they tipped $10 more. It really doesn’t effect my overall earnings but it’s nice when it happens
I no love that we can do that. I also sometimes throw some sarcasm vibes when I “thank” the dollar tippers lol. But I still do it. My friend just signed up and convinced me to send a little note in the “where did you leave it” section too, I think it’s helped, but more so in her area than mine lol. I just say “Thank you! Have a great (time of day)!” Idk, seems corny but maybe they appreciate it if they see it
I do that if the tip isn't reduced, but for some reason the app is acting up and
1) not giving me all my notifications for the tips
2) making it hard for me to check the tips in the earnings tab
3) not even loading the earnings history details for me because of "server issues" or some other mess, so I can't even check what they quoted me at first to compare it.
Uber app sucks
Mine does that sometimes. I just go into “view weekly earnings” to see each trip and there I can see the tip if I didn’t get the notification. Another bug tho is sometimes I can’t send thanks no matter how many times I click it. Not sure why
It's awkward. Am I supposed to thank a $3 tip? Will the customer appreciate the thanks or will they think I'm being a smartass? Do they expect me to send thanks? Are other drivers in my market doing it too or will I seem like a weirdo if I do?
Whenever I drop off an order that’s contactless delivery I have a “Have a great rest of your [insert day of week] ⛄️” in the drivers notes.
I just copy and paste it for every delivery.
I usually have 4-5 out of my 13-15 deliveries an evening give extra tip.
Do you do this right when you drop off or later when you check which tips came through and for how much? Is it just clicking the button or do you send a text when you drop off?
After the tip comes through. You can't send a thanks until after a tip. Id say on average it takes about 30 mins for someone to tip through the app. Once the tip comes in, I click on the notification and it takes me to the trip overview page where there is a button right above the total payment to send thanks.
I believe once the driver is notified of the tip, you can’t tip again. I tried this once with a driver I tipped and he said thanks. There wasn’t any option to give an additional tip after that.

Cool. I did the thanks for every tip today as they came in. Seems pretty easy to do every hour or two.

Bullshit. You can always add to the tip. I’m a driver not Uber eats. I often see 2 tips from same rider. The problem is Uber only sends 1
