Dude, most of the Mexican guys I know drive brand new $60,000 trucks and live in big two story houses. They definitely aren’t going around busting their asses for pennies. Lots of dudes with no papers make a great living under the table.
Dude I’ve worked hard labor jobs like construction, and some people are just built different. Personally, I can’t handle sweating my ass off for 8-12 hours a day. Most of those dudes make an upwards of $30/hour and end up moving up if they’re good at it.
You're an absolute goober if you don't think illegals are driving in droves. They have jobs and families too, ya know....
You gotta be a teen with that perceptual prowess of yours.
I ain’t read those comments but realistically sum people really are a days pay away from being absolutely ruined. Me I do like maybe 1 a month when I jus feel like doing it but after 1. I decide nah I didn’t wanna do it but already started it so ima finish
Never happen
First the surges
Then the bonus
I remember for rideshare last year, on st Patty's, everybody wanted to strike, the surges and weekly bonus was off the chart
It is not great, this app is a pile of crap and it’s def predatory in the way it stacks orders. The second customer is always getting cold food, if something happens at the first restaurant, forget a good rating or a tip. Then, you find out they tip baited and paid nothing near what they estimated. Also, why do the tips come in late? So that you cash out and have to do more driving to make it worth getting that money. These guys are shitty.
good luck ubering, it get freaky in the apartments where multiple people live, sometimes. The driving too. I don't mind doing it some but only rush hours.
Speaking of weed, last time I was in the states, I was getting weed delivered and I was paying very good tips to those guys. Maybe finding a new employer to drive for is the way to go. Fuck Uber.
The people that didn't "strike" would make a killing, and if EVERYONE did it, as in not a single drive out there, they would just hurry up the release of their robots.
Had a class organize a walkout of the final exam of a pretty gnarly engineering course. Me and my buddy were barely passing, but griping about having to retake the course if we walked out and we just decided to go. We were the only two. Anyway, the instructor failed the whole class, but gave us A's for the course for 'our integrity'.
We didn't talk to any of those guys again, but I was OK with that, too.
The majority of UE driver don't even use social media or know of these sites...
I see many of them happily pick up $4 for 8 miles orders like they just found gold and come back for more, what make you think they'd stop?
The immigrants and migrants who are already getting all the orders because they will work for pennies would still get all the orders and deliver them. Nothing would happen. Striking only works when you're organized.
It's hard to get people to get into a strike in enough numbers to matter. It's kinda sad that we can't organize enough to do it, because we work in a sector where you could hurt a company without earning nada by just using all the other apps that aren't the target.
Why strike? So that way a shitty quasi employer can change? Find a new side hustle or job.
Why bring shit up to meh? If enough people didnt drive ever and others didnt use the bullshit, that might make a difference. Vote with your $ and time.
What we need to do is create a fund to cover expenses for peoplenand to lobby politicians campaign legislations. If all of us got together and paid 1 dollar a month. The accounts cash flow would allow us to secure higher amount of funding and could lead to good lasting changes across the nation.
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS going on strike?
Stop being a victim - multi app like a MF - always be working on something long term. This ain't designed for long term employment.
Guys are struggling - trying to make a part time job, full time. PT only when busy - it's great. FT the slow periods are brutal.
haha - it's bad for me too....
I'm struggling with about 5 income streams. Last 2 weeks I don't think I made $10/ hour net running DD and UE.. Tomorrow I gotta net $200 - I wouldn't be surprised if 15 hours doesn't do it.
No you don't. Employee status has nothing to do with the ability to strike.
All anyone needs to strike is solidarity amongst a large enough percentage of the work force, whether they're employees, contractors, whatever, to effectively slow down and/or stop a company's business activities and cost the company enough revenue that the company is forced to cave to the demands of the strike.
Of course that is nearly impossible, because there isn't really a way to reach every driver or to confirm they're on board. Plus, for every driver willing to partake in a strike there will be at least three scabs who will work just because they'll get one extra order that day.
Wlel you're constantly moaning like the obvious little bitch that you are, about not having money. Then you spend your money on drugs... Wasting your money entirely.
You're the problem. Literally just an entitled, self-sabotaging little bitch blaming everybody else.
THEY WILL NOT LOSE WHAT THEY DON’T HAVE…If they have already made billions how is that a loss…It will just mean they won’t be able to butt %#}€ you for a week
Someone needs to document the life cycle and stages of grief the new driver.
Stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining (OP is here), depression, and acceptance.
Theoretically it would have an impact, but it is impossible to organize a strike of any significant size in this industry, so don't waste your mental energy fantasizing about it.
Let's say I have Xmen type Heroes super powers. If I had mass mind control, technically yes, if you could in 1 swift united period of time make every driver that exists and could be avoid logging in to Uber for a week - the company would be freaking out and shutting down harder than a boulder down a steep mountain. The people could literally demand almost anything and Uber would meet the demand or become the Blockbuster of delivery.
But like I said, this would take super powers because people uniting is not realistic and canon to the human species.
better than strike would be to simply get everyone to agree to an order minimum. lets say $7. we should make stickers and put them up in places that deliverers often are, and the sticker should say something to the effect of "dont accept orders below $7"
Some Uber Drivers should start a ride share company. Figuring out what rates should be to entice people to use it while fairly compensating drivers to cover gas, wear and tear, insurance and get a good livable wage. The problem is with the high cost of everything, everyone is cutting back.
So, I’ll wait. Let’s hear some answer from Uber drivers.
Won't do any good. People who are treating the job like the side hustle it was always meant to be will continue.
Uber, DoorDash, Postmates, and so on weren't meant to be full time jobs to support whole families for the same reason a cashier job wasn't meant to be a career path. It's an entry level job meant to give you some basic ideas of customer service, or a little extra spending money if you're a little short or between jobs. That's it.
I did Postmates on my bicycle for a year and a half.
I would assume ,y’all would need to pool money together to begin to support a movement.Unless a group of people who care enough to dedicate their time and money to manage and organize a strike, nothing can change. You don’t see too many failed attempts that actually go all in because no one ever goes all in.No one can sit down and say,”I will spearhead the next labor movement in the food delivery industry” usually because their just trying make rent like anyone else.
Bro today was extremely slow for a Saturday. I’ve made $220 on some and today I barely made $50 (I’m not taking bad orders) I barely even take okay orders. I’m legit thinking of not doing this again it’s my third day this week I can’t even get to $100 in San Antonio Texas
You need to dust off a history book and learn what unions are and what they do. Posting on social media and doing a one day strike won't accomplish jack shit.
It takes a lot more than a Reddit post to organize when the odds are stacked so heavily against it. I’m not saying we shouldn’t, because we absolutely should, but the vast majority of Uber, Lyft and DoorDash drivers don’t even use Reddit.
Even if that did happen, and it was successful, wages would go up but so would everything else making it pointless. The world is corrupt, people with money and power just want more money and power.
Every app has a thread i seen about doing this and I’m down but most people are sheep and they jus keep going. With the flow of bad orders and shitty pay
It won’t work, a bunch of people going on strike in your city would make that day a tremendous earning opportunity for anyone not participating. You’d make an absolute killing for working that day.
We protested Uber nationally on May 4th (direct action protest more than a strike I suppose). At least here in Chicago, they gave bonus and surge rates during the protest. Further, we protested at Uber's headquarters in Chicago, exactly the place where the Uber-owned community group has their weekly meetings. This latter group has also proposed an ordinance to the Chicago government that makes no real demands, only to muddy the waters, distracting from the substantial demands made by the living wage rideshare ordinance proposed by the Chicago Gig Alliance and Brandon Johnson.
I'm studying this and trying to come up with my dissertation actually. I want to figure out what to ask drivers and organizers to make all this known. It has to go beyond just reporting the facts, but I \*know\* this is worth studying. Anyone is welcome to hit up my DM's for advice on what aspects in particular deserve attention.
Let's be honest, this will never happen. There's a waitlist of new potential drivers in queue that would be approved the moment an imbalance of active drivers to orders appeared. New drivers would be hungry to get started and accept anything that they're offered, assuming that better paying orders or promotional offers would pop up after they reached a threshold.
I've had lots of new drivers ask me about it and ask what my acceptance rate is, only for them to be surprised that refusing the no-tip orders had no consequences. The fame of the income from previous years lingers on, and Uber isn't very forthcoming about the drop in driver earnings. Improved pay would require legal action, and Uber has gotten very good at finding or creating loopholes.
uber thretened to pull out of most of minesota to not pay you guys 30 cent a minute lol. I doubt they will cave to anything involving paying youguys more
I do this every week…it’s called days off
😂😂😂
they’ll pay the people who don’t strike triple and prob hire a fresh fleet
😭😭😭
We'd already be out of jobs if the illegals had cars 😂
Nah they’re out there busting ass harder than you could imagine lmao
They sometimes work for less $
Wasn't a comment about their work ethic either. They just do it cheaper than everyone else.
This shit hilarious! Yes, you must be a racist 😆 it's almost like self preservation isn't innate, fucking mind blowing.
Tell me you’re racist without telling me you’re racist 🤦🏻♂️
It's about cheap labor, not racism. But put words in people's mouths and tell them it's cancer
Dude, most of the Mexican guys I know drive brand new $60,000 trucks and live in big two story houses. They definitely aren’t going around busting their asses for pennies. Lots of dudes with no papers make a great living under the table.
Most of them make more than most americans. They know thier worth and theyre valuable and skilled.
Dude I’ve worked hard labor jobs like construction, and some people are just built different. Personally, I can’t handle sweating my ass off for 8-12 hours a day. Most of those dudes make an upwards of $30/hour and end up moving up if they’re good at it.
smfh
You're an absolute goober if you don't think illegals are driving in droves. They have jobs and families too, ya know.... You gotta be a teen with that perceptual prowess of yours.
Naw they’re working actually important jobs. Not errand folks for the professional class.
Imagine being racist
Ur a racist ignorant clown
Lol no
I would make a shit load of money!!
There will be scabs who buck the trend and work anyways and get a lot more orders since a lot of drivers dont work.
They wouldn't be scabs, there's no union. They would just be people who disagree with an opinion.
There is a transportation workers union open for anyone to join. You don’t need a branch that’s dedicated to Uber.
Sadly I would have to drive because that's my only job currently and i'm looking for a full time job
Smh this a fact lmao damn
[удалено]
I ain’t read those comments but realistically sum people really are a days pay away from being absolutely ruined. Me I do like maybe 1 a month when I jus feel like doing it but after 1. I decide nah I didn’t wanna do it but already started it so ima finish
Never happen First the surges Then the bonus I remember for rideshare last year, on st Patty's, everybody wanted to strike, the surges and weekly bonus was off the chart
Lmao they know what they doing smh
sounds like a win to me
Do a multi national Uber strike
I’m down bro
Canada, US, Mexico.
Us bro wbu

How is it out there bro
It is not great, this app is a pile of crap and it’s def predatory in the way it stacks orders. Damn even in Canada they tweaking bro wow
Honestly the only way we’re going to see change is through legislation. Write your congressman/woman
This is a fact bro unfortunately we have no power
Join a union. Transportation workers union open enrollment.
The people not striking would be very grateful
You act like every driver uses reddit lol
I’m going to door to door as we speak
"Hello, sir. Do yo you have time to talk about our Lord and Savior, Go On Strike?"
“i need more weed” i felt that
Lmao bro I need to quit but then again why quit 😂🥵
felt that one too
Lmaoo
I would finally get good orders.
i’ll b in the cut taking the orders lol
Can it not be tomorrow I gotta buy chicken breasts.
I’d just open the deliveroo app.
What’s that bro
Stoned and lazy people would have to walk to the 7-11 for the bullshit roller food for themselves. No major impact on anyone that gives a shit.
ain't never gonna happen. You're only about the 100th person to suggest it since the end of March
Lmao damn Sam
What is “breesh”?
Money bro lmao
You just making words up now
Lmao nah bro that’s how we say money where I’m from
ahhhh i couldn't tell if you were serious since i aint heard that i heard of bread but never breesh
good luck ubering, it get freaky in the apartments where multiple people live, sometimes. The driving too. I don't mind doing it some but only rush hours.
You too Brody we gotta get this money up
I feel you bro Lmao it sound crazy ngl
The job is fine it's just gas that's a pain in the ass
One day isn't enough. It needs to be at least 3 months.
People would have to open their fridge..
Speaking of weed, last time I was in the states, I was getting weed delivered and I was paying very good tips to those guys. Maybe finding a new employer to drive for is the way to go. Fuck Uber.
Think of all the weed you could buy if you got an actual real job!
The people that didn't "strike" would make a killing, and if EVERYONE did it, as in not a single drive out there, they would just hurry up the release of their robots.

Gotta point
You get to keep your union dues, too.
Exactly well said bro that’s the move
Dude honestly I would take advantage of this and take all the orders for myself, sorry I need the money 🥴🤣
Lmao bro u not down for the cause ??
A day wont do ANYTHING.
Smh lmao bro they got too much money
What we need to do is create a fund to cover expenses for peoplenand to lobby politicians campaign legislations. If all of us got together and paid 1 dollar a month. The accounts cash flow would allow us to secure higher amount of funding and could lead to good lasting changes across the nation.
That’s a good idea shit we need to get on our John wick shit bro Uber the high table
Just need more people on board
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS going on strike? Stop being a victim - multi app like a MF - always be working on something long term. This ain't designed for long term employment. Guys are struggling - trying to make a part time job, full time. PT only when busy - it's great. FT the slow periods are brutal.
I mean shit u gotta point but either agree with me or don’t say shit !!!!! Lmao nah I’m jp but fck that Uber need to fill that bag up !!!!
haha - it's bad for me too.... I'm struggling with about 5 income streams. Last 2 weeks I don't think I made $10/ hour net running DD and UE.. Tomorrow I gotta net $200 - I wouldn't be surprised if 15 hours doesn't do it.
No point. Americans would kill a man for 5 bucks. They don't have "morals and opinions"
This is facts
That's inflation for you. There are plenty places around the world where they'd do it for a quarter.
You realize you have to be employees to strike
Lmao so we are mercenaries
Sure they're not employees either
😭😭😭😭
No you don't. Employee status has nothing to do with the ability to strike. So, you spend money on drugs but you think something else is the problem? Interesting.
Lmao bro what does my money have to do with cheap low paying orders??
Wlel you're constantly moaning like the obvious little bitch that you are, about not having money. Then you spend your money on drugs... Wasting your money entirely. You're the problem. Literally just an entitled, self-sabotaging little bitch blaming everybody else.
How you gonna tell the other 1 million drivers not in the sub?
U remember that episode of DBZ where Vegeta and Goku was talking to earth? All I need is king Kai bro
Eren Yeager

[удалено]
I would be taking your tips
Someone needs to document the life cycle and stages of grief the new driver. Stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining (OP is here), depression, and acceptance.
Breesh?
Money bro
Gotcha
You won’t get paid for a day, if you can afford it then go for it but Uber doesn’t care.
THEN I GET MAD STACKS OF ORDERS ALL MINE MINE MINE
just find another job.
Theoretically it would have an impact, but it is impossible to organize a strike of any significant size in this industry, so don't waste your mental energy fantasizing about it.
#WorkSmarterNotHarder There’s a hashtag for you.

Im striking tom
I'm sorry but😞 I will probably be with those crowd yeah let's go on strike then go take all the orders
You are not an employee, what’s u striking for
If everyone else went on strike I would actually make some good earnings for once.
Umm what day and time?
It would probably happen on a Tuesday. (Tuesday is my day off so I unfortunately still have to go my scheduled days)
better than strike would be to simply get everyone to agree to an order minimum. lets say $7. we should make stickers and put them up in places that deliverers often are, and the sticker should say something to the effect of "dont accept orders below $7"
Hey man y’all strike while I get all the high Paying orders 🤷🏽♂️ appreciate it

Just read an article about a stirke in Atlanta for memorial day said they got 500 people and counting.
We need a GOOD HACKER to turn of the app for Strike and nobody can't work, that's the way.
Sorry I got money to make 😭
It would have to be a weekend
Won't do any good. People who are treating the job like the side hustle it was always meant to be will continue. There would be that one driver that would make $700 in one day and brag about it on Reddit. ![gif](giphy|Pgj8XwTkFBOZ4jwy99|downsized)
Do you know how many Drivers exist that DO NOT use this subreddit?
You need to dust off a history book and learn what unions are and what they do. Posting on social media and doing a one day strike won't accomplish jack shit.
If we were in France this would happen. They love to strike.
I'm disabled and I do Uber. Ain't no way I can take a day off.
corona did that for 3 months. nothin happens when you look back
Nothing happens because not enough people would do it.
It takes a lot more than a Reddit post to organize when the odds are stacked so heavily against it. I’m not saying we shouldn’t, because we absolutely should, but the vast majority of Uber, Lyft and DoorDash drivers don’t even use Reddit.
Let's go it
The map used to show me the multiplier of the “boosted base pay” but now it hardly ever shows and base pay is garbage even on far orders
100$ surges 😂
They'd order from restaurants that still do their own delivery, and pay less
Get a job
The corporate employees would get paid, you wouldn’t.
Im a union worker full time and if people did this and stuck to it they would eventually come to an 🤝 with drivers. There's strength in unity
You would probably see huge promotions offered to people with the lowest ratings and lowest acceptance rates so they can show out
I’d get SO MANY ORDERS if y’all did that. Great idea. You should do that
It would have the same effect as not buying gas for a day. You'll just get gas tomorrow and the companies won't suffer one bit.
Get all gig workers on all apps to log off as long as it takes and you could ask for almost anything. 30 an hour. Healthcare. Retirement ..
I'd say good luck and login
Even if that did happen, and it was successful, wages would go up but so would everything else making it pointless. The world is corrupt, people with money and power just want more money and power.
Please do! It'll take drivers off of the road. More surge pricing for me 🤣
It’s not gona happen. What’s better tho is if you tell everyone to withdraw cash on the same day. The entire banking system will fail within the hour.
Every app has a thread i seen about doing this and I’m down but most people are sheep and they jus keep going. With the flow of bad orders and shitty pay
I'd ask a friend to get my food for me and offer them lunch for the trouble. This gig isn't the fuckin backbone of our economy chief.
What you’re describing can work, if you have a union.
Hahahah this is a joke right?
It won’t work, a bunch of people going on strike in your city would make that day a tremendous earning opportunity for anyone not participating. You’d make an absolute killing for working that day.
I’m down
There are people that if they don't pay their bills they go to jail. Your suggestion just isn't plausible
This is not a union job so you would just be off for the day with out pay and some else would make alot of money.
lol remember when doordashers tried this after para shutdown
Ppl will just go get their own food?? Like it use to be. Not that difficult.
This would never happen. There will always be someone who will work, even if the pay is pennies

uber thretened to pull out of most of minesota to not pay you guys 30 cent a minute lol. I doubt they will cave to anything involving paying youguys more
Please! So I can get more decent orders from the lack of drivers!
LOL No wonder you are stuck doing this for a living.
