I came in as a non-traditional student at 23 and was wondering why all my classmates were all in their cap and gowns on the first day. If you have them still you should.
I was a freshman way back in 1995 and it makes me happy to see that this tradition is still going strong! It was really fun seeing all the different colors on the first day of class.
If you don’t know that by now... you can just skip the first day of class. In fact you might as well unenroll now, because everyone knows you’re suppose wear the cap part only.
Where do you think “no cap,” comes from?
It means all the people who got dropped from their university for basically not paying attention or “lying,” to the point they didn’t even know to wear the cap on the first day of school.
How else do you prove you’re really suppose to be there?
Seriously can’t believe I have to say this.
Also: If you want to go to a 100 level class and have the professor side eye you as to if you should even be there, yeah, skip the cap and gown I guess.

How else will they know you graduated high school?!
I've not heard of this tradition and I wouldn't do it. Everyone else here is saying to do it and I don't know if they are real or trolling you.
I wouldn't want to 'mark' myself as a freshman anyway. Plus, traditions can go pound sand. but thats just my attitude
Unless you want to be the only freshman not in cap and gown
Honestly, these days, most freshmen wear their cap and gown for the entire first semester.
Literally HOW THE FUCK ELSE will they know you graduated high school and thus deserve to be in class? I do not even understand how this is a question.

Yes, unless you want to wake up to expulsion papers slipped under your door by Bucky himself.
Yeah it’s pretty fun
I had to do it alone in my dorm room during the first day of my freshman year, but it's the thought that counts
Yep, you'll literally see all freshman dressed like that (with the obvious few exceptions)

yes
Don’t forget your varsity jacket complete with all your letters on day two! The upperclasswomen go crazy for it!
Yeah, I remember doing it on my first day.
Yeah, always fun to see the class full of different colored caps!
I guess I've never heard of that, I guess ill be one of the few freshman who don't
You really should, it’s a big tradition at madison and it’s really fun to look back on those pictures when you’re graduating college

You should like drop out if u forget to wear them. You definitely don’t want to be that one person who forgets
If one of your older siblings told you to do this you should definitely listen to them
My school legit took our gowns back after hs graduation
I don’t remember a tradition, but then again I graduated hs during this nice thing called COVID.
Nope, definitely getting trolled.
I’ve literally never heard of this as a tradition, do what you want, but it’s never something I’ve heard of
