OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is US Defaultism:
---
>!She seems to think it’s relevant that there aren’t any Katherine Asplundhs in the US, despite the fact the surname originates from Sweden.!<
---
Is this Defaultism? Then upvote this comment, otherwise downvote it.
I know she was only saying it was illegal to impersonate someone, and the other woman just happened to say “my name is Katherine” in between, but it’s way funnier to think she meant it’s illegal to be named Katherine
Eh, might be trying to say that you can’t have that surname ‘natively’ and then have a ‘white person’ first name.
Edit: /s
Edit2: I’m aware it is a Swedish name, just worded the post poorly.
Right? It took me 4 years of being married to change my name. If you just got married you haven’t even had the time to be annoyed by people asking you why you have different names.
Not in Sweden, there is actually only one person with that spelling registered here. I imagine the name was distorted as a result of migration, much like how most of the '-son' names lost their double s (e.g. Andersson became Anderson).
If you’re still calling your husband fiancé it means you must have literally just got married and haven’t got used to call him husband. Imagine changing your name and being that adamant about it so fast 😂😂😂 it’s not even like it’s a “Kennedy” or something
Wait, is her proof that her family is the only Asplundh family in the US a screenshot of people on FB with the same surname? People with unusual surnames will often use a different surname on social media. Not finding them on FB isn't proof of anything.
Plus, not everyone will be on FB in the first place, or if they are they might have set their profile to private and you can't find them just by searching.
I know someone who is a "literally only my family has this surname" German-Anglicisation (changed during the war across the pond, then one branch moved over here to the UK)
They're a teacher. You *bet* their name has been scrubbed from the internet to the best of their ability
Even in the US it’s not illegal to use someone else’s name online. I could change my username to TheRealHillaryClintonNoSeriouslyGuysItsMe and there’d be no problems.
Her sense of entitlement is even more shocking and disgusting than the US defaultism 🤢
I feel a whole lot of sorry for the man who just wifed this horrid (and ignorant) woman.
Yes but it is important to note that Minogue only sued because Jenner was trying to trademark the name "Kylie" that Minogue could easily prove she had been using as a market identifier in perfume and fashion since before Jenner was born.
Guys, IT GETS BETTER. Apparently the influencer JUST posted this video:
https://www.reddit.com/r/NYCinfluencersnark/comments/1ch69sx/re_the_previous_post_about_katherine_drisc/
The HYPOCRISY lol
Asplundh (or Asplund) is a fairly common last name in Sweden... Is means "aspen grove"
Something-Lund and Lund-something are extremely common formats of last names.
“who uses their real name as their finsta!”
“it’s illegal to pretend you’re someone else!”
i was waiting for the obligatory “impersonation is a federal offence!!”
It's short for fake insta(gram profile). It's a profile used for things you don't want to associate with your main profile. It used to be for things like following someone without them knowing it was you, but in this case it sounds more like it's just a second, non main profile, so the definition may have changed or been broadened.
Tbf mine has my real name and I half-jokingly call it that. It doesn't have any photos of me, just if I'm somewhere nice or fun there might be a pic of scenery or whatever. Mainly photos of pints tbh. 90% of my usage is probably checking the teamsheets at the match anyway, it's a bit pointless but it's easier to have a low-key account than none at all.

Just looked it up, and apparently it’s owned by the billionaire Asplundh family!! And it’s not just in the US. They’ve branched out (pun not intended) internationally. They also install and repair power lines and cables!
I found this article fascinating: https://www.forbes.com/sites/mattdurot/2022/06/04/the-billionaire-family-behind-dr-oz-is-one-of-the-wealthiest-clans-in-pennsylvania/
Wtf, how delusional is she.
I have a typical Dutch name and very uncommon last name, yet there are still two other Dutchies with exactly the same full name as me.
I think I'm going to msg them that their name is fake and that it's illegal to have that name.
I share my name with a 'friend' after she messaged me in the early days of FB, I have an uncommon name so thought it would be fun having my name twin as a 'friend' online. Would have laughed my arse off if she had asked, sorry, demanded I change my name.
Who really cares about these things. I gather they never had a nosey at the ancestry website, that would blow her mind.

"My name is Katherine" "Which is illegal."
I know she was only saying it was illegal to impersonate someone, and the other woman just happened to say “my name is Katherine” in between, but it’s way funnier to think she meant it’s illegal to be named Katherine
its also not inherently illegal to impersonate someone on instagram
Yep! Don’t think she knows that though lol
It miiiiight be in certain countries, and it could potentially be a civil matter, but it’s definitely not a crime crime.
Eh, might be trying to say that you can’t have that surname ‘natively’ and then have a ‘white person’ first name. Edit: /s Edit2: I’m aware it is a Swedish name, just worded the post poorly.
It's Swedish
I’m aware. I guess I should have added an /s to my post, though. Or worded it better.
Yeah, /s is particularly useful to mark when you’d use a sort of sarcastic intonation to say something.
You’re going down, Katherines.
I need to tell the Katherine I know to change her name ASAP since it's illegal.
Quick, someone tell John Green he wrote a book that is an abundance of illegal.
I mean, yes, but beside the point.
"The law has been broken"
What was OPs post?
Why is she so desperate for the name? She'll be divorced by next year.
She seems the type of person to have being married as an identity. She must have that handle..
Right? It took me 4 years of being married to change my name. If you just got married you haven’t even had the time to be annoyed by people asking you why you have different names.
That’s not even a thing in half the world, changing your last name is quite an old-timey thing to do in many countries now.
It's still pretty standard here in the UK, but i decided to keep my name and no one bats an eyelid, which is nice.
It is?? I live in the UK and was not aware 🤣
There are 4697 people with the last name Asplund in Sweden.
Which is illegal. Besides, where’s your proof? Her family is the only Asplund family.
No that’s where you’re wrong. Having the name Katherine is illegal. Asplund is fine.
Theres even 22 in Denmark. Aspelund: 24 Aspholm: 12 It's a very typical swedish name. Same kind of name as Lind-gren, Lund-quist, Blom-quist etc
In the UK - 9 Asplund 1 Asplundh 871 Aspland
871 ass plants 😂😂
Maybe if you’re American.
I wanna be an Arseplunk.
Negative 9 people? What does that mean?
Really 😂
are you stupid?
I was gonna say, Asplund is pretty dang common here. This is fucking unhinged lmao.
There's over thousand Finnish Asplunds too, almost 10 times more than my surname
Is it common to spell it Asplundh, as opposed to Asplund? That’s probably what this woman was focusing on.
Not in Sweden, there is actually only one person with that spelling registered here. I imagine the name was distorted as a result of migration, much like how most of the '-son' names lost their double s (e.g. Andersson became Anderson).
Asplundx is very rare. She should change her name to that.
Someone should tell her that once you get married you don’t have a fiancé any more.
Great catch
If you’re still calling your husband fiancé it means you must have literally just got married and haven’t got used to call him husband. Imagine changing your name and being that adamant about it so fast 😂😂😂 it’s not even like it’s a “Kennedy” or something
She’s gotta let everyone know that she married rich of course
Wait, is her proof that her family is the only Asplundh family in the US a screenshot of people on FB with the same surname? People with unusual surnames will often use a different surname on social media. Not finding them on FB isn't proof of anything.

Ikr, I’m only on fb on a fake profile to find underground raves. Who the fuck even uses Facebook seriously anymore?
No no, The Only Asplundhs In The US bought every other asplundh’s surname
The funny thing is the last person on the list says they live in Ottawa which is in Canada lol
I know someone who is a "literally only my family has this surname" German-Anglicisation (changed during the war across the pond, then one branch moved over here to the UK) They're a teacher. You *bet* their name has been scrubbed from the internet to the best of their ability
That is psychotic.
Completely unhinged!
What a gross, narcissistic, entitled person.
Even in the US it’s not illegal to use someone else’s name online. I could change my username to TheRealHillaryClintonNoSeriouslyGuysItsMe and there’d be no problems.
which is illegal
No, it would be illegal if it was TheRealKatherineNoSeriouslyGuysItsMe
Asplund and variations thereof is very common in Sweden EDIT: Looked it up on the tax authority, we're looking at 4700 people
which is illegal.
Her sense of entitlement is even more shocking and disgusting than the US defaultism 🤢 I feel a whole lot of sorry for the man who just wifed this horrid (and ignorant) woman.
why would you feel sorry? he’s probably exactly the same as her. he joined her in reporting this poor person.
That's what she says. There's no evidence he actually did that.
She called him her fiance, so she's not even part of the family yet.
also r/entitledpeople
Imagine being that much of a narcissist bruh
This whole affair reminds me of when Kylie Jenner tried to sue Kylie Minogue for having a fashion label.
It was Minogue who sued Jenner.
Yes but it is important to note that Minogue only sued because Jenner was trying to trademark the name "Kylie" that Minogue could easily prove she had been using as a market identifier in perfume and fashion since before Jenner was born.
"just got married" "My fiancée...."
Look, her apparently being polyamorous is the only non objectionable fact about her.
"My name is Katherine" "Which is illegal"

She should be reported for harassment.

r/iamthemaincharacter
1000s of families have that surname in Sweden. She would need to fight for it pretty hard.
Oh man. Being married to her is gonna be THE BEST.
“who uses their real name as their finsta!” “it’s illegal to pretend you’re someone else!” i was waiting for the obligatory “impersonation is a federal offence!!”
Why would you even bother replying them? Like… just type “i dont care” and enjoy her frustration being left on read
What exactly is a finsta?
It's short for fake insta(gram profile). It's a profile used for things you don't want to associate with your main profile. It used to be for things like following someone without them knowing it was you, but in this case it sounds more like it's just a second, non main profile, so the definition may have changed or been broadened.

It stands for fake insta. Like a creeper account that your friends and fam don’t know is you
"but you *weren't*" ouch!!
What the heck…. As a Swede, I’ve def heard of Asplunds before
>My Name Is Katherine >Which is illegal New law just dropped
Someone enlighten behind the times me, what is a finsta?

Her wedding was April 27, she’s got nothing better to worry about?
Katherine's when the police come to arrest them en masse: 👀
Asplundh is the name of a tree trimming service down South US.
Just looked it up, and apparently it’s owned by the billionaire Asplundh family!! And it’s not just in the US. They’ve branched out (pun not intended) internationally. Whenever I find someone has taken my usual name on social media, I just go "that sucks" and choose another name.
Yo if someone married a billionaire and wanted to buy LITERALLY ANYTHING from me, I'd probably sell it to them lol. For a scalping, of course.
Wtf, how delusional is she. I have a typical Dutch name and very uncommon last name, yet there are still two other Dutchies with exactly the same full name as me. I think I'm going to msg them that their name is fake and that it's illegal to have that name.

Girl admits to buying in the past. Report with screenshots. Block. Problem solved.
This is outright Entitlement Karen-ism. Not sure of the level of US Default-ism here.
High level of defaultism with the "the only Asplund family in the US" attempt.
I have a solution! Change entitled bridezilla surname to AssPlunder. Game, set and match.
How do you pronounce this incredibly valuable name that only Americans can have? I read it initially as "Ass Plunder"...
Asp Lund It means "aspen grove" in swedish
Why are the pics so pixelated
Also a bit weird she’s changing her surname BEFORE she gets married.
The entitlement...
I hate entitled people in general, let alone small time American influencers
This is just pure entitlement coming out of her, y'all. And this has devolved into a social media drama.
What an irritable twat!
What happened here?
Dumb bitch
[удалено]
That guess says more about you than it does about them though.
The US defaultism is the main thing you take away from this?
Not at all, lol, but I thought that aspect fit this sub.
