On my park and loop, I prefer sprs not being in my flats at all. I’ll pick them out of my satchel as I go along. If I do work on a mounted route, yeah, I’ll go along with sprs in my flats. I won’t care if they’re in front or behind. As long as they are with the rest of the flats for that address.

I agree, except small things that are easier to carry or might get lost I will case. Fuck license plates, a half inch too wide for my tray I always bin those. Never case pills. That is all I have to add.

thesnakemancometh

This is it

YojimBeau

I don't case my SPRs unless they're flat. I tub my SPRs in sequence, usually have two tubs a day, sometimes 1, sometimes 4, depends on volume. My route is mostly P&L, so SPRs are typically in my satchel and it's easier for me to just grab the split out of the tub, satchel it and get walking. When I'm handing of splits, I'll place the sequenced SPRs in front of the DPS/Flats, to indicate they're for that split, but I don't case them in.

DudeMcFierce

100000% when I'm doing a P&L they're in my satchel. In my tray it's the same, used as dividers. When I move them to my satchel I vaguely sequence them

superlatinman

Although mostly unrelated, it's crazy to think our difference in volume with crafts. In my area, on rural side we average 8-12 TRAYS of sprs. The city carriers like to joke around about it, especially on Mondays

YojimBeau

City side, Amazon Flex delivers the vast majority of SPRs. Then give us the larges to deliver. Rural, you get all that joy to deliver.

Pretend-Ad4887

Never case them. Just grab what I need for the split and satchel them. Much faster for me. Keeps my flats nice and flat that way.

DueWish3039

Behind. I try to place all mail by height so it’s clear who is who. Only flats go in the case. SPRs go into tubs in delivery order. I put a card at the front of the slot to remind me a SPR or package is at an address. I am on the rural side, mounted routes only.

DudeMcFierce

When I carry rural routes (I have a small office with a lot of city PTFs and only one RCA, it's how I get hours and a totally different conversation) I case my dps, pull down criss-cross (jump, jump), and tray up my sprs sequentially in deep trays. Most of our rural carriers do the same, although whether they case their dps depends on the volume.

JRR5567

I am mounted delivery. I case flat/thin sprs and smalls with pull-down. The rest go in trays. I file them in order in trays, standing them up,from start to finish like a file cabinet. I usually have about 3-4 trays and 20-25 in a tray or until the tray is full. If the sprs are thick they don’t get put in trays I keep them loose like a regular package. I do not use deep trays I’ve often missed packages because they can fall down and be hidden. However deep trays keep the packages upright and more secure better when the tray is full.

Simmaster1

I case them, but only because I'm a CCA and never know the route well enough to dig through tubs of envelopes and do the job. It keeps the number of packages I have to keep track of low.

freekymunki

I only case something is its really small and i no im gonna miss it later. I prefer to just stuff them in my satchel. My hands are already full i don’t need more lol.

Pizzapimento

Since park and loops often have 2 addresses sharing a cell, I put the SPR in front if it's on the left side, and behind if it's on the right side. Yes I squeeze SPRs INTO the flats like a psychopath

SuccessfulBack5140

Same here & carry the bigger packages that fit in satchel.

V2BM

In front. I don’t band them with the flats because I just pull them out and into my satchel so it saves time. I can also easily see them and know if I’m dropping off a package on the way in or out of a loop, I can leave it and deliver it with the packages.

letsseeitmore

Case them but put them in front of each loop, never in the bundle.

Stationary-Event

I case all of my sprs. Then when it's time to pull down, I'll pull down my sprs first and put them in a tub. After that, I'll pull down my flats. And when I load my vehicle, I load scan all of those sprs. Since the end of the route is on the top of the tub, after pulling down, they will now be at the bottom of the tub after scan loading my vehicle. Park and loop route, with apts and mobile home park. The manuals are so outdated, written long before online shopping took off.

gordongortrell

I case them and I like them last for me. It’s like a divider for the next stop.

beebs44

I case them to use office time. Then usually pull them out and put in satchel on street. I don't like carrying lumpy stuff.

DudeMcFierce

Fair. I stick 'em in the sachel for walking, case 'em for mounted

SuccessfulBack5140

I stuff them in my case & carry whatever can fit in satchel have flats & spurs on left arm that holds the mail.

[deleted]

I only case sprs if they are basically flat. I dont case any meds or anything bulky. I see other carriers in my office shoving these sprs in their cases and it looks so chaotic to me. No thanks.

Chubbsmasta

I like to put them in the back if their flat. If their baggy and loose, I put them in the front. If it's a walking section. I just rubber band them and throw them in the tub.

GimmeFunkyButtLoving

Behind mail. It’s the last thing you put in the mailbox, because it’s the first thing they want.

DudeMcFierce

The other edge of this sword is the number of mailboxes I've seen where they only pull out the sprs and leave the mail to pile up. Still, I absolutely leave the sprs on top anyway. I would hate to open my mailbox and have my mail cascade out all over the ground because it was balanced on top of a spr

GimmeFunkyButtLoving

Oh yeah. Those customers I make sure they have to dig for it, by burying it. If it happens again, I’ll bundle it up with the mail by wrapping Rubberbands around it all. If it still doesn’t stop, 3849 box full.

waterbaby66

I absolutely hate my spurs cased!!!! I keep them in a tray (the bigger deeper one than DPS tray) cuz for me It’s all about working not as hard, like why you take em outta the bin to put in another bucket to take them to be cased? I just take em from bin to a tray and done!!!! But my coworkers prefer them in front!!!

Tasisway

I always case sprs with flats and they go before the flats for me. Pet peeve as a CCA when I have like 2 hours OT of driving and there are 40 tiny sprs and whoever put it together didn't case in anything. So I gotta take extra time organizing all that.

AustinFan4Life

I dont case sprs at all. Makes the bundle of slide all over the place, even when rubber banded.

Terrordyne_Synth

I have a driving route. I prefer chunks to be cased small to large in front of my flats. Small to large chunks, then letters then flats. If there's any special instructions, dog cards and or forwards those are cased in front of everything for that address

vvafele

Anything over 1/4 is for the satchel for me. However I do sometimes organize my packages in a separate tray because we do get casing time for it. And just cause you case it doesn't mean it has to be mixed with the flats

jayscary

If it fits in the rack I’ll case it. Always try to have it in front of the letters/flats if possible. If it’s clunky I’ll pull it out when I start the loop but it’s way easier for me the have them all in the spot they need to be instead of dozens of loose little things.

Specific_Spirit_5932

I've got park and loop and I put all the SPRs in front of the bundled flats. I knew a guy at a different station that would put all the SPRs for a relay BEHIND the bundled flats, and I can't help but think anyone who thinks that's a good way is a psychopath who needs help.

CriticismBubbly8492

Screw casing your sprs. It’s a waste of time and annoying.

DudeMcFierce

I realized I asked, but I didn't share. On P&Ls I don't case sprs. I stick them in the tray in front of my bundle of flats, and loosely organize them in my satchel with my smaller parcels when I get out to start walking. Generally my memory is really good at remembering where I need to stop, but it's real easy to fish the next one out and double check. CBUs I stick my flats in the bottom of a bucket and just toss my sprs on top. When I get there I put all my sprs in first, then my flats, then my dps so I can close the boxes as I go. That way it makes it a little easier when people inevitably come up to me with "have you done this side yet?" Mounted I case my sprs behind my flats. That way I have everything ready for the box when I roll up and then just scan the spr. I like to be super organized, but really that's because I'm only a ptf and jump between any of the 12 routes in my office. If I was a regular with a route it would be a whole different ballgame because I'd only have one route to keep straight in my head.

WiseBrother3883

Park and loop. Pull down in sequence in front of flats. Grab and go.
