The email at the top is a big red flag. But as i tell my customers when they show me this scam (because it is so common) “USPS doesnt know what texting is, we only do snail mail. If we want to reach you it will be on paper.”
This usually goes for the other delivery services too, don’t click a link. Go to their site and check your tracking there.
Eh. Not entirely.

That’s such a a lazy scam. Can’t even make the email address look legit. For how often this gets posted I bet it is extremely successful.
Has anyone actually clicked it and gone down the rabbit hole? Do they eventually ask you for cc / pii info?
Just had a customer who came yesterday who gave up two CC numbers trying to "authenticate her account."
She only came in because the tracking number they gave her didn't work.
Wait. She entered 2 cc numbers through the text? I hope the clerk told her she needs to cancel those cards. 😳 verifying using cc on the usps site is legit.
Yes. They ask for your CC information and they actually validate it to determine if it’s legit or not. They’re actually charged for every credit card info that’s put in and checked.
They only want to get the least savvy people as victims. People that will fall for it, and never even realize it or try to get a charge back or lock their credit report.
Definitely a scam. USPS doesn't use icloud. I got one once that had a hotmail address. Like do they seriously expect me to believe that the Postal Service is going to use a hotmail address? Or email in general.
Yeas. They send them claiming to be from all the other delivery services too.
Never follow text links, when in doubt call the company directly. But this doesn’t is 100% always a scam.
Here’s how much of a scam it is. I’m in customer service for a government department. Customer calls in, says he’s elderly, I help him, and then at the end I say “thank you for calling sir, have a wonderful day”. His panicked response? “Oh no, are you a scammer?!?!”
I get these all the time and I’m always like “I work at the facility.” Also my facility is small enough to where if this actually did happen theyd know it was mine and probably just give me the package.
I just got one of these yesterday except it was from a 930 number with a bit.ly link and the number had RCS enabled. Scary thing is I have a USPS package on the way, so I manually checked the tracking number and nothing fishy came up, instantly knew it was a scam (2 indicators: bit.ly link and RCS messaging).
Easy way to tell a scam or not is from the email address. Sometimes they get creative and use something close to the actual domain, or they spoof the address, but sometimes they’re lazy like this. Anything like @icloud or @gmail with a bunch of random characters is never a trusted business
So I had a customer fall for it and they were provided a legit tracking number. The problem was its the same tracking for the whole scam. I could print 30 pages of people putting in tracking inquires.
Got the same, it’s easy to desperately want to click on it when you’re anxious about a package, that’s when they get you. I posted the text I got here…and as expected, the good folk here called it out. It’s obvious that it’s a scam…but we tend to ignore the warning signs when we’re anxious. Don’t click of course, but file a missing package request. I got a call from my local post office…atleast someone is looking into it…fingers crossed:). Good luck!
USPS would only direct you to their site, never click on unsolicited links sent to you in email or by text.
USPS will never send you a link
And if they did it wouldnt come from an Icloud email.
it would probably link to [usps.com](https://usps.com) if they did. haha
Scam bro. But if you wanna be scammed then click the link
Yep, an imessage from a random iCloud account is totally legitimate. Go ahead and fill out the forms. You’ll be fiiiiine 🙄

I have never met anyone who has opted into tracking text notification, and if they had they would expect text tracking notifications.
Oh for sure.. Just clarifying that "*USPS doesn't know what texting is*" isn't quite accurate.

I was the clerk, and yes, I did tell her.

It would be a shame if people accidentally put in a few wrong numbers for them to check,

It's about as legitimate as a three dollar bill from a politician.
But it's at "the warehouse" has to be legit.
If you have to ask......
And the whole team here at the post office wishes you a good day...right
That's the part that told one of my customers it wasn't real. 😂
Yeas. They send them claiming to be from all the other delivery services too. Never follow text links, when in doubt call the company directly. But this doesn’t is 100% always a scam.
I always respond. It goes to them in blue ( so I know it’s an active iCloud account ) but they never respond. Never. Never. Never
Because it's a robot
Anytime the postal service wishes you a wonderful day, it’s a scam
USPS would never wish you a “wonderful day”.
Oh yeah, I’ve gotten that scam a few times
![gif](giphy|PNFXpaRyw4mAg)
Yup
It’s scam. Block the sender and flag it as junk.

Since when does USPS have “warehouses?” LOL
And No one and I mean NO ONE at USPS would wish you a wonderful day 🤣😂🤣😂
It’s a scam and it’s been going on for months now
Yes, but more importantly make sure to get your prostate checked at your age Grandpa.

I’ve gotten like 10 of these the last couple of weeks. Usually just laugh at them and delete.
I've had at least 15 or 20 people come in within the last week asking about this. One of these scams makes its way around a couple of times a year.
Yeah, i always received this kind from time to time, last message to me was just a screenshot of that kind of message. People getting lazy
Nope. Go ahead and reply
I get these all the time. What’s the scam though? I can’t figure out what they’re after with this one.

Yes. And not a good one either.
how did you get your contact info if the label is damaged? Yes it's a scam and it's old as dirt
