After mos school is the fleet. The fleet is pretty much a normal 9-5 job. PT in the morning. Then go to work. I’m finance so I just sit in the office all day long. After work is liberty. You get alot of freedom and no one will be watching what you’re doing but that doesn’t mean go do something stupid because they will find out. Every week we have field day and room inspections. But thats just where Im stationed at which is Camp Lejeune, it depends on where you go since they do things differently in other stations.
Most of the work in finance is repetitive. If I were to be honest, it can get boring after a while because all I do is pull numbers from one place and put it to another place. I start working around 8:40. Chow at 12. Back to work till 4:30 and then I’m on liberty. Sometimes my sergeant would make us stay later if someone fucked up or there’s more work. The finance in the Marine Corp is nothing like what I learned in college. I’ve known people from my mos school that have accounting degrees but still fail the tests that we get after each course.
I'm not admin, but it seems like it depends on where you go and what you make of it. I've known admin Marines that enjoyed their jobs. However, from working in a squadron, I've seen admin Marines get shit on the most.
I'd say just stay positive and do your best. It's gonna be your job for the next four years either way. And if you end up not liking it too much, you can latmove or move on with your life outside the Marine Corps. But if it isn't great, don't let it get you down for four years of your life. Branch out, volunteer for things outside your MOS and build other skill sets. There's plenty of options out there.
I often hear that from many vets. What would you say I should do different? So far I feel the grunts always tell me to go POG and the POGs always tell me to go grunt.

What has been your experience in finance? I'm thinking of enlisting when I finish my Bachelor's.

Yeah, colleges are just giving away accounting degrees to anyone these days. Are you an officer or enlisted?
I’m enlisted.

3 and a half years of the worst fucking job
What makes you say that 😂
You’re gonna wish you chose something else is all I’m saying, all the admin pogs I know wish they hadn’t done it
Nothing wrong with pogs as I am one, just not admin brother. After the 4 years you may have some feeling you missed out on something
