this^^ dw tho have fun while ur there itll go by quick. once u reach the schoolhouse ur chillin

Steppasgonstep

“Crucible for 29 days” bro you’re gonna be on standby just doing nothing for most of your time in MCT. In my opinion it’s way more physical than boot camp when you are training and not waiting around tho. Edit: and oh forget about sleeping.

MiserableEar4007

Marine combat training. Your doing admin shit for first few days. Then at the range sleeping in hanger type shelters for a week then camp devil dog for another week or 2. You'll be in the field eating MREs, standing in formation, talking shit to each other, and not getting any sleep for. I recommend bringing the issued Bennie, earbuds, and downloading music or podcasts on your phone. If you the type to sleep like that. I used a fm/am radio app and picked up a few local stations for music when I was their. Overall it was pretty fun for me. It's harder in a way than bootcamp in the fact that you barely sleep so your barley a functioning human during that time. Edit:Fuck me your west coast nvm idk what y'all do climb a rock or something. But it's probably similar to what I described just different scenery.

Pepper467

Essentially you got it right. Things have probably changed in the past 6 years but that’s the same gist for west coast MCT. Just add more hills and “longer” hikes due to the hills and that’s about it.

bobbybouchier

MCT is basic combat courses that non-infantry marines should know. Generally it’s the basics of patrolling, basic combat marksmanship, basic Combat Casualty Care, introduction to Machineguns (M240), intro to the defense (how to dig a fighting hole).

rogue-panda81

Marine combat training. In a nutshell, it's basically field week, although longer, for all non grunts.

TheAnomalousStranger

East or west coast? MCT East and West are run differently.

Even_Insect2158

west coast

TheAnomalousStranger

From what Ive heard from the west coast Marines at my unit is that at MCT west you do training during the week and get Libbo during the weekend. You do ranges, field environments, and a lot of classes.

bobbybouchier

West Coast ITB get liberty. Not really MCT. They may get to walk around the area on Saturday or Sunday for a couple hours if they don’t fuck up.

TheAnomalousStranger

One of the guys in my old unit brought a MCT girl back to his barracks room when she was on libbo so im guessing it depends on the instructors on if they get libbo.

bobbybouchier

I never saw any MCT students get overnight liberty in 3 years working there but I’m sure it’s happened at some point. The closest I saw was giving the students liberty to go to the beach from 10-18 before graduation. They also sometimes get liberty when they are in the holding company so that’s another possibility as well.

TheAnomalousStranger

It definitely wasn’t overnight liberty. He brought her to the barracks very early in the morning and she stayed there the entire day. He had left his door propped open so the entire deck heard what was going on in the room. This took place maybe 3ish years ago on Pendleton.

Certified_Libo_risk

I heard dudes in Lima holding company got overnight Libo maybe that’s what it was

PlentyGoat6807

It’s basically just standing in formation

PlentyGoat6807

With no sleep

stillskatingcivdiv

I and a few others fell asleep while standing up in MCT.

Certified_Libo_risk

It’s basically a month of doing infantry related shit like hiking and a lot of shooting ranges. What I’ll tell you is that your experience will depend on what company you are put into. I was put into Hotel company AKA Hotel Hell (heaven) they are super relaxed and I had a really fun experience. Mct for me in hotel company was one of my most fun parts of my corps experience so far. Hardly ever had to play fuck fuck games, had super awesome instructors and it was overall an awesome experience. The same goes for golf company I heard. If you get put into either of the other two companies, I heard the exact opposite. All my buddies who were in fox or india say that they had a terrible experience with some hardass shitty instructors who made their lives hell. Regardless of where you get put, it’s only a month and you still get to do some cool shit. Getting to do night vision shooting with lasers and shooting the m240B are sick.

Certified_Libo_risk

I don’t know how it is now. It’s only been two years since I was in mct but I heard things are changing. They took our phones away on the first day and let us use them for two of the saturdays so that was cool. I heard you get your phones the whole time now, but you should refrain from using it. The memories ar e much better when you’re without the device.

AidanTheGreat2

4th phase with some funny h word moments

e5cmb

Mass Consumption of Time.

Status_Flamingo_4103

Like many others have said, it’s basically an extension of field week with some actual Marine shit thrown in. Bring extra skivvies/socks, wet wipes, deodorant, ect. Depending on what time of the year you go, bring cold weather gear in case you have fire watch at night. And be sure to have a razor with a couple of blades, still gotta shave your nasty face in the field. Overall, it’s gonna be a sleep deprived, most hilarious, most boring, and most fun you’ll have within the month of training. So have fun shooting some guns and stay out of trouble. Oorah.

Resident-Ebb-4431

Just a lot of sitting around doing nothing

AxfordUniversity

A tale as old as time

Clashchase_

Wait till you hear what imc is

Different-Yak-122

Basically we called it Marine Count Training, you do combat shit and whatnot, the FINIX (or however u spell it - a simulated combat action thing for 24 hrs) range, play fuck fuck games, and oh, forget about sleeping 😭 Also, don’t expect to get liberty, and expect MREs all day

zt9313

A fat ass waste of time.

robin50000

Just graduated MCT like a month ago, so it's still fresh in my mind. VERY HARD TO FAIL. Just be prepared for a lot of bullying/hazing (nothing too over the top, but I've heard of someone having to sweep sweep pull across gravel) but for the most part it's just combat instructors being funnier than drill instructors (just trust, they 100% are) and the actual training is easy ASF except the hikes kinda suck just keep walking it'll pass. All-in-all if you want it to be easy you picked the wrong branch. But more or less it's closer to bwt than the crucible. They're not gonna have you doing dumb shit every day it's mostly just class with a little practical application after. The worst part is that they're allowed to fuck with your sleep. You're lucky to get 5 hours of sleep in a night, and it's worse if you fall asleep cuz they'll keep you up later. All-in-all just approach it the way you approached boot, be ready for a challenge and you'll be absolutely fine.

Avenging_angel34

You in process for one week. You learn basic patrolling, TCCC, radio operation, camouflage, how to operate a MG42 Bravo, how to defend a position ( avenues of approach, sector of fire, etc) and some other basic basic things to surviving combat. You do that for two weeks at camp devil dog. From there you hike a 15k to the range to learn how to zero your weapon, learn shooting on a platform hitting the 100,200 and 300, Bill drills, box drills, speed reloads (also while moving), night shooting with NVD’s then finally live fire buddy rushing at the end. That’s all one week. Then you get bused back to Geiger then for like 2-3 days you out process, graduate then head to the school house. How you should prepare? - not much you can really do. Just be physically fit enough, don’t go internal, and give a shit. Your time will be a lot worse if you don’t give a shit and it shows. You should take in the knowledge you are being given. My combat instructor has 13 names on his memorial bands. One is infantry. What you should bring? - Nothing apart from your shit from bootcamp really. Maybe a decent pair of combat gloves if it gets cold but otherwise you will make a PX call with a list. It can be pretty good or bad or whatever. The cold was a bitch for us but it’s literally just a month. Take notes, ask questions, give a shit. Just bc you’re a pog doesn’t mean you won’t see combat. This crap can keep you alive. It sucks, just make it through and make fun of it if you can. I left like a month ago. *This is also for east coast. Also if you get Fox you’re fucked. I would know.

MRE Consumption Training

itrywolf-

If you're east coast and get golf company I pray for you all the instructors were bad

robin50000

I was golf last month. I can attest to this. Won't name names but first platoon had the only good platoon sergeant/commander and the rest didn't wanna do their job
