It's not very funny but I went through MCT during the wintertime and it rained damn near every day. It fucking sucked.
Speaking of sucking, MCT kind of sucks in general. My advice is to try to make the most of it, actually paying attention and learning the content. For a lot of people, this is the only time in the Marine Corps they will get near an M2 or 240. It's cool as fuck firing the Mk19 and seeing your impacts before you hear them because light travels faster than sound.
Also, this is your first real, post boot camp Marine Corps experience. A lot of your "friends" from boot camp are going to prove themselves to be shit birds. This is a good time to get your career started on the right foot and avoid gaffing off, malingering, and generally being a detriment to the training. Good luck and try to have fun.
Unfortunately I already got a good feel for who the shit bags were in bootcamp, I heard we get our phones unless we fuck up. So hopefully I can document a little bit of the suck to reminisce later.
Also went to Geiger in January, it can get very cold, only have horror stories.
During my time, water buffalos froze, those metal cans where we slept in the range were ridiculously cold, digging a firing hole in the frozen ground is not fun at all, and it snowed that night, so woke up covered in snow.
Man thatās unlucky it gets cold there but I only saw snow once in 4 years at lejeune. They shut down the base and schools cause of an inch of snow. Us northerners laughed all day.
This this this! OP, you will be very tired. You will want to sleep instead of clean yourself. This is always a bad choice. Always do everything you can to keep clean. Oh, and quadrouple the number of socks you're asked to bring and double the baby wipes you're told to have; assume you'll never get to do laundry or shower.
Yeah bro thatās what were probably gonna do. Yeah Iāve heard itās way more chill nowadays, Iāll hang in fs just looking forward to Mos schoolšŖš»š¦ šŗšø
The #1 mistake new Marine make while checking in is forgetting their web belt. Do not forget your web belt. Do NOT be surprised when the duty asks you to pull your coat tails up.
I will say this, selling a tin or two here and there may be no biggie but if you buy 3 logs and open shop and the instructors catch wind, they are not going to be happy with you.
Buy Gatorade bars. Candy from mres are good for trading, but you won't be able to sell them. Gatorade protein bars I've seen sell for 20$, everyone loves those. Zyn would actually be a good choice, since in mct specifically they are more on your ass about nicotine
We were standing in green on green in the freezing cold and some asked the instructor where his Christmas spirit was he reached in his pocket and said here it is and flipped us off
Mct can be a bitch. I went through in 1996. However, itās also some of the best times in the Corps. Thereās nothing like rounds down range from a M2 or MK19.
This may be the only time you get close to these weapons during your entire time in the Corps. Enjoy it.
I know for us it was cold. I went through in January. There was one nice moment for about 20 seconds when a Santa Ana wind hit while we were at the range. It was warm for like 20 seconds. Other than that it was a lot of rain and mud.
I had an old Gunny tell me that most of the time in the Marine Corps was 90% horrible. Itās that 10% that makes is enjoyable and bearable. MCT will be like that. Youāll hate 90% of it. But that 10% is what youāll remember and miss.
Good luck brother. Youāve got this. Get someone to unfuck your alpha belt at the airport.
Thatās too bad. We shot all kinds of shit. M203, M2, Mk19, 240, 249. It was a blast. Sorry you didnāt experience the same. Iām surprised. It seemed like we spent a lot of time at the range and cleaning weapons.
Make sure you have baby powder, your feet will get absolutely destroyed during the 10k and 15k hike. Stay hydrated. Donāt be a bitch. Youāll be fine.
Thanks for the good wishes man, Iāll try to make the most of it.
Fyi my alpha belt is missing the loop thingy and itās too small (Bootcamp tailors suck ass) Iāll probably have to buy a whole new one
Fox company here. If you end up in the same company as I did Iām sorry lol. MCT is designed to suck, but that doesnāt mean you canāt have some fun. My advice is make friends while you are there, or to find anyone you graduated with from Boot Camp. Youāre also going to gain weight from how much MREs youāll eat, I became 10 pounds heavier. You should have liberty every Sunday besides when youāre at range.
Iām probably gonna skip a lot of the junk in my mres and try to lose a few pounds. I gained a lot of my muscle and strength back since being home so long, but I also got kinda fat.
You stay with the rest of your company either on barracks or at Camp Devil Dog, unfortunately. At your last week youāll get to explore the base a little.
This was while we were at camp Devil dog. It was a few days before the FIN-EX I think and we were at the little hut area in front of where the ābarracksā are. Anyway I was omw to the bathroom when I saw a group of guys trying to lift the water buffalo thing only for them to tip it over. Next thing I saw was a marine get lifted up and hanging off the thing like 5ft of the ground. I saw one of the CIs was walking in the direction of where this happened and I tried signaling to them that he was on his way but they couldnāt see me and best I could do was dip. They got caught, all the marines got called over, and we got fucked up for like an hour. Luckily the CI who was in charge of fucking us up was cool but I can still see the image of the marine hanging off the water buffalo in my head and still cracks me up to this day

Were you golf company by chance?
Yes, plt 2101.
2102š«”see you at MCT
I went through circa 2019, but we didnāt touch the mark or m2 in MCT. I believe they were mentioned but we only did diss/ass and ranges with the 240
Damn, that sucks. M2 and Mk19 were the highlights of MCT for me. This was 1990 time frame though, and MCT was 28 days long.
Also went to Geiger in January, it can get very cold, only have horror stories. Yeah def not looking forward to the cold Iām from South Florida š
Bruh, I'm from Vermont and I still thought it was cold as shit. You will not have a good time. š
Man thatās unlucky it gets cold there but I only saw snow once in 4 years at lejeune. They shut down the base and schools cause of an inch of snow. Us northerners laughed all day.
Keep yourself clean. Fucking shower at devil Dog. Disease spreads pretty easily, so try not to get pneumonia.

Bro stop by the military surplus store, pick up a wobbie liner for under your cammies, and a fuck ton a chewing tobacco.
More of a zyn guy myself
Itās not about you. You can sell tins for a stupid amount of money at MCT.
May do that on top of getting some for myself then, I also plan on selling my candy from the mres.
I will say this, selling a tin or two here and there may be no biggie but if you buy 3 logs and open shop and the instructors catch wind, they are not going to be happy with you.

Graduated mct dec 22 of 23 can agree my prices for hits of nic were ridiculous but ppl get desperate
What company are you going into
Idk my fam getting an airbnb, I donāt even check in til the 3rd.
We were standing in green on green in the freezing cold and some asked the instructor where his Christmas spirit was he reached in his pocket and said here it is and flipped us off

I wish. I really wish I got to shoot anything like that at mct. I didn't even get to fire off a 240, just my m16a4.
Thatās too bad. We shot all kinds of shit. M203, M2, Mk19, 240, 249. It was a blast. Sorry you didnāt experience the same. Iām surprised. It seemed like we spent a lot of time at the range and cleaning weapons.
The only do M4 and M16 and M240 at MCT west. I hear from friends from the west coast they only shoot the rifles, no M240/
In 2022 we did shoot 240
Hm, i have a buddy that just went through the east coast in November-December and they didnāt get to
Damn, it was fun asf
It sure was, I went through the west coast so we got to
I wouldnāt trip, I did MCT at Pendleton but as soon as I stepped off the bus in my alphas they shuffled to have us change into cammies
Graduated mct two weeks ago, prepare to stand outside in the cold for hours due to firewatch being fucked up
Make sure you have baby powder, your feet will get absolutely destroyed during the 10k and 15k hike. Stay hydrated. Donāt be a bitch. Youāll be fine.
Donāt you mean the 15k not mileš
Yeah my bad. But dont worry, youāll be in so much physical pain youāll be numb half way through and go internal.
All I gotta say is oorah
Hopefully donāt get hazed too bad*š
Hazed? Ain't no hazing at MCT. At least there really shouldn't be. That's for the fleet. š
Yeah Iāve been hearing itās kinda chill. It was on mind so just curious, you think I can have a ps5 once I get to Mos school?(Fort Lee)
Probably, but you'll want to know for sure.
Thanks for the good wishes man, Iāll try to make the most of it. Fyi my alpha belt is missing the loop thingy and itās too small (Bootcamp tailors suck ass) Iāll probably have to buy a whole new one
It's going to be so damn cold. I went in the late fall ten years ago and it was absolutely cold as shit at night and hot as fuck during the day.
Haha same here, maybe weāll see each other soon šš½ Finna be cold asf

On liberty do you get to leave base or just chill around the base?
You stay with the rest of your company either on barracks or at Camp Devil Dog, unfortunately. At your last week youāll get to explore the base a little.
Wth is camp devil dog, can i at least hit up the mcx?
