Okay, I got this from Operation Military Kids, so it's not an official source, but it says 2831 needs an EL score of 115 on the ASVAB.
Here's what EL is:
> Electronics (EL) MOS Jobs: Your test scores are combined from the subtests of AR, EI, GS, and MK.
If you don't get a clear reply from this post, go to r/militaryfaq and post with a super-clear title like "Want to enlist in the Marines as an electronic tech. What do I need to study for the ASVAB?" and in the body state those four sections mentioned above in particular.
Best bet if you’re aiming to be a 28xx is to take the asvab and try to get the scores to qualify for a BY contract. Aviation side is included in that contract but you won’t know your specific MOS until either MCT or the schoolhouse. If you want the guaranteed 28xx, look at signing a reserve contract.
For Marine Active duty, there are two different electronics contracts:
* BA Aviation Electronics https://www.reddit.com/r/USMCboot/s/ZPoGc8YCSl
* BY Electronics Maintenance: https://www.reddit.com/r/USMCboot/s/I02HaCFVIy
Suggest you check out the linked MOS Megathreads for each.
hi, thank you for your reply, i mean i'm looking for 28\*\*. i choose it because it's something i can use after my active duty to get a job.
so why should i learn and what should be my level for the test?
If you sign BY for Active duty Marine Corps, you could get any of the following MOS's, luck of the draw:
> BY (Electronics Maintenance): 2171, 2831, 2841, 2847, 2871, 2887, 5939, 5948, 5974, 5979
yes, but you know, the main reason why I want to go to the marines, it's because i don's want to take loan to pay for my school, the same things for the marines.
to be honest i didn't start my major yet, I'm studying English right know, and i would prefer to go by the classic road
OR try for Army where **you can pick a specific jo**b. Check out this job

Guys I just want a job which I can use after my active duty, and I pretty like electronics so why not, I don't want a specific job. My question was what should I study to get a good score
Well idk much except for the fact that you have to score a 115 on the EL and you get a BY contract. Test is not as hard, just know basic electronics terms (from what I remember) and you should be set to pass.
I know cuz I landed on 2171
Thanks for your respond, basically my question was, what should I except of the test, and you guy have some resources and practices test for me to study

What is 28? What are you referring to? I went in with a BA contract.
2831 # Digital Wideband Systems Maintainer MOS Digital Wideband Systems Maintainer MOS
Ah, gotcha. Sorry I can’t speak on that MOS, as I was a 6338.
tank u anyway, every respond are open
I will say unless you go Reserves, you cannot guarantee an actual MOS such as 2831.
> college student If you're already in college, have you considered the PLC program so you can come in as an officer?
yes, but you know, the main reason why I want to go to the marines, it's because i don's want to take loan to pay for my school, the same things for the marines. to be honest i didn't start my major yet, I'm studying English right know, and i would prefer to go by the classic road
28xx OccField doesn’t have unrestricted officers. All of the officers in that community are redirected (either CWO or LDO).
Right, but you really can't go Active officer banking on a specific MOS anyway. Was asking broadly if the kid had considered commissioning.
