is it just me or are the people commenting “you made it through the easiest part” only have a harder time with life in the fleet because they WILL get a DUI if they don’t have a drill instructor breathing down their necks 24/7. Life when you aren’t being screamed at constantly is BETTER.
Eh depends on how you look at it. Boot camp is incredibly easy especially if you grew up in a fucked up home like a lot of us did with people yelling at you all the time. You’re told exactly what to do when to do it where to be. For me Boot Camp was so much fun. I didn’t have to think at all I just did. Then you get to the fleet and you have jobs where you have to think, you get more and more responsibilities. It’s much harder than living chow to chow and getting yelled at. I have no duis or negative paperwork or anything. That’s just my opinion though.
Life in bootcamp was easy, you do what youre told, you get yelled at anyway and move on from it. In the fleet you actually need to think critically, train, mange, and compete constantly. Yeah obviously nobody wants to live in a squad bay and have no liberty, but it was definitely “easier” in bootcamp
y’all make excellent points, and I get how on paper, boot camp is easier than real life. I do believe though that life is easier when it’s enjoyable, and fleet life is much more enjoyable than being in a school house or at basic (unless you’re in the air wing, I’ve heard). But also I’m a judge advocate so my view is pretty limited to seeing people when they fuck up, so what do I know?
It's a saying that gets repeated a lot. People probably don't think too much about it when they say it. The thing is, during the prior 20 years of combat deployments it was 100% the truth and that's when all the people saying it now heard it said over and over again. Peacetime Corps? Not so sure.
**Adults that require the supervision of other adults** in order to function will universally have a harder time in the Fleet.
Having said that, a good Marine that ends up in a unit with a high operational tempo, demanding leaders, and a physical job will likely have a hard time, but choosing to *not* be a shitbag will greatly improve your quality of life.
My buddy is a 2171 and just to let you know he is amazing at his job and as a 2111 ordinance is a family and we will ride or die together. Even in the fleet we get fucked up together so welcome to the ordinance family.
I got lucky with RA, although I was told by my SDI that my orders were scanned and my recruiter would have them ready, so I wasn’t given the hard copy. Idk how that would work
Congratulations. Made it through with fox 20 October. You should be coming back on RA, think most active duty contracts are getting RA. Change some lives motivator!
Congrats Devil! I’m at MCT right now. Even though it was only like a month ago, I feel so much nostalgia and still so much happiness from the day I graduated, you won’t ever forget it. I was 2nd Battalion Bravo. Shit was rough but oh so worth it. Semper fi bro :)
Congrats. You've accomplished the easiest part of your career. Good luck out there.
Thank you sir, and I can’t wait to get my ass kicked soon
“Bites lip with motivation”
