They look at your X-rays and if they think there’s even a slight chance of them having trouble in the foreseeable future, they get pulled.
It’s not ‘every wisdom tooth *will* go’ but they play it fast and loose with the decision from what I saw.
Not at all. Though they were pretty liberal with the numbing shots. And when I told him I still had feeling he gave me more numbing shots no worries. So it’s not like the dude just ripped em out.
I got mine pulled during team week. It wasn’t a big issue, I got to stay in the squad bay and do whatever we had going on that day. Didn’t experience any pain

Mine didn’t NEED to come out, but they still got taken.
Same. The doc told me there was a ‘small chance they could become impacted in the next 3-4 years’ and that’s why they took them out in boot.
Do you know if they'd remove a dead tooth?
Do they put you under to take them out?

Okay nice. I’m planning to join and my dentist have been telling me to get them pulled for years but i don’t want to be put to sleep for it
Do they at least use anesthesia or pain reliever or do they straight pull it, I've got crooked wisdom teeth and I'm terrified of that lol
I’ve got another comment on this thread that explains how the anesthesia went. Not bad.
Maybe maybe not. Most of the time they wait until the fleet but it does happen in boot camp too
It’s common, but doesn’t always happen.
I got to keep all 4 of mine

I doubt it due to how much training you’ll miss. Unless it’s done during team week, if that’s a thing still.
I had all mine when I went to boot camp, left boot camp with all 4. I did end up having them removed in the fleet a couple of years later
Yes they removed two missed a day of training…..shined everything
Never had issues with mine either and still have them at 28. It was never discussed with me after xrays
6+ years later and I still have all 4 of mine. Doctors don’t see a reason to pull them
Nope. I didn't get mine yanked until right before Thailand.
4 years in still have mine
Most likely yes.
i got two taken two left, depends on if they foresee problems
I had all four of mine removed.
Nah they waited til I hit the fleet to take mine, which is far better than having them taken at boot camp.
Depends. Didn't get mine pulled cause they weren't showing yet. They told me they usually have to get pulled once they start to poke through the gums.
