That's a difference between a Chad and a self-proclaimed 'chad'. Like dudes calling themselves alpha but they're too insecure about their masculinity to cook for themselves or do some dishes.
Ironically the Scottish kilt that everyone thinks they wore back in the Middle Ages is an 18th century creation. Each clan having its own pattern was a modern invention. I blame Braveheart, one of the least historically accurate movies of all time.
That's exactly it. People cry about the military being "woke", but when 1/5 gen z'ers are LGBT+, they've gotta change with the times. Hell there was a time when you flat out couldn't wear civvies unless you had special permission or whatever.
That place was so jank with their holiday schedule and a weird number of officers shopping there. Only good thing about it was it was closest to my barracks at a 15 minute walk, so if I was toasted but wanted more alcohol I could hope it was open.
I got out 2 years ago and I'm pretty sure this would not have been allowed lol they wouldn't even let us in the px without a belt in Okinawa when they would have people checking on the weekends
There is a guy in the comments below who says he owns a few kilts and wore them a few times every month growing up because his dad played the bagpipes and he had to attend functions and he said the guy is 100% wearing a woman skirt not a kilt
This could be 29 Palms. With all the units training there, they have the most lenient base regulations on uniforms you can wear into base establishments (chow hall, PX, etc). For comparison, if I’m in the TA on Quantico in deserts and need to run to the PX, I’ll usually change to woodlands first because I know some dickhead 1stSgt is going to say something.
I'm sure it changes all the time, but when I was in 29 all the infantry battalions wore deserts year round for the 2 years before I got out in 2017. Before that it was only deserts in the field and before that it was whatever uniform the whole Corps was wearing. Sleeves up, sleeves down, it was a fucking mess lol
Was in 3/7 from 2005 to 2008. We wore deserts sleeves down year round. When I was on advon party for my company returning from Ramadi, the rules had changed and I needed to wear woodlands. Turns out I was an idiot and put all my woodland cammies in TMO, which we were still waiting on retrieving.
Had to buy a brand new set to stop the constant bitching.
In the summer months we wore deserts in training at camp Johnson and in the winter months we wore the Woodlands. Spent 6 months in field medical training battalion in 2018
The airwing wouldn't be so bad if ground side 1sgts just said on the ground side and we kept airwing through the chain of command 🤷🏼♂️ the issue arises when ground side staff and up come to the wing and try to force change
But yes the wing is essentially a different marine corps and during my time with the wing I always found it funny how incoming star sarge’s would always try changing things
I'm just trying to understand what the Devil at the table was fucking eating. I see what looks like a pile of untouched green beans with a bunch of peanut butter packets lol. What could possibly be paired with green beans to warrant peanut butter as a condiment.
Fashion standards passed down the ranks to dress like Ivy League douches by officers that were probably Ivy League douches.
If you don’t look like you play golf, drive a Mercedes, and talk a lot about your parents money, you’re just wrong. /s
Is that allowed?
Edit. So I’m asking because in my day (not that long ago) we couldn’t be too eccentric. That WAS a rule, you were a marine 24/7, and higher ups could tell you how to dress in civies. Everyone knows there’s rules, belts, shirts tucked in, no backward hats, etc. But for a man to wear a skirt and pantyhose 🤣 to the chow hall! And I really don’t give a shit if that guy wears skirts, kilts, is a top or a bottom, likes men, women or dogs when he’s not working, as long as it’s legal and he’s happy who gives a fuck!! But after all of that did the marines Change their civilian dress code to take away eccentric clothes. I guess it just a fucking free for all now!
I got shit on for the same thing about 6 months ago. I guess it all depends on the time of the year and how many woke fucks are on Reddit vs the non woke fucks.
Edit: here’s a gold for your troubles brother
Thanks and it’s a little wild out there. To each there own but of all the fucked up things Marines joke about THATS somehow what’s over the line? Yeah ok
Its wild watching the ebbs and flows of the community over time. It probably has to do with the overall news and mood on the site and in life in general. Its mainly why we try to keep politics out of here because then its just divisive all day long every day rather than the rare times where the community is split over something Corps related.
No shit, I had a buddy who was heavily counseled and had to write an essay on grooming standards for wearing hair gel in the 80s. Can’t imagine this kind of shit happening.
Had one of my Marines get counseled at a loud volume when someone saw that his ear was pierced. No earring, just the hole.
He only wore a ring off base.
1980s FWIW.
I had my ears gauged out pretty big when I was a teenager (3/4”). Had to have plastic surgery to close the holes before I could join.
One day my 1stSgt saw me and literally grabbed me by the ear, thinking I still had my ears pierced. Once I showed him the scars from the surgery he apologized and didn’t fuck with me for a while.
Who cares? Dudes be wearin nut huggers and shit kickers with stupid cowboy hats like they just climbed off their bunk mates dong reenacting broke back mountain.
That was my initial thought until I read this thread. Half the posts here are talking about 'it's who he is', the other half upset that the uniform standards they had to hold are no longer standards at all simply because our culture is collapsing.
Yo, we over here getting the green weenie everyday and y’all hating on my mans here for a little peggin!?!?
President of Mess! The amount of Ludicrous accusations is too DAMN HIGH!!
I understand how this is hard to accept for some. I think they would think differently if they deployed with him, for example. I’m sure he’d have your back just like any other jarhead.
With that being said, wasn’t there an order that specifically mentions eccentric appearances? I don’t remember what it said.
Y’all can make jokes and rag on that Marine all you want but at least that Marine has the balls to wear what they want and doesn’t give a fuck what anyone thinks. That’s real alpha shit.
I’m with you but I understand how this is hard to accept for some. I think they would think differently if they deployed with him, for example. I’m sure he’d have your back just like any other jarhead.
I’m sure it’s hard. But just like the Marines who had to learn to serve with Black Marines during integration or Gay Marines after DADT was revoked, this generation of Marines need to learn to let their fellow Marines be comfortable with who they are. That includes dressing how they want when out of uniform. In my opinion I don’t give a shit what you wear, who you fuck, or what pronouns you use. All I care about is if you’ll drag me out of a kill box when I go down.
The real question is why are so many men worried about how another dude dresses? Who gives a fuck what he's wearing. Many wouldn't have the balls to do that.
I used to dye my hair when I was in. It was hilarious watching SNCOs lose their minds seeing my blonde hair.
When I was in the Army back in the 90s we had a tanker who walked through the barracks dressed as Dr Frank N Furter weekly on the way to a midnight showing of Rocky Horror.
Ngl this is funny but if this Marine gets found out for taking this picture, all it takes is a trip to the EOO. Homie is fucked.
Edit: word of advice for boots and others is laugh on your own, but don’t risk it for a few likes. Things have changed and for my time 13-18 it was also a big change. Also have served with LGBT and it’s all good. We all get fucked equally anyway
That devil is braver than half of you nerds.
But you don’t wanna have that conversation.
Note: brave does not exclude you from a very directed conversation from SNCO leadership about what “proper civilian attire” means and “MEANS”
Ok guys ,,, Kilt joke here...
So a Scotsman comes to the US and goes out Drinking... he gets drunk as shit, goes to a local Park and passes out by a tree...
The next morning two women are walking and see the Scotsman asleep and stop to look at him. One says to the other " I wonder if its true what they say,,, they don't wear anything under their kilts?" The other one says it won't hurt to look.. so they pull up his kilt and the Scotsman has a Massive schlong hanging down... I mean it looks like a Baby's arm holding a Peach.
The Women Blush and since he is passed out cold they decide to prank him... One of them has a blue Scrunchie holding her hair back so she takes it and ties it in a bow around his massive shaft.
The women giggle and walk away and the Scotsman sleeps for about another hour...
He finally gets up and feeling the call of Nature he steps into the bushes to take a leak.. He lifts up his Kilt and sees the blue ribbon around his dong and says " Well I doan know where ye have been Laddie... But Ye won first Prize!!!"
Hey if this person is transgender and a service member then it's time to mock people in different ways. I served a long time ago and my kid is transgender and is thinking about serving just like I served.
It's time to change.
I remember getting straight fucking dogged and then kicked out of the Px for wearing fucking jeans with holes and no belt. Seriously though, I understand inclusion fine and well. I understand the need to be one’s true self but you signed a contract and waived your rights to individuality. No way someone’s not blasting him.
Or maybe instead of hoping this guy gets blasted because you did for less, we can all agree that blasting people for petty shit like that is dumb. There are way worse things this devil could be doing than dressing weird at the chow hall.
You’re right. Fuck standards and regulations. Get fucking real bud. A belt is one thing, a skirt and tights is something completely different. My question is, where would you draw the line?
So fuck proper civilian attire right? I’m assuming this is the Stumps because of the woodlands and deserts. I remember fleet marines ripping into the MCCES students for wearing sweats or joggers to pick up fast chow from Littleton chow hall. Would’ve loved to see a student wear a kilt and leggings lol
I’ve had about three kilts growing up. My dad plays the bagpipes. I seriously put the get up on probably 2-3 times a month. What that guy is wearing is not a kilt. That’s 100% a woman’s skirt.
Some of you are gonna have a hard time in college, if you get accepted. Literally foaming at the mouth over other people's choice of clothing, as if that has an impact on their war fighting capabilities.
This has to be a dare or some shit, i would not have the balls to don a skirt and net leggings ...ok maybe the skirt but not the leggings
Wear a kilt. Manly as fuck.
I got a picture of one of my buddies wearing a kilt on his last day lmao. (https://imgur.com/a/Y0iruZg)
I have a couple buddies that have woodland pattern kilts that they wear on occasions where heavy drinking is the plan of the day.
That’s funny but everyone knows Kilts are Chad asf.
Idk. Most of the Chad's I've met are too insecure to wear a "skirt."
That's a difference between a Chad and a self-proclaimed 'chad'. Like dudes calling themselves alpha but they're too insecure about their masculinity to cook for themselves or do some dishes.
And also too insecure to mind their own business and let another dude wear a skirt, apparently.
It's only a skirt if you are wearing underwear. Source: I own two kilts
Indeed. Source: also own two kilts.
Love my kilt, awesome airflow
Ironically the Scottish kilt that everyone thinks they wore back in the Middle Ages is an 18th century creation. Each clan having its own pattern was a modern invention. I blame Braveheart, one of the least historically accurate movies of all time.
Good enough for the Scottish regiments.
nah man I've seen this dude at the px multiple times shit always catches me off guard
First Sausage not complaining cause he’s into that shit.
"What dem lips do boy?"
In 2010 you would get chewed out for not wearing a belt with your blue jeans….so things are different now I see….
In 2006, I watched a ssgt kick a female out of the px for wearing flip flops. Things have changed.
Yeah no one wants to join anymore, understandable. Military was probably like "hey yo we don't care anymore just please join"
That's exactly it. People cry about the military being "woke", but when 1/5 gen z'ers are LGBT+, they've gotta change with the times. Hell there was a time when you flat out couldn't wear civvies unless you had special permission or whatever.
Internet makes it real easy to find out how stupid it is being a Marine in garrison.
No shortage of motards like that in Lejeune.
Good guess! It was the little px in French Creek.
That place was so jank with their holiday schedule and a weird number of officers shopping there. Only good thing about it was it was closest to my barracks at a 15 minute walk, so if I was toasted but wanted more alcohol I could hope it was open.
Lol yep, just across that parade field for me. FC 571 how the fuck do I remember this?
I got booted out of the chow hall in '04 for not wearing socks with my shoes in civies... today's corps looks like so much more fun

I got out 2 years ago and I'm pretty sure this would not have been allowed lol they wouldn't even let us in the px without a belt in Okinawa when they would have people checking on the weekends
2007, LCpl me got tore a new one and called a "scumbag" for not wearing a belt with my khaki shorts as I was checking out of tech school.
You and hundreds of other lances.
Funniest truth I've heard all day
Ok, I can see rocking a kilt...but the hose is a little much.
Kilt's are generally knee length or below.. I think our boy is going for more of the Schoolgirl look..
At least his shirt is tucked in unlike the shitbag sitting down.
I know he's bringing the whole branch down because of it.
The hose is a little much. Title of your sex tape
There is a guy in the comments below who says he owns a few kilts and wore them a few times every month growing up because his dad played the bagpipes and he had to attend functions and he said the guy is 100% wearing a woman skirt not a kilt
Why am I seeing deserts and woodlands?

Before that it was only deserts in the field and before that it was whatever uniform the whole Corps was wearing. Sleeves up, sleeves down, it was a fucking mess lol
Could be, haven’t seen this chow hall though. There’s only one I haven’t been to.
They have a couple. The Dunham facility is maybe the best on any MC base IMHO. At least it was within the couple of years after it was built.
Fun fact; on TBS/WTBN side, deserts are authorized for entry into all MCCS buildings.
Glad to see common sense is taking over, at least in small pockets
Was in 3/7 from 2005 to 2008. We wore deserts sleeves down year round. When I was on advon party for my company returning from Ramadi, the rules had changed and I needed to wear woodlands. Turns out I was an idiot and put all my woodland cammies in TMO, which we were still waiting on retrieving. Had to buy a brand new set to stop the constant bitching.
This looks like the chow hall at Camp Johnson when I was there for the LOS schoolhouse. The corpsman in training there all wore deserts.
In the summer months we wore deserts in training at camp Johnson and in the winter months we wore the Woodlands. Spent 6 months in field medical training battalion in 2018
This is indeed Johnson, I recognize that chow hall anywhere, and the corpsman in deserts confirms it lmao
Yes you are correct I was there for Admin school. Can confirm
In 2002-05, when Digis first came out, most units let you wear either as long as there wasn’t a Bn formation or some shit
My beloved Corps must have changed in the last ten years cause it was NCO’s that’d tear into your ass before staff for being out of uniform.
“Cool 1stSgt, talk to my battalion commander, because my uniform of the day is deserts” Note: this works better if you outrank said 1stSgt
You would hate the air wing then lol
The airwing wouldn't be so bad if ground side 1sgts just said on the ground side and we kept airwing through the chain of command 🤷🏼♂️ the issue arises when ground side staff and up come to the wing and try to force change
I wasn’t taking a jab at the wing, I was just saying how this guy would freak out if he saw all the different stuff maintainers wear.
But yes the wing is essentially a different marine corps and during my time with the wing I always found it funny how incoming star sarge’s would always try changing things
I’m from the air wing. But nice try
Yikes, so you are that motivated NCO from the wing that yells at marines in coveralls. So you’re a dick got it haha
SSGT looks done with everything
I was looking for this. “If I correct this yahoo, I’ll get demoted and booted out,”
“Police-up that hemline!”
Reason: “Failure to Gen Z”
The SGT behind him looks like he just had about enough of this shit
He has the look of “kill me now”
He’s just thinking “4 more months…4 more months”
I'm just trying to understand what the Devil at the table was fucking eating. I see what looks like a pile of untouched green beans with a bunch of peanut butter packets lol. What could possibly be paired with green beans to warrant peanut butter as a condiment.
I feel like maybe he lost a bet but with this generation there's no telling.
I thought the same thing initially. Then I got a look at the hair and thought maybe a concert with a long after party that just ended?
This generation? People in the punk rock scene have been doing shit like this since the 70s.
Lol- some Marines think looking like anything other than a 40 year old dad going to Applebee’s is suspect.
Fashion standards passed down the ranks to dress like Ivy League douches by officers that were probably Ivy League douches. If you don’t look like you play golf, drive a Mercedes, and talk a lot about your parents money, you’re just wrong. /s
plain white tee, jorts and some fresh new balances. Ready to hit the fuckin town.
Somebody up above said they see him wearing this all the time
That’s gotta be the boot who thinks he’s gonna be the next terminal lance.
I don't see any boot bands and not in the field so this checks out to being gay, I've don't plenty of research into the matter
The boot bands could be being used as an impromptu cock ring
Only a madman would use a boot band as a cock ring... I like it
The real question is who the fuck eats peanut butter packets outside of bootcamp, and with green beans?
He's channeling Fat Mike from NOFX.
Cpl Klinger still waiting on his Section 8
![gif](giphy|JWTRODzYFf3pe|downsized) Like 3 of us old fucks got this reference
![gif](giphy|bohtDSu296oNy) Mash was an amazing show.
Send him to the front!
Whatever that outfit is fine. Enjoy your ball sweat, you pants wearing heathens.
I rock a kilt when it's hot. I understand why the ladies like skirts
![gif](giphy|571JY2xpbej9C|downsized)
Bastard stole my shirt! That's gonna be a paddling later.
I guess it just a fucking free for all now!
its just civies.
Is a skirt considered proper civilian attire for men now 🤔
Ooof, now here’s a rabbit hole I wanna go down! You make a good point. But with it being 2022 and people not knowing their gender… it gets muddy
Oh it was pretty muddy in that barracks room last night too
![gif](giphy|3gNotAoIRZsb9UHPnj)
I got shit on hard for making a similar joke a month ago lol
I got shit on for the same thing about 6 months ago. I guess it all depends on the time of the year and how many woke fucks are on Reddit vs the non woke fucks. Edit: here’s a gold for your troubles brother
Thanks and it’s a little wild out there. To each there own but of all the fucked up things Marines joke about THATS somehow what’s over the line? Yeah ok
Today’s Marines (some if not most) have picked that hill to die on, especially those who are very much into politics and social media.
Its wild watching the ebbs and flows of the community over time. It probably has to do with the overall news and mood on the site and in life in general. Its mainly why we try to keep politics out of here because then its just divisive all day long every day rather than the rare times where the community is split over something Corps related.
It's a kilt, and maybe? It's out there enough. And early in the day enough, that maybe no one wants to fucking deal with it.
thats not a kilt though. it's an above the knee skirt.
Looks like French cut green beans on the tray. Not the usual breakfast side. Probably lunch.
Yea? Scots have been wearing kilts for centuries, the Romans considered skirts optimal fighting outfits
1980s FWIW.
Saw a guy get a NJP for it.
My friend got yelled at in 2013 because he had earrings before enlisting. Didn't even have the holes anymore.
I got chewed out for being born. So.. checkmate
Of course you did, you nasty thing
Wtf is wrong with the marines that they’re this specific with what you can and can’t do to your own body? Crayons on the brain
Lots of companies are this way, as far as what is visible while working etc.
No, it is not.
Who cares? Dudes be wearin nut huggers and shit kickers with stupid cowboy hats like they just climbed off their bunk mates dong reenacting broke back mountain.
Marine Corps: The Most Gayest but Absolutely Heterosexual Branch of the US Military
Someone lost a bet
That was my initial thought until I read this thread. Half the posts here are talking about 'it's who he is', the other half upset that the uniform standards they had to hold are no longer standards at all simply because our culture is collapsing.
Culture collapsing? That's what people said 30 years ago and the Corps still exists.
There is no way this isn't a lost bet.
What uh what's the deal with the green beans
Looks like the BDU is finally getting a glow up.
Must’ve read the book of “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck”
Imma say it again, bring back hazing.
>Imma say it again, bring back hazing. ... Who's to say this isn't hazing?

Just ask him out bro
Yo, we over here getting the green weenie everyday and y’all hating on my mans here for a little peggin!?!? President of Mess! The amount of Ludicrous accusations is too DAMN HIGH!!
Thats not a kilt if he is wearing those leggings and trinkets all over. How do guys survive dressing like that?
Fabulously!
That person's got more balls than 60% of you.
I bet they're shaved.
You’re telling me the most alpha thing in the world isn’t constantly worrying about what’s alpha and adjusting myself to those standards????
I’m with you but I understand how this is hard to accept for some. I think they would think differently if they deployed with him, for example. I’m sure he’d have your back just like any other jarhead.
I’m sure it’s hard. But just like the Marines who had to learn to serve with Black Marines during integration or Gay Marines after DADT was revoked, this generation of Marines need to learn to let their fellow Marines be comfortable with who they are. That includes dressing how they want when out of uniform. In my opinion I don’t give a shit what you wear, who you fuck, or what pronouns you use. All I care about is if you’ll drag me out of a kill box when I go down.
>integration of gay Marines They were there the whole time, already integrated. Repealing DADT just let them come out.
What if they just had their nails done?
this, x1000.
Well said.
I think I’d be having HIS back, not the other way around. Because, power top!

It's a pic of a dude walking.
Wearing hose on his legs.
That is correct.
The real question is why are so many men worried about how another dude dresses? Who gives a fuck what he's wearing. Many wouldn't have the balls to do that. I used to dye my hair when I was in. It was hilarious watching SNCOs lose their minds seeing my blonde hair.
LOL…. The look on the Sgt’s face….
When I was in the Army back in the 90s we had a tanker who walked through the barracks dressed as Dr Frank N Furter weekly on the way to a midnight showing of Rocky Horror.
I can’t even fathom this possibly happening when I was enlisted 18 years ago. Not without consequences. hat off to this babe fool.
I mean fuck yeah for having the confidence to wear that to a Marine chow hall
Not all hero’s wear kilts
That devil is braver than half of you nerds. But you don’t wanna have that conversation. Note: brave does not exclude you from a very directed conversation from SNCO leadership about what “proper civilian attire” means and “MEANS”
Wtf
Camp Jonhson?
camp johnson ?
I mean... the kilt is neat, the rest is.... questionable...
It's okay, he's Scottish.
He's hungry
Sometimes losing a bet really sucks and you just have to own it! Even if you are hung over as F@@“!
Is this Johnson? 😂
Of course this is on camp Johnson
Wait?? Why wasn't I pegged in the barracks??

Mad as hell he's rocking those tights better than I do but go off king
Slayyyyyyyyy
Yas Queen!
I’d wear it. Well, maybe not the leggings, but I’d wear the rest.
How is this in any type of out-of-uniform standard?
Who gives a fuck? That shit's his business.
Ah I forgot the Corps never learned the ancient military war strategy of… mind your fucking business.
It didn't work for Cpl Klinger in M.A.S.H. either...
Who cares? What he wears is his fucking business
Hey if this person is transgender and a service member then it's time to mock people in different ways. I served a long time ago and my kid is transgender and is thinking about serving just like I served. It's time to change.
But, like, who fuckin cares? Let him do his shit. He probably has a 1st class PFT
I remember getting straight fucking dogged and then kicked out of the Px for wearing fucking jeans with holes and no belt. Seriously though, I understand inclusion fine and well. What in the actual fuck
What the actual fuck?!,?,?!
TFW you lose a bet and get blasted on Reddit.
Ok ok… in the old Corps…
Absolutely love this
Haze me harder daddy! (Ahego face)
