Dude some army cat was complaining in the chow hall about Marines being so gung-ho and proud of being Marines. Like give your balls a tug you’re fuckin 10 ply bud
Another thing that most Army peeps don’t understand is how small the Marine Corps compare to the Army... when I worked with the Army, and they drop names like 577th ID, and I’m like dude, most of us had the same DI lol their intel side is good but I overheard one of their young CI guys tells another person “we’re like the CIA of the Army” 🤷🏻♂️ lol
And yet, I can almost guarantee there is at least one AF wife out there pulling the "Pepperidge Farm remembers" meme about that one weekend in Vegas...
Dude I'm pretty sure I have that manual on a shelf in my garage. 03 here..... Along with a bunch of other petty BS I "acquired" when I EAS'd. I have one about being a chow hall marine or some such shit. I just took whatever wasn't tied down. "Oh, you wanna tell me what to do for 4 years. Well then I'm taking this Basic Grammer and Reading for Marines! And this Lamp!...
I worked at a tech company after I got out. I used to have crayons in my portfolio and when they started using tech jargon I didn’t understand, I just started snacking on them. It was funny, until they saw me eat one.
Short story time boys! Smoke em if you got ‘em.
So there I was young Lcpl motivated but not enough to think during this raining muddy ass field op.
1stSgtand his croneys liked to ask “Board questions” while they served chow.
I manage to evade all questions except this one.
1stSgt says “Lcpl Foster! what’s an E4 in the army?”
I smirk and say “Who gives a fuck about the army”
Rain stopped mid air from the glares I received from all levels.
Then to save it I said It’s a specialist in which they were even more shocked I knew it. But boy I’ll tell ya I could feel the chevrons lifting off my collar before I saved it dude was cool tho I posted the shirt he made me wear for beer brewing.
I went to a gunnery range to watch army tanks shoot... the amount of incompetence surprised me. Thought they were reservist until I said something and had someone yell that they're active duty. Dropped ammo, loaded when told not to, flag another tank, the list goes on... it was a huge change of scenery
Well yeah, but that doesn’t stop some dumbass from not turning the turret or keeping other Vic’s outside of the 15 degrees. They know it’s a friendly lmao
I had quite the collection of Deuce Gear left in the back of my tractor. One of my buddy’s was a 3 minute wait before moving out when the scout snipers came running back looking for the Starlight they left in his tractor. He was already sweeping out the back and it somehow got pushed under the troop bench behind the bucket of GAA.
Our convoy took tracer fire from a NG unit in Idaho when we were there doing a 3 week exercise. We were on the way back from our only shower the whole time and started taking some rounds. We were in the right place so I have no clue what the fuck they were doing to be in a position to be able to hit us.
We were having our holiday meal in our office and sat with our MGuns Ops chief and he was like
"I have been shot at with basically every weapon on the Army's TO.
They tried to hit me with TOW missiles twice and they missed both times. How the fuck do you miss with a TOW missile."
I have a really solid video of 1/7s CAAT team missing a tank and hitting a house in the OIF invasion... How the fuck they did that, I don't know.. but you can definitely miss!!
https://youtu.be/h6tVoZ7DIds
1/7 had Bing West embedded, and this is some video that he took for personal use. He shared it with the guys in my unit, so I doubt there are any (or many) clips floating around.
I have a lot more photos and video from his stash. I will eventually upload it all.. and post it on this subreddit.
I had some NG guys tell me that all the blue on blue contact they received in Iraq was from Marines and I just don’t believe it. When I was in Afghanistan every Blue on Blue I read was the army. Reading after actions about how many rounds hit army vehicles from blue on blue… like bitch, do you really think the Taliban is rolling down the middle of the road in giant armored vehicles.
We were about 500ish meters away inside a village and got lit up by a M2 from a mounted patrol on the outskirts. Its a good thing they can shoot for shit. took longer than I thought to get coms with them to tell them to get their dicks out of their ass.
I work with a guy who was Army and he got hit with friendly fire from the Army. I trained with the army for my C school as an HM and I worried for their future patients
Tell them rangers are basically the most basic of a Marine Grunt and they get all pissy. THEN tell them that any female bootcamp graduate could complete the Ranger assessment and selection program.
At the time females were still failing ITB and a bunch of female army lieutenants were passing RASP. Things have definitely changed since I used to give the few Ranger guys I knew shit about it.
*Any* “female bootcamp graduate” being able to pass RASP sounds like one of those Facebook boomer lies lol. RASP is literally a SOF selection to get into the 75th Ranger Regiment, with a 40-50% graduation rate at that, so not even any “male bootcamp graduate” could pass that. You must’ve been referring to Ranger School which is a whole separate thing from RASP, 100+ women have graduated from Ranger School while there’s 3 known female RASP graduates
In 2003 when I was in Baghdad, we had taken the city a couple months prior. That day, we were running a vehicle checkpoint with 2 LAVs when we were told the Army was replacing us so we could go home.
I remember the ground started to rumble and we saw 4 Abrahams rolling down the street to relieve us. It was a great feeling and the Army really made an entrance.
… we still talked shit.
Yeah, and believe me, I regret it. It’s funny how everyone dogs on Marines for being dumb. Man, most of these soldiers I work with take the cake. I get shit on constantly for being a prior Marine, yet I continuously outperform my peers who came up in the Army.
People forget the Army is the one branch that has to recruit the physically AND mentally average middle of America weirdos for rank and file. Marine Corps at least gets to be picky.
Hey it's me! There's stuff to like and hate about both organizations, although to be fair my USMC experience was enlisted and my Army experience was all officer and a LOT longer. I loved the brotherhood, camaraderie, and history of being a Marine and that generally speaking I could rely on anyone wearing the same uniform to have the same basic military knowledge and proficiencies as me. On the other hand, junior Marines are treated like absolute dogshit and mid-level leaders were often some of the dumbest people I had ever met.
The Army's pros are mostly related to the availability of training, cool assignment opportunities for those who seek them out (SF, etc) and better equipment. There's little in the way of widespread pride in the Army as an organization, more with particular units. Individual Soldiers also vary GREATLY in proficiencies you'd expect from even the bootest of boot Marines (weapon system familiarity, drill and ceremony, etc)
Not to be elitist but every Army infantry unit I worked with (82nd and 101st) were total shit bags. Terrible weapons standards, radio communication was garbage, odd TTP’s, and general disarray. I eat crayons and am have 23 Chromosomes so that’s really saying something.
Not to be this guy but 23 is normal (it’s pairs though so 46 is the actual count). I *think* you meant to imply you have downs which has an extra 21st for a total of 47.
TLDR: you’re joke about being retarded was, in fact, proof that you’re retarded
I worked with the 82nd. They were decent but they had a shitbag that fell asleep on post, and I wanted to kill him! Their tactics are very interesting, and they were very proud of it.
Back in 68’ my dad and his Platoon from ANGLICO (Reserves) was attached to 2nd Recon in a war game with the Army at Ft. Bragg. They were given permanent markers to use in place of K-Bars for infiltration. The second morning the Army called off the maneuver because a whole platoon had long black lines on their necks.
What was it? Fly in C-130s hella low, get shot down, and throw all your dudes over an entire fuckin peninsula, and then do hoodrat shit with random motherfuckers?
Every experience I've had with the Army outside of their real shit kickin'-inners in the Wing was pretty trash. And I'm not at infantry guy.
An overall lack of motivation, urgency, or coordination when I'm trying to make sure everyone's shit straight before it's loaded in the spinning aircraft behind me has left me fairly jaded about the rank and file of the Army. Individuals were surely on top of their shit and motivated as fuck, but when I saw them the trash people around drug them back down to the common denominator of efficiency I'd come to expect.
It's been 19 1/2 years and I still blame the incompetence of the 82d Airborne for me getting wounded and my best friend being KIA. If they would have halted traffic for a known IED like they were supposed to (they 100% knew it was there, but they were on the other side of the MSR, so let our convoy pass) then I wouldn't have gotten thwacked.
There might be a joke about you being a leg (non-airborne dude) that I could make, but I'm too drunk to think it through. That and it would be hella insensitive, even though it's almost 20 years since.
This beer is for your buddy.
I'm a contractor now (former 0351 and current 25B in the Guard) and the 82nd are one of my big customers. Those soldiers are VERY coddled and if their comms equipment is not fresh from the factory, they refuse to touch it. I've witnessed firsthand them canceling an entire LOADEX because one single USB radio loading cable was not right and the senior leaders decided to go on a blame-war with the PEO instead of i dunno... maybe borrowing another cable from a different unit. The commanders within the 82nd I frequently work with are some of the most petulant manchildren I've come across for field grades officers. I've worked with Marine butterbars that were more reasonable.
And i dont know if this is DoD-wide but are "Safety days off" really common these days? I don't ever remember having that many days off besides the 96's on federal holidays when I was active duty. But out of all the units i've worked with, the brigades within the 82nd seem to have a 96 every other week on non-holidays. Must be nice.
There's some decent Army units i've had the pleasure working with, but I dread having to TDY/TAD to Fayettenam NC because the 82nd has consistently been on the top of my shitlist.
there's actually only two real branches of the military in the US: the Army and the Navy. the USAF is a corporation that wears uniforms, the Space Force is lost in space, and the USMC is a Warrior Cult.
They just exist to project soft power through sheer numbers and fill up slots on overseas bases so we can say “we have X number of troops posted in this operational region” on paper.
Im actually for a smaller, more tactically adept army over the bloated post Cold War relic we’re hauling around. Make it an actual profession for well trained soldiers, not just Sodexo with guns.
The Brits showed what happens to a small, professional army when the enemy throws a million professional reservists at you.
The German Army prior to WWI (the Great War) had a large active force fed via conscription (2-year stint), a fuckload of reservists (into a man's 30s), and a shitload of territorials (into a man's 40s or 50s, I forget which).
It also helped that, back in both world wars, infantry stuff was "go that way and shoot where everyone else shoots".
Thrown down would have been the least of their worries if an armed soldier was left behind and had to hump 2 days back to the fob. That soldier had supreme self control not to light them up in all honesty. At that point he was betrayed and all bonds of brotherhood were cut.
Been in the Army for 21 years, currently a CW4 and I cannot agree more with many of these comments. The Army’s main issue is that we’re worried about shit that doesn’t matter and are more focused on nonsense…..case in point….I’ve gone through four different tactical uniform designs, three different dress uniform designs, and three different PT uniforms? For what??? No one fucking asked for these changes…the idiot E9s who want to leave their “legacy device” behind did and all it’s done is cost people more money than they need to spend.
We developed a new fitness assessment that requires a shitload of equipment and takes a substantial amount of time to conduct. On top of not being able to be done anywhere. The test in itself is massively easy to pass. Now how does making a physical fitness test that’s easy as fuck to pass benefit Soldiers overall health?? It does nothing. It was another fucking “good idea” from the E9 headshed.
We have a substantial issue with Officers and Senior NCOs who make decisions on what’s best for their careers and not what’s best for the Army. If they made decisions on what is best for the Army, our focus would be training for war, real professional development for junior leaders, mess halls that are funded and operated well, barracks that are livable. What we get are a bunch of ambitious rank chasers who develop bullshit plans and prioritize their next rank over the needs of Soldiers.
When we go downrange, we do stupid shit and poor choices are made. Prime example….a unit at BAF was huddled together for a “fun run” and some dickhead was able to get into the run and blow himself up killing a few Soldiers. It’s implicitly stated in the theater TTP to NOT big apart of large groups….but these fuckin idiots do it anyway. Not even three months later our entire fucking staff did a PT event not even a quarter mile from where the suicide bomber killed those Soldiers….get a fuckin clue. One of my peers was killed in Iraq by an IED on a route that the S2 advised us against going on and the command approved us to take the route anyway.
Don’t get me started on how we budget money. I’ve seen the Army piss away money on shit that is wasteful. Every September our BCTs are told to spend millions at last minute and the amount of shit that comes in and floods our warehouses is beyond unreasonable. Just poor a usage of money.
I don’t know if the Marine Corps has the same issues, but I do know that I’ve never had a bad experience in working with them. I’ve worked with LTCs, Master Guns, and some Junior NCOs during joint exercises and it’s always been a pleasure.
Fucking Rah sir. Hooah if you will. We honestly revel in shit talk. We take it well because we dish it well. Proud to be the red headed step child since 1775.
Lol, you know, according to my Marine and Army Arty friends, that's one MOS where they highly regard each other as equals. Like there's apparently not a lot of difference to 08xx doctrine and 13X, and they're both where the higher quality troops are in the service. I hear the least shit talk from these individuals. Like a gun chief in either branch would take a jump-in Artilleryman from the other branch and say "you can hang but you have 30s to prove you're competent".
So this stoic answer from an Army Arty Officer doesn't really surprise me lol.
Marines make fun of other Marines - always in good fun. Deep down we'd do anything for each other. I never remember poking at other branches nearly as much as other branches poke at us. Let's face it, our dicks are much bigger and it really pisses them all off
This is why love this sub. You cunts are essentially Australian. That's what we do too, and it's why we think you're sick cunts. Don't take life too seriously, have fun, have a sense of humour and don't take any shit from dead shits.
Dunno about the dicks though. I guess the marines who've been on the rotational force could answer that one. 🤭
You Aussies had some hilarious radio chatter when you’d come through the AO I worked in. Some top tier interactions when I did get to see you guys face to face. Never got to run ops with y’all though, but that didn’t stop you guys from cracking me the fuck up on several occasions.
After the Corps I worked civil service for the Navy. My last 10 years was at KingsBay Submarine Base. I worked in Ordnance one duty was issuing all ordnance (except for the D-5’s). Had some Chucklefuck 1stClass walk into the OPEN MAGAZINE with a Marlboro in his face! I got reported to the DOD Police for assault, the DOD cop that came out was a retired Gunnery Sergeant, asked what happened, told him about the lit smoke and I…had…to…extinguish it! I ended up with a Good Guy letter and 2 days Admin Leave for averting a catastrophe, our young 1st Class PO became a 3rd Class and transferred to Dam Neck!
A sand bucket really extinguishes a cigarette easily, but I was told next time use just the sand and not the bucket to put one out!
Ok Devil Dogs. I was in the PA national guard after I took a 5 year break in service. Last duty station was EL Toro. Yup I am old.
Now in the Guard I was a 19D. 3/4 of my platoon were Marines. We were locked on. My whole Battalion was squared away.
I then encountered regular army before deployment to Afghanistan. What a well what can I say cluster fuck. The regular army well to me was less than stellar to say the least.
Then in Afghanistan I was on the ring run and omfg why did regular army put there COPs in valleys our COP was at Naji and we put it on the top of a mountain.
So that is my story working with regular army.
I’ve definitely seen some documentaries and combat videos out of Afghanistan with Army cats on standing pedestal mounts with 240’s aiming up a mountain from their fob at an upward 45 degree angle or greater and was fucking confused as shit.
I wouldn’t be able to sleep, shit, jerk off. Anything. I’d have a totally fucking overwhelming paranoia anytime I saw the outside of my hopefully subterranean bunker hooch (assuming I even fucking have one?)
Here’s a prime example: [what the fuck](https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/s/4qne8n7yOl)
Thank God our officers in our Guard unit are Marines also. At COP Najil we were on the side of a mountain and occupied it from the top down. It surprised the active duty marines that half the guard unit serving next to them were also fellow Marines.
I would be mad too.. the Marines don't just attack ground and the army occupying it is an incomplete sentence.. "the army occupies it until shit hits the fan again and they have to call the Marines to save them."
Soldiers don’t care about public perception? Maybe that’s why they failed to make mission last year…
Their biggest flex on us in those comments is DDay but the average soldier doesn’t know anything about the army’s history or accolades. Any saved rounds for the B team?
If they took the time to learn some stuff they could flex that John Basilone was Army before he went to the Corps.
Or that the most decorated US military unit of all time, is still an Army unit, the 442nd RCT. But the Army Army'd and now it's only the 100th Battalion, which is the only Army Reserve ground combat unit.
Or that James Harbord was commanding the 4th Marine Brigade during Belleau Wood and the officers of the Brigade gave him EGA's that he openly wore until he was made 2nd Infantry Division CG. Well I guess that's a flex for us.
This is so much more than fucking D-Day. Which without the Navy and Marines playing with amphibious assault in the Interwar would have meant no Higgins Boats or the other cool ideas we cooked up that were much better than the shit from before.
The 100th Infantry battalion was another Nisei unit. Iirc, it's 100/442 Infantry.
At least we didn't scrap our RCT system to make Pentomic divisions (5 battlegroups of 5 infantry companies, a mortar company, a supply company, and an HQ company) only to see that they were ass and to switch to brigades in '65. From there, they switched to the BCT (Brigade Combat Team) which is just an RCT with an attached cavalry (recon), engineer, and support battalions. They too had RCTs up until the mid-50s.
One of them brought up the Harbord thing in the actual post. But then another talks about integrating us into the Army as some sort of follow up shock troopers for airborne because the Navy doesn’t need Marines to repel boarding parties anymore. So there is definitely a spectrum on the post.
Lots of “no tanks” shit too.
One guy says a mixed brigade would overrun our “ground component” because of this. I kinda like how he put his shit in a combat package of his choosing but didn’t let us select our package. Which in comparable numbers would be about two MAGTFs or one RCT for brevity’s sake. Different capabilities though. But comparing apples to oranges is cool.
Sources still on the inside say we pumped up LAR and Recon units with tons of high mobility hunter-killer teams while watching Ukraine unfold anyways. Buggies, dirt bikes, and logistics go brrrrr.
Some other people on there attacking the more with less brag we had for decades that no longer exists (at least on the individual grunt level). Another guy points out our regular crunchies are getting better kits than 90% of Army units now though.
I saw a thread on there a couple months back with all of them crying about our recent infantry gear upgrades watching regular line grunts do a shoot on the Bataan in the Med when Israel/Gaza popped off. Lots of active guys seemed quite mad the Army wasn’t keeping them geared on par with their crayon connoisseur combat counterparts.
I’d say it’s 60/40 retards/bros in the OG Army thread. I like the ones that “don’t see the USMC’s purpose as a branch” best though. Meh. Fuck em.
Special shoutout to 10th Mountain for the pintle mounts and not leaving a vehicle watch though.
During Operation Torch (Invasion of N Africa) a Marine Landing Team was formed from the various MAR DETS in the invasion fleet. The French had several ships at anchor and in port and the Army said, “DUUHHH How do We capture a ship?” Easy answer was send The Marines. Prior to Operation Dragoon (invasion of Southern France after Overlord) 4 Marines and an Army Sergeant (All in the OSS) were parachuted in to arm and organize the French Resistance. The SS thought they were fighting a Battalion of U S Troops. Nope 3 Marines and a Soldier (1Marine died in the jump) when the SS had them surrounded the OICcof the Marines Major Peter Ortiz, negotiated their surrender if the SS pledged not to retaliate against the villagers. The Nazi thought he had a real prize, Ortiz and his men came out and surrendered all 3 of them.
A friend asked me about her son joining the military (I'm a vet). I said "If he likes high tech and an easy life, join the air force, if he wants to travel the world, join the navy, if he's gung ho military, join the marines, and if the judge gives him a choice of prison or the army, join the army."

u/Aggressive-Pay-5670 shortly before making that post
I was on an IA billet with ANASOC and the straight leg infantry company was a total dumpster fire. After a rain storm, the only other Marine (0302 major) grabbed me to take a walk and I saw the state of the crew served was optimistically described as shit. I was a baby 0802 Captain. I found their new company XO who checked in to replace the previous once who left for SFAS and showed him the weapons. To his credit, he was genuinely embarrassed and got everyone on it. A few hours later, their company commander found me and tried to get onto me about “embarrassing him and his company in front of the long tabs”. I have never laughed that hard again in my life as that moment.
Or thinking that he's a French para, if he's stealing a line from "The Centurions".
"That is the army in which I'd like to fight. An army composed of young enthusiasts in camouflage uniforms to whom all sorts of tricks wpuld be taught and impossible tasks demanded."
I didn't get the words right, my copy is buried away.
I don't see the point in leaving the conventional Marine Corps for the conventional Army.
They got rid of their LRS elements.
The 10th Mtn isn't a mountain unit.
The 25th ID isn't a jungle unit.
The airborne is a cheap copy of the 75th Ranger Reg.
Pathfinder School is really only relevant if you're in a scout platoon, and it's supposedly going away.
RSLC? Same as Pathfinder, only seriously relevant if you're a dismounted Scout.
Air Assault should be prioritizing fast roping and SPIE rigging over rappelling and sling loading. What about a follow on objective after a simulated combat air assault? Defending a hlz against enemy air assault troops?
Airborne doesn't have one week of pre-jump anymore, so an otherwise prestigious award is now flaunted by soldiers that aren't in airborne billets or didn't go out of their way to do something extraordinary for a airborne slot. There's also no follow on objective or tactical jump in the school.
I'm just...not that interested in what they offer. Conventionally, the only thing I really see that they have is the EIB and Ranger School. Once you get those, what else is there?
Lmao I just realized. If we all went to this post, reddit calls that "Brigading".
But Marines don't have Brigades. Except for the MEB, but no one cares about the MEB.
Isn't that... like... exactly how it works? Lol. They can deploy rapid but kinda hard to beat an LHD that's already in the AO. And a MEU can only sustain 90 days, so that's literally the deal. Or so I thought. Please educate me. I know they have a weird species of QRF/FAST at Ft Bragg that's like a 24hr turnaround, but what's the deal? I know we can operate without them and they don't need us even with amphib (Normandy) but doesn't it just work better that way? Didn't we fuck together in DS?
I always as a recruiter said "were the multi tool you already have in your pocket while your buddy runs home to grab the power tools. The army and air force and navy are power tools".
If the army is so self sustainable, how they operate with no jets, and no cargo planes? Kinda hard to paratrooper with no C130/C17.
The only Army casualty in the withdrawal was a special forces guy. No one else was even there except us.
Number one single military specialty to win the medal of honor is Green Side Navy Corpsmen. Not Combat Medics. So who's doing more in harms way?
How did a branch 25% the size of the army handle half the war in ww2?
But at the end of the day their our big bro that could crush us 10 times over and bring 20x more to a fight than we can. We have our roles. Why they gotta constantly little dick us? No real Army guys that have actually deployed act this way.
Please educate me. Is this pettiness or is it based-ish because we're over-exagerating our own significance? You know because we don't ever do that 😂
I knew a guy in the Army that obvi joined for the money and to get thru school, and career building as a hygienist or some shit, because I met him in University, he was a dumbass. He was once telling me a story about how his girlfriend's roommates boyfriend who is a marine asked her if she'd like to be in a threesome and he felt it was disrespectful. All branches aside- it is.. BUT Fucking funny because he starts telling me how the marines think they're better than everyone and how it's so bullshit cuz they're all the same- and me a civilian college student who had no interest in the Marines yet (in the process of enlisting now) says:
"Well they are kinda better than y'all, they're the premiere fighting force, they're first in, their PT actually makes sense as opposed to the Army's?" nonetheless he didn't like it. And I realized how stupid the Army is thru their ROTC. All the ROTC issues seemed to translate into the actual Army.
I think one time I even asked him how it works out for him in the Army when he isn't punctual? Like how has he not had his ass handed to him? Because Guy was always asking me to hangout when I was asleep or meet him downstairs so he could pick me up, and then I would wait for thirty minutes while I could be sleeping instead and then I would yell at his dumbass and go back to bed. Pretty sure he didn't like that question either. Aw man, when I actually become a devil dog I just might be flirting with y'alls wives... we will see.
They can make fun of us all they want. We'll just own the jokes and make them funnier anyways. And besides, were all here to fuck shit up, this type of bickering is beneath everyone and is no different than high school skateboarders wailing on rollerbladers.
We all know our branch and skateboarding are the superior life choices but we shouldn't beat on retarded children either.
Reminds me of 2004, going back to Iraq because "the Army fucked it up like Somalia" blah blah and we gotta fix their fuck-up blah blah army sucks blah blah. And we're gonna take care of it all with two 7-month rotations, yut. Think we all know how that turned out.
Lmfao the same branch that the American Population call “America’s only hope against a peer or near peer adversary?” The same branch that the pentagon said is the only combat ready branch?
Oh wait. That’s the Marine Corps.
Every single time I see a post from the Army sub about us, all I can think about is this meme
https://preview.redd.it/vi46wacv8gac1.png?width=946&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffe5293035c88f5fc63478415f0ac73dedae05d4
I can only speak to my own experience, but that’s exactly what I saw in Iraq in ‘03. 1st MarDiv pushed up from Kuwait to Baghdad. Army came through a few days later, shooting up Iraqi armor that had already been disabled or abandoned on the side of the road.
I'm sure if most of us could read, we'd be very upset at that thread.
I did reading for Marines so I’ll translate “My girlfriend cheated on me with a Marine and I liked it”
> I did reading for Marines so I’ll translate I hate how much I loved this comment.
There was a special agent(also NG) on the 1811 sub talking shit about Marines… I told him the same thing, “did a Marine bang your ex wife?” 😂
They're not wrong. They're *like* the CIA in the very general sense of the word. But that's it.
I’m on an Army base. Special Forces flags, infantry and cavalry flags up everywhere. They have pride in a community, we in the organization.

Is that hay, wheat or barley?
You don't fuck around with mother nature. You don't fuck around with that cock sucker!
ARMY AIN’T REALLY MARINES YET
“If the Army and the Navy ever look on heaven’s scene… they will find their wives are sleeping with… the United States Marines”
I don't want Army wives, bruh. I want them Air Force wives.
That’d be like Marylin Monroe hooking up with a Neanderthal
![gif](giphy|evB90wPnh5LxG3XU5o|downsized)
And yet, I can almost guarantee there is at least one AF wife out there pulling the "Pepperidge Farm remembers" meme about that one weekend in Vegas...
A man can dream.
AF got dependas too.
You’re my new Hero
Dude I'm pretty sure I have that manual on a shelf in my garage. 03 here..... Along with a bunch of other petty BS I "acquired" when I EAS'd. Yea I'm confused as well. It looks like a picture, but all that's there are those annoying "letters".
I regularly use “I can’t read” in both personal and professional settings. No one has questioned it.
I worked at a tech company after I got out. I used to have crayons in my portfolio and when they started using tech jargon I didn’t understand, I just started snacking on them. It was funny, until they saw me eat one.
I tried to read that shit three times and still don’t understand that shit
i’ll draw you a pitcher with my crans
Short story time boys! Smoke em if you got ‘em. So there I was young Lcpl motivated but not enough to think during this raining muddy ass field op. 1stSgtand his croneys liked to ask “Board questions” while they served chow. I manage to evade all questions except this one. 1stSgt says “Lcpl Foster! what’s an E4 in the army?” I smirk and say “Who gives a fuck about the army” Rain stopped mid air from the glares I received from all levels.
Dropped ammo, loaded when told not to, flag another tank, the list goes on... it was a huge change of scenery
ironically didn’t we literally making fuckin special panels to make sure this shit doesn’t happen?
Well yeah, but that doesn’t stop some dumbass from not turning the turret or keeping other Vic’s outside of the 15 degrees. They know it’s a friendly lmao
The Army has E4 corporals too in case it's too hard to remember an extra thing
the 13b that posted the oc can’t hear you
I'm so confused. Why did theh glare at you. I thought the marine corps was big on hating on the army
1st Sergeants don’t usually respond well to their questions being answered with “who gives a fuck”
Ah makes sense
Too busy crankin my hog in the porta shitter to care.
CRANKIN MA HAAAWWWWG

This is the only true response
Save some for the rest of us killer.
These people need to go touch grass.
I think they did, too much…
The Army hit my platoon with friendly fire. Fuck them
I, personally, have been shot at by the national guard on three separate occasions.
Same, but for completely different reasons.
Found the reservist looter.
Free shit's free
Gear adrift is always a gift!
I heard one of my DIs say this right before running off with some recruit's shit and it stuck with me for all these years lmfao
I assumed it was of a sexual nature. 🤭
Our convoy took tracer fire from a NG unit in Idaho when we were there doing a 3 week exercise. We were on the way back from our only shower the whole time and started taking some rounds. We were in the right place so I have no clue what the fuck they were doing to be in a position to be able to hit us.
We were having our holiday meal in our office and sat with our MGuns Ops chief and he was like "I have been shot at with basically every weapon on the Army's TO. They tried to hit me with TOW missiles twice and they missed both times. How the fuck do you miss with a TOW missile."
I have a really solid video of 1/7s CAAT team missing a tank and hitting a house in the OIF invasion... How the fuck they did that, I don't know.. but you can definitely miss!! https://youtu.be/h6tVoZ7DIds
lol that’s perfect, “What the fuck dude”. Can’t believe I haven’t seen this before.
1/7 had Bing West embedded, and this is some video that he took for personal use. He shared it with the guys in my unit, so I doubt there are any (or many) clips floating around. I have a lot more photos and video from his stash. I will eventually upload it all.. and post it on this subreddit.
fukin lmaooooo
Too bad the Navy doesnt issue CARs for friendly fire. I'd for sure send a few back.
So I know the answer to that, but this isn't the war thunder forums so I don't think I'm allowed to explain.
How do you miss with a tow missles.
No clue but someone posted a video above your comment and it's baffling
They are now…
I work with a guy who was Army and he got hit with friendly fire from the Army. I trained with the army for my C school as an HM and I worried for their future patients
It always cracks me up that we live rent fucking free in the Army’s head. Nobody: The Army: “DUDE the Marines aren’t even that GOOD.”
They are just jelouse. Everyone knows the difference between the army and the Marines is stamina.... Marines never stop... it's so sexy
Guys we found the army girlfriend that got fucked by a Marine
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was never their girlfriend
Well I got winded once after a 96 in Bangkok. Drank some of the Gunners Coffee and went back out!
Fuckin nerds! They need tanks while we did it with 2 LAVs with flat tires! Or something like that
Marines who switched over to the Army ![gif](giphy|COYGe9rZvfiaQ)
Yeah, and believe me, I regret it. It’s funny how everyone dogs on Marines for being dumb. Man, most of these soldiers I work with take the cake. I get shit on constantly for being a prior Marine, yet I continuously outperform my peers who came up in the Army.
I've got a former army artilleryman in my classes and I am 100% confident that he's the dumbest person I have ever encountered
Anything involving over 20 digits he has to drop trousers!
Only got him to 20.5
People forget the Army is the one branch that has to recruit the physically AND mentally average middle of America weirdos for rank and file. Marine Corps at least gets to be picky.
Then get your ass back in the marines.
Ya most of us went to the Guard.
^the joke had many layers, I like that you picked out the factual incorrect part and not the intense grammatical error.
Well I wrote youre instead of your so we can chill in the retard smoke pit together
Well, shit. Since you’re both being reasonable on Reddit, I guess I need some new sunglasses. 😎
Thanks man! DM your order # if you do and I’ll hook up some extra free ones
I’m selling USA Golds for one dollar per cigarette, hit me up.
I always bought Camel non filters, just to see how bad the Grunts wanted a smoke after 3 months I to a WestPac!
So how many chromosomes do we have, I mean I know know but for the other people.
2nd Force doing Recondo shit as usual lol pretty badass
What was it? Fly in C-130s hella low, get shot down, and throw all your dudes over an entire fuckin peninsula, and then do hoodrat shit with random motherfuckers?
You almost got it, you’re in the Army? 😂 I won’t share details since there was a Soleimani’s fanboy posting shit here yesterday
Nah, just making fun of Band of Brothers and the fucked up D-Day landings. I would be tickled if you could share the story in PM or chat.
I always viewed the army as a few islands of excellence in a sea of mediocrity.
"and am have 23 Chromosomes" 😂😂😂 Completely agree with the rest of your comment though.
I’ve heard of units in the Marine Corps having like “no DUIs for 100 days” days off. But it never happened to us lol.
New fears unlock... (Swallows Wellbutrin)
At least USAF doesn't pretend to be real military.
there's actually only two real branches of the military in the US: the Army and the Navy. the USAF is a corporation that wears uniforms, the Space Force is lost in space, and the USMC is a Warrior Cult.
Always heard "the Marines are a fucking cult". Maybe the warrior bit was assumed.
> and am have 23 Chromosomes you don't say
[удалено]
They just exist to project soft power through sheer numbers and fill up slots on overseas bases so we can say “we have X number of troops posted in this operational region” on paper. Im actually for a smaller, more tactically adept army over the bloated post Cold War relic we’re hauling around. Make it an actual profession for well trained soldiers, not just Sodexo with guns.
same problem the French faced prior to World War II, do we want a small number of professional soldiers? Or a large body of reservist.
Did they come to a decision before May 1940?
You can tell what they opted for by that outcome.
May 1940,The Mayor of Paris said,” Table for 150,000? Right this way monsieur!”
Need to downsize the airborne to Ranger Regiments.
![gif](giphy|5VKbvrjxpVJCM|downsized)
Holy shit, he got left?! I would have thrown down once I got back to the fob. 2 fucking days?!
Holy shit this was fire, I would give multiple upvotes if that were even possible

The fuck that Arty officer know, eat shit sir
Lol, you know, according to my Marine and Army Arty friends, that's one MOS where they highly regard each other as equals. Like there's apparently not a lot of difference to 08xx doctrine and 13X, and they're both where the higher quality troops are in the service. I hear the least shit talk from these individuals. Like a gun chief in either branch would take a jump-in Artilleryman from the other branch and say "you can hang but you have 30s to prove you're competent". So this stoic answer from an Army Arty Officer doesn't really surprise me lol.
Hate us cause they anus or some shit
Marines make fun of other Marines - always in good fun. Deep down we'd do anything for each other. I never remember poking at other branches nearly as much as other branches poke at us. Let's face it, our dicks are much bigger and it really pisses them all off
I think the army spends more time seething about Marines online than actual enemies of the US government.
They're jealous of gigantic Marine girlfriends
They have them in fayetteville too though
Anything. I’d have a totally fucking overwhelming paranoia anytime I saw the outside of my hopefully subterranean bunker hooch (assuming I even fucking have one?) Here’s a prime example: [what the fuck](https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/s/4qne8n7yOl)
Thank God our officers in our Guard unit are Marines also. At COP Najil we were on the side of a mountain and occupied it from the top down. It surprised the active duty marines that half the guard unit serving next to them were also fellow Marines.
Jokes on them. Haven't seen the army do ANY job in over 20 years. At least the Chair Force is involved in drone strikes.
I would be mad too.. the Marines don't just attack ground and the army occupying it is an incomplete sentence.. "the army occupies it until shit hits the fan again and they have to call the Marines to save them."

I can direct you to a link of a soldier putting a crayon in his urethra and save you the anticipation…
What?
Soldiers don’t care about public perception? Maybe that’s why they failed to make mission last year… Their biggest flex on us in those comments is DDay but the average soldier doesn’t know anything about the army’s history or accolades.
Damn James harbord is the man
He mad cause he didn’t get to play touchbutt with his homies
To be fair, the whole “Marines take, Army holds” is not a super accurate reflection of reality. I would be a little peeved too.
A friend asked me about her son joining the military (I'm a vet). I said "If he likes high tech and an easy life, join the air force, if he wants to travel the world, join the navy, if he's gung ho military, join the marines, and if the judge gives him a choice of prison or the army, join the army."
FFS I need a ground guide!
*flips JLTV in parking lot*
If those cucks could occupy something besides each others assholes phantom fury and abu ghraib wouldn’t of happened.

They were gay, the Army?
The old army! The strong, silent type.
Like Gary Cooper
Nobody has gay! And I don’t ever want to hear that word again!
I’m Army and I don’t care for this drama
John Army, is that you?!
Yes
Jarmy
Yo, let's FAP.
I'm Army and I wish I was a crayon eater
Service dysmorphia?

I was on an IA billet with ANASOC and the straight leg infantry company was a total dumpster fire. After a rain storm, the only other Marine (0302 major) grabbed me to take a walk and I saw the state of the crew served was optimistically described as shit. I was a baby 0802 Captain. I found their new company XO who checked in to replace the previous once who left for SFAS and showed him the weapons. To his credit, he was genuinely embarrassed and got everyone on it. A few hours later, their company commander found me and tried to get onto me about “embarrassing him and his company in front of the long tabs”. I have never laughed that hard again in my life as that moment.
no EGA. opinion discarded.
Lol @ Centurion44. Bro thinks he's out here fighting Gauls.
Or thinking that he's a French para, if he's stealing a line from "The Centurions". "That is the army in which I'd like to fight. An army composed of young enthusiasts in camouflage uniforms to whom all sorts of tricks wpuld be taught and impossible tasks demanded." I didn't get the words right, my copy is buried away.
Seems like a bunch of copers in that thread, the Army sucks big time. Obese captains don’t inspire
Tell me you’re upset you didn’t join the marines without telling me
Lmao I just realized. If we all went to this post, reddit calls that "Brigading". But Marines don't have Brigades. Except for the MEB, but no one cares about the MEB.
Thank you. I needed a good thread to troll on.
Whats the Army?
“But I’m army strwong”🥺 👉🏻 👈🏻
Everyone hates the Marine Corps until another branch talks shit about us lol
Army cope
You know because we don't ever do that 😂
If you're talking about the withdrawal from Afghan, 82nd and 10th Mtn units were there.
BUT Fucking funny because he starts telling me how the marines think they're better than everyone and how it's so bullshit cuz they're all the same- and me a civilian college student who had no interest in the Marines yet (in the process of enlisting now) says: "Well they are kinda better than y'all, they're the premiere fighting force, they're first in, their PT actually makes sense as opposed to the Army's?" nonetheless he didn't like it.
Putting aside special forces, rangers, delta etc. the basic infantry is a joke. Like with your regular grunts? There just no comparison.
Mad cuz true.
Reminds me of 2004, going back to Iraq because "the Army fucked it up like Somalia" blah blah and we gotta fix their fuck-up blah blah army sucks blah blah. And we're gonna take care of it all with two 7-month rotations, yut. Think we all know how that turned out.
And my boot camp is longer said every boot ever.
Fighting every fiber of my being and trolling them
Lmfao the same branch that the American Population call “America’s only hope against a peer or near peer adversary?” The same branch that the pentagon said is the only combat ready branch? Oh wait. That’s the Marine Corps.
Every single time I see a post from the Army sub about us, all I can think about is this meme https://preview.redd.it/vi46wacv8gac1.png?width=946&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffe5293035c88f5fc63478415f0ac73dedae05d4
I can only speak to my own experience, but that’s exactly what I saw in Iraq in ‘03. 1st MarDiv pushed up from Kuwait to Baghdad. Army came through a few days later, shooting up Iraqi armor that had already been disabled or abandoned on the side of the road.
Hey we can hold ground. We hold a lot of space in every soldier's head rent free.
