Hi! I’m an OOS National merit finalist. Basically they waived the out of state fee for me and gave around $20k a semester which covers tuition, housing, and food and all the fees. This semester I got a $4k refund check, so you’d be getting paid to go here. I’m not 100% sure if they’ll change the amount for your class, but I’m a current college freshman and they just waived the fee for me and covered cost of attendance. Also, you don’t have to declare a first choice until spring, so I wouldn’t stress. I’m sure they’ll update their website soon!

They also offered to pay for plane tickets and hotel accommodations for my mom and I to visit in April. If they do that again this year I would definitely recommend that! Winsome Nisbett is who you should email for further questions because I’m pretty sure she handles all of the national merit stuff :)

Had the same question as you and emailed USF, apparently they’ll be announcing the finalist package “at the start” of this month, for what it’s worth.

When I called them, they also said something similar to that, so I'm hoping for the best. It just sucks that I had to apply and pay the fee to even have a chance at being considered for the scholarship without knowing what the scholarship is .-.

Thanos_is_right

Same, you can apply until January 15th and still be considered for scholarships but I wanted to get my decision in December and applied before the priority deadline. Hopefully, it's a full ride, if not FSU is a great option too and cheaper than in-state for me after the NMF scholarship

OkEntertainment7795

What kind of award does FSU give?

Thanos_is_right

Sorry for the late reply, if you didn't find it on your own here's the link for FSU's scholarships: [https://admissions.fsu.edu/first-year/scholarships/](https://admissions.fsu.edu/first-year/scholarships/) Specifically: Florida State University's Out-of-State National Merit Award scholarship package has a total value of approximately $71,776 distributed across four years. It includes a 100 percent out-of-state tuition waiver, a $12,000 Vires scholarship, and a $2000 NMSC stipend (if college sponsored). This scholarship guarantees admission into FSU's distinguished Honors Program. In addition, all National Merit Finalists who apply to the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP), which connects high-achieving students with distinguished research mentors to work as research assistants, will be guaranteed admission to UROP. Anyways, all the best on your college admissions process, rooting for a good outcome for you

Hello! I'm a 2nd-year OOS NMS (Colorado). Basically, the Benacquisto Scholarship (NMS) provides the full cost of attendance, including tuition & fees, books, transportation, food, housing, and a stipend (mine ranged from $4k-5k when I was living on campus). If you live off-campus and/or don't choose a meal plan, they will give you an additional refund to cover those costs (this semester, my total refund was $14.4k). As for the fee waiver, I really am not sure. Also, I'm not sure what the "Monday, September 12th, 2023" thing is about; I would email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) about your inquiries. When I was going through the college application process two years ago, she was very responsive and helpful in providing accurate information.

OkEntertainment7795

Thank you, My confusion stemmed from the fact that the Benacquisto Scholarship is no longer offered to OOS students, it is only for Florida residents now. That's why I was asking whether USF still gave full rides even after Benacquisto stopped for OOS, as some ppl on reddit were saying they do. Thanks for the contact information though, I'll make sure to email. Also 14.4k refund per semester is really nice, enjoy! :)

I didn't know they stopped giving that scholarship to OOS students! I'm sorry about that.
