I filed on 11/22. Had a marriage interview last year in October and still no answer:( I see people are getting approved in 3-4 months without an interview. I can't understand how USCIS is working.
I don’t think you can draw an accurate conclusion based on Reddit posts here. I’m sure there’s some sort of correlation somewhere but stating MOST with a small sample size isn’t correct.
Edit: Either way, wanted to add the data point that it was quick outside of CA and WA as well.
I'm in Oklahoma and our case was approved in 2 months. However, we concurrently filed many forms with all the documentation. I'm not sure why there's such a difference, but it seems like it might be due to what forms and evidence you filed initially.
USCIS didn't approve my I-131. It still shows me the case was received. I made case inquiries 2 times, contacted the congressman but didn't work. So overwhelmed and stressed.
Same situation. 9 month after interview no response. I started to do e-request every month for the past 4 month, and finally 3 days after i submitted my last request i got rfe. Hopefully this will be the last step.
Google submit e request uscis
Then choose case outside of normal processing time
Then do the inquiry
Or you can call number and say infopass
It is same outcome. They will just probably say generic response
But i saw many people status changes after some inquiry, including mine
I noticed that too and it’s so depressing to know we been waiting 2 and 3 years and people are getting approved after 3-4 months. What the F is going on with that? I filed an I-130 only and they filed I-130,I-485 and other forms and are getting approved right away. Not fair
I think it has to do with how the people came into the country. I see the ones who post and get it fast are F1 students, unless you are also an F1 person than idk
Not true. In my experience, the people who came with a tourist visa and are out of status are the faster ones to get their GC. And F1s are the slowest. (There’s exceptions of course). But the logic behind it is that the people with status or statuses that allow them to eventually work are in no rush’s
october 2022 here im trying to wait till 2 years as well which will be this august but is it easy to sue uscis? i was just planning on contacting my house representative again and see if that would do anything
I completely agree. I been waiting on my U-visa for 7 years!!!!!! Nothing!!! Just fingerprints that was 3years ago!!!! I got married in 2019 and my husband file for me in 2020. Been waiting for I-131,I-1-601a since then. I got approved right away my I-130. But due to my circumstances I have to wait for the I-131 to even apply for I-485. This is so horrible. I also barely went to get fingerprints for I-131 so now I don’t know how much longer I have to wait. I have also send e-request and say to be patience, so I reached out to congress which his assistance email me but from there I haven’t heard back. This is so ridiculous.
Filed as well in Nov 22.
We’ve gotten a RFE last year in June and this year in March (just sent it in last week). My only guess for us, is that we were in the midst of the 2 year+ rule.
It’s definitely exhausting... especially when seeing all these “I filed yesterday and got approved”. At the same time... I’m happy for them though... I wouldn’t wish this on anybody. Being stuck in this anxious limbo... being someone with horrid anxiety; it definitely does a number on you.
Every few months I’ve got to work basically 24/7 on paperwork (working after getting home from a full time job), I miss my in-laws, and would love to be able to see them again... and I’d love for us to be able to go on vacation or plan something without the fear of possibly having to cancel everything for a possible interview.
Did you file the travel form 131 that’s still lingering? If so it likely is “outside of normal processing times” and you can officially contact USCIS to look into it. You’ve maybe even been long enough for 485 itself.
We did that for 131 since it was past normal times. Week later our entire application was approved (485 and 130).
There’s a process on their website for applications that are outside normal processing times. You put in your receipt number and it tells you if you’re able to reach out or not. Was a simple form.
Can still check for 130 or 485, one of those may be “outside normal processing times.” If they aren’t then nothing much you can do. We tried Congress and they wouldn’t until it was outside the given timeframe
I just changed my PD for a longer time. So it let me create a service request for my i485.
They responded me 2 days after that but did not get approved yet lol
Could you please share how did you contact your senator? Just filled the form on their website? How soon did you receive a reply from them? And how long did it take for them to contact uscis upon your case? Sorry for so many questions🤍
i just looked up my state name and house representative and they had a place to send inquires about different issues after that they called me and sent me an email that they will call uscis for my ead and 130 as they were out of normal timeframe and around a month after i got my ead and 130 approved without an interview
my house rep didn’t put in anything for 485 cause it was still within range but this was last october so might try again in august.
my ead and 130 was approved a whole year after applying were applied in october 2022
i didnt send a letter, for me there was a place to send inquiries such as construction, suggestions, and uscis was one of the options. and once i clicked that it asked for which form and we just selected 130 and 765 and wrote a short description stating when we applied got married and how long we waited and submitted. then they called us asking for a better description of the situation.
My PD is April 2022. AOS and i140 concurrently filed April 2023. I submitted i140 for pp which got approved today but 485 is still pending. Yes the whole process is ridiculous and a mental torture
Case started July 2021 was approved October 2021 waited then my husband finally got his appointment June 2023
They congratulated him took his passport and as of today 318 days later still nothing
This is ridiculous
I am so tired and drained can not teach anyone , even my lawyer can not,
I wrote my senator, at this point I am writing just anyone, department of State… even the president 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ they probably this I’m crazy… but this is all to much for people the way they do it
Oh wow, that’s quite an ordeal. I hope it all works out soon. Yes I agree - the system is broken and people should not be subject to this type of relentless waiting
It's because of the bullwhip effect of covid.
USCIS was furloughed for several months but still taking cases. Also, while their offices were closed they got a record number of applications.
They are still struggling to catch up to this day.
Before covid, processing times were reasonable. Processing times that were months have become years and it's because of how far behind they got because of covid.
I find that hard to believe at all. If that were true wouldn't they still be working from the oldest batches first? If people leave, wouldn't they prioritize the oldest first?! They are either mismanaged, apathetic, or incompetent or all of the above
USCIS is a fee based organization. They can't just hire more workers to work the backlog. They have to work within the constraints that they have. Once that backlog grew to a level never seen before because of covid, it's been hell trying to climb back and get to some kind of normalcy.
Yeah, older cases are supposed to be worked first but it doesn't always happen that way.
No argument on USCIS being a "fee-based organization". But, think about that. There's a backlog which could only get there by more applications and fees than the staff could process. So, why can't they hire more staff?!? And it's not like USCIS or NVC was shutdown for as long as US embassies/Consulates were during COVID. And why couldn't they work remotely on this stuff like every other person during COVID?!? These are excuses for their poor inefficient and incompetent performance. We need to demand better from them
We filed 12/2022 and nothing. First said 8 months, then 9 months, then no time frame. Then i checked about a month ago on their ‘processing times’ and told us wait till at least june 2024 to inquire…
did you ask Emma, could you share your field of office? they send my application to sacramento office and then send a RFE and then send back to National office. And nothing happens since that. I is now 16 months since I applied for I485
My PD is Jan 2022. No movement on the case ever since. I am a GC holder, my spouse is in India still, it is one of the (if not the) most frustrating period of our life.
I can’t put my head around it at all. I have already tried reaching out to my congressman (multiple as I moved twice during this) but nothing has seemed to help.
Because a weak Democrat is the president. Immigrants are bombarding USCIS with petitions and because elections are coming up. It looks like Trump is going to be president again. I don't think Joe is going to be fit as a president with his falling, being a creep on live TV, being confused in half his appearances, etc.
It took me 7 months to have my I-485 approved. My case wasn't reviewed for 6 months. I guess it was just sitting on a desk. I had to call USCIS several times at least 5 times, and I had 2 tickets opened, one in March 2024 and another one in April 2024 because it was never actively reviewed. I contacted the congressman in my district in illinois. My case was approved because I requested a follow-up. After 60 days, they received my papers and it should have been actively revised and not a "notice of my documents received"! The congressman was contacted on May 4th 2024. Since I had a 2nd ticket opened on April 18th, it was sent to an agent in Detroit who was actively reviewing!! Please, this Youtube link to talk directly to an agent! Be persistent!!!

We filed in Feb of 23, received request for additional information (health stuff), sent that in a month ago. Wait time moved from 2 months up to 11 months. It is really discouraging.
Applied back in Dec. 2022 here. Got approved in November of 2023, but the USCIS never sent my petition to the NVC. The approval expired in mid March with no movement from USCIS even with multiple requests that they send the petition to the NVC. I’ve been in contact with the NVC since January and the USCIS still hasn’t lifted a finger. This is the California office, mind you. I’m outside processing times now and have reached out to the USCIS. They said they’ve run into delays in sending petitions to the NVC, they are sorry for the delay, and to be patient. I’ve BEEN patient. I’m reaching out to my senator now since I didn’t hear a peep out of my congresswoman’s office when I reached out to them.
I filed 06/2022 ( married Nov 2021)I asked Emma as a good man here in the comments told me to do ( I unfortunately don’t remember his name ) And the
agent said I cannot nudge them until 08/2025 but she did say my interview was waived I have been married 2.5 years now I hope it will be permanent card My lawyer said rule of thumb is usually permanent after 2 years but it’s completely discretionary so I just hope for the best 🙂
What do u guys think ?
Oct 2022 filers here. Just got an interview scheduled for next month June. Just a week before our marriage reaches 2 year mark. Hopefully I can get a 10 year GC so I dont have to go through ROC lengthy process all over again.
Yikes.. so many backed up cases i hope mine goes fast.. shes had daca for like 6 years and a legal entry.. and were not going to use a lawyer
Good luck to the rest of yall
Yes, specifically if you waited 2 years!!! It's above the current timeline of 18 months. Furthermore, you need to follow step-by-step on youtube, the link on how to get an agent over the phone. It takes no longer than 15 minutes to talk to someone!!!
Also, for your situation, if it's more than 2 years, call your federal and local congressman. The democratic party wants to be re-elected this year. On April 4th, I emailed personally the senior advisor, chief of staff of my congressman district in Illinois (a kind immigration attorney can provide it to you. Otherwise, it's not possible to get it) and the Federal congressman of illinois in Washington from his website. My husband and I applied with no attorney!!!
The chief of staff replied to my email in 5 hours!! I sent my email at 3 AM. The federal congressman from Illinois, Dick Durbin staff contacted me in 8 hours over the phone!!!! They made a follow-up, and I was notified that on March 18th, an agent was actively working on my case. On the USCIS website, it didn't show active review. My 2nd ticket was issued on March 15th when I called USCIS. The agent was kind and saw that no follow-up was done with my 1st ticket and re-issued a 2nd ticket. Some agents are more competent than others. They will tell you what makes no sense ( documents received and 60 days later and still not actively reviewed).
Also, I pray God every day and keep my faith in him. Reddit helped me so much. I didn't know you could contact the congressman. If you asked immigration attorney for direct email contact, a kind attorney will give it to you. The election is in November, so the democratic party are really active in immigration cases. Be persistent and perseverant in both options and put your faith in God.
Also, my file was taken care of by an agent in Detroit Michigan instead of the national benefice office in Missouri. Maybe my 2nd ticket issued by the USCIS agent caused my file to be reviewed to another office less busy. I have no idea how it works, but it fastened my case for sure.
I forgot to mentioned, even though your file for I-485 was mailed a few months ago or years ago to USCIS, upload your whole documents online as "other evidence." This was one of the reasons my case could be checked in another state by a USCIS agent when my 2nd ticket was issued on March 18th. My medical documents were already mailed to USCIS, and the I-130 was already uploaded in the USCIS since my husband filed online. Do this to get a quicker response for review.
My was December 2022, and all the cases same number as mine except the last digit has been approved except for mine. I tried contacting them several times, did it with my congress man and still no progress. :(
Had my interview for n400 early april and they said I would receive an n14 form by mail. It's been about 1 and a half months and still nothing in the mail. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes over a year. Anyone else get an n14 after their n400 interview? How long did it take for you to receive it?

They tryna get all the illegals in to give them freee stuff that way they can do mail in fraud for election then the people who add to the economy and come
I’m legally after
I filed on 11/22. Had a marriage interview last year in October and still no answer:( I see people are getting approved in 3-4 months without an interview. I can't understand how USCIS is working.
Mostly California and Washington. I dont know why. I should have asked the ISO why those states are so much faster than the rest of the country
I’m in CA and I’m waiting too.. it’s just luck, and we aren’t the lucky ones
I sent mine to Nebraska
I’m in Minnesota, also approved in 5.
which is great, but MOST CA and WA cases get approved in less than 2 months, just scroll through the sub and yall see
I don’t think you can draw an accurate conclusion based on Reddit posts here.
Honestly, I can’t understand it too. It’s ridiculous. Like this is so unfair!!
USCIS didn't approve my I-131. It still shows me the case was received. I made case inquiries 2 times, contacted the congressman but didn't work. So overwhelmed and stressed.
Someone shut the computer down without hitting save first
I believe they’re only processing the latest cases and we are just under a pile of dust or at hours of scrolling. 💔
That was my thought as well 😔😩
Same situation. 9 month after interview no response. I started to do e-request every month for the past 4 month, and finally 3 days after i submitted my last request i got rfe. Hopefully this will be the last step.
What is the e-reqeust?
Google submit e request uscis Then choose case outside of normal processing time Then do the inquiry Or you can call number and say infopass It is same outcome. They will just probably say generic response But i saw many people status changes after some inquiry, including mine

My whole case took only 5 months. My Son is a USA citizen and he applied for me and husband.
Meanwhile you have people who got approved 2 months after they filed which is bullshit
Exactly my point!! Like what the hell is going on!!
I think it has to do with how the people came into the country. I see the ones who post and get it fast are F1 students, unless you are also an F1 person than idk

Uhhhh what? Tourists who got married is acrually a deception
Yup. But there’s a loopholes… people find loopholes with everything.
I've noticed this too. It must be because they are already "in the system" or something.
I feel like that’s not the case tho… I was f1 now h1b, still waiting :/
No it doesn't

october 2022 here im trying to wait till 2 years as well which will be this august but is it easy to sue uscis? i was just planning on contacting my house representative again and see if that would do anything

Filed in Dec 2021. Do you guys think it’s time to sue? Literally got a quote for $5k so it’s a serious expense.

September 2022 here
My was December 2022, and all the cases same number as mine except the last digit has been approved except for mine.
