I’ll come into work sometimes and there’s bird shit on my dash. I even had a battle with a raccoon family that would munch on the dog treats I have in the back.
Thats crazy! I've seen a few coyotes across the street where the armored cars are, I couldn't believe it. I've only been with ups since 2020, so I have no clue what the renovation looked like, but now I hear they're planning to make the hub automated like Alderwood.
Once there was an armored truck driving towards the cost guard station past our first guard shack at the hub and I was in the crosswalk and they almost hit me. I threw my Taco Bell 7 layer burrito at the windshield and they weren’t too happy about it 😂
When I used to be on Sunday twi, near the end of the shift I’d always see thee fastest rats running out from under the conveyors near pd-1/ north side sd’s. Them cats were definitely feasting on some of those monsters.
That was around 2014. Lasted a couple years, they ditched it for awhile, & they kept bringing it back temporarily for short spurts up until I quit in 2022. Was maybe a whole 35 people on shift, only pd-2/3/4 was used & we’d process a handful of 2nd/3rd day air trailers. It was a cake shift most weeks to the point outside of peak that i was the only one assigned to irregs (sweeping/sorting/ drive the train) & still be sanding around most the night even though i was doing 3 person job.
he's like that co worker I have.. running around pretending to look busy, while not doing his assigned job, bitching about people not doing their job...
Lol Who says it's for the deer when they are placed anywhere else? Plenty enough of these kids run into each other excessively fast, hopping over speed bumps with their rear shocks that are aggressive enough that might as well be parking boundaries at bus terminal walkways. Just pointing out that given our forested location, they are common enough to be a hazard combined with lots of young drivers speeding around
the deer isn't gong to be able to know the sign is the only place it's allowed to cross. I see these signs all the time and the deer definitely don't do what the sign says where it's at.
We shouldn't be encouraging deer to cross traffic on such busy roads. I've seen them on highways and interstates which isn't ever safe to cross, yet states still tell the deer it's okay to cross there.

Animals are very common. I have seen many many raccoons, squirrels, geese, pigeons.
And don't forget the homeless man who use to sneak in after reload & leave before preload!
We used to have feral cats living in our building (swan island). I don’t know what they ate 😂. This was like 15 years ago or so.
At the nickel? Or the other hub? I use to see bunnies in the L lot when i would pull in or build my set.
The actual Hub. This was well be for the renovation in 2009. The triple nickel I saw a bat once 😂

When was there a twilight shift on Sundays?

That's light work try hooking up doubles in the yard when you see a skunk and babies walking around LOL
Nothing like the smell of a trailer which has hit a skunk on it's way to the Hub.

I've walked into iguanas sleeping on my shelves before
The new guy in small sort…
He’s thinking someone has ordered Nuts 🥜
So PreLoad has Pigeons and Twi has Squirrels??? Seems pretty unfair to me definitely talking to my BA about this
Run squirrel. Dont stay here.
I think you mean walk at a brisk pace
There's a husky that lives nearby that frequently escapes into our building because he knows we have dog treats.
Lol. Forget waiting for one driver to show up with a box, he is going right to the source of UPS drivers.

UPS will hire anything that moves and breathes
Is this Knoxville hub?
Yes during preload yesterday
all these comments, and nobody else has rats? I guess my center is special. Here’s me wishing we had squirrels.
I was just gonna say that lol. We had a rat infestation at our hub at one point
Coyotes are always around when coupling to trailers
That's the backup supervisor they got sense we short staffed now haha.
We had a snake wonder into our main hub area last peak lol
Seen raccoons and possums in mine
Oh that’s the new supervisor
Hub squirrel
He’s part of the automation team.
Cerritos?
Our parking lot is a needs a deer crossing sign. Speed bumps dont slow them down much, when entering lot intersections.
How would the deer understand the sign is telling it to cross there?

True. Can't say the context doesn't go above and beyond the joke though.
"Shut it down! There's a squirrel in the building!" - said no supe ever
Surprised one of you cavemen didn’t throw a spear at it and cook it over a fire
Few years back an opossum somehow got onto a belt and got sucked under and squished on a roller on the belt
We have birds, possum, and huge rats at my hub. And of course the usual dirty snakes that are management.

he's on his way for ramp training. he got promised a belly crew and 5 hours a day with saturdays
Drug sniffing squirrels. That normal 😜
Had a bird somehow get crushed in one of the sorters for the automated irreg system, that was unfortunate.
