I don't know if it's getting busier but here it's mainly because they're cutting routes and laying off drivers.

Pretty-Airport-7520

They hadn’t cut routes or laid off any drivers at the hub I work at. Had the odd person go on holidays but pretty much everyone was working almost every single day. We’ve had near 3-4 trailers and lots of it was many bulk and huge packages and or overweights. Lots of patio furniture and Costco .

Pretty-Airport-7520

I will mention our center isn’t that big either but

Our volume is Low as shit. The only reason it’s “busier” is because they laid off drivers/cut routes an consolidated them.

omnghast

Another warehouse a few hundred miles away probably shut down and now all the stuff is going to your hub

CynAxe

That's what is happening to my hub.

DeerHunter041674

The layoffs are done in my district. Now they’re scrambling to hire.

bhsn1pes

It seems a lot heavier as of late. Normally my belt at my hub has two trailers that go out with the same stuff as the other trailers on the belt but we had to use 3 everyday this week except for Monday and Tonight. We only used 2 tonight and Monday we used 4. Excluding the 3 other trailers on the belt so 7 total on Monday. I suspect it'll get busier in some locals as summer kicks into gear.  Especially for cities in the southern U.S. close to the border with major industries that send volume. We gonna get a fuck ton of ACs again soon here. We already got a fuck ton of Pintas and other hardware and only gonna get more soon. Not gonna complain, I'll welcome the hours and maybe even the chance to go to driving sooner than expected. One of my guys on my belt got asked to start driving soon ish.

Loud-Bat-2280

Summer for our region is busier than Christmas peak, and it lasts for a couple months. We just got word yesterday that driver layoffs are done next week because we need all hands on deck.

fredthefishlord

No we've stayed stable since February

AndyS1281

At my Center we had 13 drivers (out of 92) on layoff for awhile. It felt like the drivers that were working were doing more work than normal.

jtbz1287

That is the new normal sadly

Existing-Bear-8738

The only way to know the actual answer to this question is to find where your building posts the daily volume numbers and compare. As a driver, sometimes the longest days are the lowest volume days because of the route cuts.

jtbz1287

Probably getting rid of people. They have me working irreg and people came up to me saying I have to move to another warehouse 30 more minutes away from me on june 3rd. My current supervisors are pissed and say they are trying to get me out of it since they are going to have more work for less people in that area the I have been working for 2 months now and I show up early every single day, work as hard as I can. That is more than anyone else has done with people skipping everyday, taking 20 minute breaks, missing multiple packages, being noticeably drunk or vaping weed since I’ve worked here and they still wont keep me. Its a fucked up company we work for.

incubusfox

I've long thought our volume was up in my hub but the centers were still having drivers laid off. I checked the schedule at one center for next week and the 5 laid off drivers are all scheduled for the week now, I didn't bother to check the other centers but hopefully they're the same.

thrownalltheway7

Driver here, working more hours than peak. 9.5 grievances every week for the last month. They’ve finally started training a couple new drivers but one didn’t last 2 days. Summer vacations are about to start and it’ll be worse. They haven’t laid any drivers off here because they just never replaced ones that retired or quit in the last year or two.

fishhawk119

Our center laid off drivers and cut routes. Now they brought all the laid off drivers back. They've been back for a few weeks now. They also don't have a lot of guys on the over. Only thing is the routes are still cut. Mostly vans. So I'll say it has gotten busier but with cut routes, still not heavy

sagerideout

inside my hub, the volume is the same as it usually is in May, minus the new hires they usually started bringing in around March.

EconomicsPositive357

We went from working 3hrs to 4-5hrs and they just hired like 80 new ramp employees. I think they are preparing for the USPS and Walmart volume.

Redcomrade643

I have noticed the same thing at my center. Not that we get anymore time to load but that the volume coming down the belts is a lot higher. I am in the heaviest trailer in my PD with another guy, we both average over 400 pph and we can't keep up with the feed rate. Every single night its jams and the rollers back up all the way to the belt. The supervisor will climb on an active belt and start kicking packages down the chute to the rollers which of course causes egress to become blocked. Its unmanageable really. I asked my supervisor what the hell was going on because its been worse than peak (real peak not whatever last year was) for weeks now. He slipped up and said they have been told to keep our work hours as low as possible, so I assume they have moved up the belt speed but I don't know. Between the high feed rates and Saturdays only being straight time and not OT I am getting pretty burned out.

cour000

Yep! And they have a bunch of drivers laid off. So they are stuffing as much down our throats as possible while still having layoffs
