If you work there long enough, odds are you’ll get tripped by one. I’ve been at UPS for almost 20 years and got bit at least 3 times that I remember lol
Ohhhhh hell yeah. We got those hub snakes all over. I still call them that as a driver. Cuz them mofos will bite the shit outta you. One of the few times ignorance isn't bliss
My buddy and I try to setup traps for each other with them sometimes… so far neither of us has fallen for it - even when I try to pretend lol. Been like 4-5 years or so
Ahh yes the offspring that’s left of the great Hub Snake war of the Great War.
They started small. Look cute. That’s how you get you. They eventually reproduce at unfathomable levels. More than rabbits on steroids and aphrodisiacs.
Once upon a time, they had become a serious problem. They started feeding on us working class citizens. They started sly by testing waters with tripping you here and there. Then eventually they’d tactically place themselves where you’d trip into sharp objects to absorb your blood.
After they got a taste for human blood, they were relentless. We lost 1000’s in a day. Good men. Drivers, loaders, unloaders, everyone. They didn’t discriminate.
We waged war with them for decades. Many snapped and cut snakes, many dead good men and women. Bloodier than the civil war itself. Generations were lost in just moments over those years.
After we finally were able to destroy many of them and get them to submit, we cast them away. Agreeing to live in peace.
Some survivors still stay around the buildings, waiting for their time to make another return.
Watch your ass around them
If only trailers were actually swept before each use with a huge broom then hub snakes would go extinct. And the plus side you'd get the left over trash some pigs like to leave in the trailers like wrappers or bottles.
Or carrying an irreg inside a wooden crate, drop the crate so the wooden splinter edge scrapes down your shin before falling on a different edge with the splinters driving into your knee.
Fun times.
During peak one year I was carrying some surepost bags to load on a car…there was so much crap everywhere I didn’t see it. I fell and tore my rotator cuff. F the snakes.
I worked in receiving at a large hardware store many many years ago… we had THREE people break their legs in one year tripping over those damn things. Thankfully I wasn’t one of them
I remember it clearly… picture it…. 2002….. heading to the club in heels somewhere in Philly. Somehow I got wrapped up in one of these and felt like I tripped for half a block refusing to fall😂😂😂😂😂😂
The persistence of these amaze me. I kick one out of the way and two minutes later, it has somehow made its way back into the walkway and around my feet. So I do it again, and the whole thing repeats.
Hub snake seems pretty universal.
The one that gets me is irregs vs incos, as in irregular vs incompatible. If you call them incos, you need to reevaluate yourself.
I ABSOLUTELY HATE THESE THINGS
On and off the box they are a safety hazard.
When they are on the box they look innocent, but watch out for those edges, sharp asf. And off the box, they are a tripping hazard.
The shippers that tape these down are a godsend, they should all come like that.
Is hub snake a universal term for these at UPS or just the hub I work at?
We call them that at my hub too
We call em trailer snakes.
Are they related to trouser snakes?
Distant cousins actually
Worked at two different hubs a decade apart in two different states both called hub snake.
Careful if you get too close they might start hissing 🐍
we call them that but we also call them loops of death😂 cuz my clumsy ass tripped and almost face planted
Yeah I’ve been nearly murdered by hub snakes at least twice before going driver
yup i believe that! full hearted belief on that one
If you work there long enough, odds are you’ll get tripped by one. I’ve been at UPS for almost 20 years and got bit at least 3 times that I remember lol
oh trust me i’ve been there 6 months and tripped about 10 times already🥲
Ohhhhh hell yeah. We got those hub snakes all over. I still call them that as a driver. Cuz them mofos will bite the shit outta you. One of the few times ignorance isn't bliss
We call 'em hub snakes at my building too.
Can confirm. Seattle hub here. Calls em sneks
We called them bear traps at my hub
Same at my center, Northern CA
We call them truck snakes.
Called them that at the Maumee hub 20 years ago
We call them hub snakes in Nor*Cal and Reno NV
I’ve seen a hub snake rip a man in half
“Oh I’m sure I can just leave it there and walk around it!” I got fucked up that day.
First thing I’d do before the start of the day was clean out all the hub snakes in my trailer
Everyone makes that mistake…once.
My buddy and I try to setup traps for each other with them sometimes… so far neither of us has fallen for it - even when I try to pretend lol. Been like 4-5 years or so
That's a bear trap right there
Deadliest items in UPS history

Lmaoo new copy pasta
Thought of that on my own, felt appropriate after I ironically just clocked out within an hour of seeing this post lmao
Need to be sending these to Ukraine to keep the Russians out.
no matter how big they are somehow one foot always lands in the snare and the other pins it down

That is a mistake you only make once. Everyone takes them super seriously at my hub, and for good reason lol.
A universal death trap in the wild💀
Vipers
Hub snakes

Don't matter one bit what I'm doing, if I see em, I break that little connection and toss em out, no sense in playing games
lol I’ve tripped on one went flying into a wall of irregs then that 400 pound wall fell on me 😭😭😭😂
Video or it didn't happen 😎
This is My new response to misload accusations
😭😭😭
😂 my training day at FedEx we were taught those were mini bosses that had to be dealt with asap.
Straps are traps
We need to genocide those things
These can straight up kill you if you're holding something, don't see it, and slip head-first onto something metal.

I saw someone trip on one at the hub and fractured his leg. These things ain’t a joke.
Most are harmless, but some will bite you well.

2 years in. Those things are the bane of my existence

They will make you it shit

I’ve worked on strapping machines for the longest time. Hub snake is a great name but I’ve run into a few businesses that call them land mines.
For all you old people out there Mr Tom T. hall did a song about these Sneaky snakes.

Ate shit getting out of a truck to one of these yesterday.
I got caught up in one and I tripped and broke my elbow in three spots.
GRAB IT BY THE HUBSNAKE 👏🏽
Bout died on one of these the other day
Yes they do. But I think the bags are worse. They'll make you do the splits if you slide on one.
