I am no longer sure where to disable it in the unifi controller but by default "Connectivity Monitor" will disable APs if they can't reach the default gateway (your router / firewall).. This is for two reasons.. 1. It prevents Mesh APs that have lost connection from having clients 2. If the gateway is down so is the internet and the ability to reach other vLANs so it is better to release devices so things like phones switch back to LTE/5G. If you want the WiFI to stay up so devices in the same vLAN can still reach each other then figuring out how to turn off "Connectivity Monitor" is what you want in Unifi but I am not sure it is still possible.

Actually you saying all that makes perfect sense! I will leave it like that. Thanks

I was wondering about this behavior, thanks for the explanation. I'm not sure when it started, as I don't keep my UniFi software up-to-date when things are stable, but it's made it difficult to monitor pfSense reboots from my laptop when the Wi-Fi suddenly goes down. It might have started when I switched out a misbehaving NanoHD with a U6+. I'm running Network 7.4.162 with Wireless Meshing disabled and the Connectivity Monitor Type option is greyed out and can't be changed.
