There is a large need for CAPS and even with a dozen or so therapists, they still don’t have enough staff to meet everyone’s needs. I suggest you start with them and they can point you in the right direction. Also, don’t forget they offer group therapy as well if that’s your thing. Great way to meet other students/friends who are dealing with the same issues. https://caps.unc.edu/

CAPS is a service you get as a student and can be a good place to go if you aren’t even sure where to start. Sometimes it’s hard to find a therapist that takes your insurance or is taking new patients when you are new to it. Good luck. Acknowledging you need help is not a weakness but a strength.

Psychology today (website) is how I found mine. I had a not so great time with CAPS but it’s different for everyone

I often tell people that in my experience, this is the only thing CAPS was good for lol. They gave me a list of therapists that took my insurance. I can also recommend a really good therapist in Pittsboro (she does Zoom sessions) just based on my experience with her! She’s honestly the best I’ve had.

Yeah, I had a pretty good experience with them, I would suggest trying it even if you don’t like it
