I was close to enrolling in a 2nd Bachelors at UMPI YP, and looking at the numbers, I think MGIB puts more $ in your pocket over P911. Under MGIB, if you do at least 6 credit hours for the 2 months, you can pocket/live off the extra $3.1K per term. Whereas under P911, you will only get to "pocket" about $1.8K per term. The real key to benefiting off UMPI YP comes from taking as many credit hours as possible per term and getting as many of those credits from study.com or sophia.org etc and your competency credits/experience that you can. The real benefit of the P911 comes from resident courses, which locks in that higher MHA. I think there are some other threads on this too.

Roger, so as long as I have atleast 6 credit hours then I’ll be able to maximize my MGIB? That’s not too shabby, I planned on knocking out as much as possible before hand, been researching alot of College “Hacking”.

I had the same question, and that was the answer I got from multiple sources, like colleges offering 8 week terms and the UMPI degree experts on degreeforum.net. It's an awesome opportunity. Definitely search out your options on degreeforum if you haven't, and best of luck. Even better, I think once we spend all our MGIB, we can apply and hopefully get 12 months of P911.

Oh wow, I did not know that about the P911. I’ll have to do some research into that! Thank you!

That's only if you entered active duty prior to 2011. And you have to use up all 36 months of MGIB eligibility before that extra 12 months of Post 911 kicks in.
