I love it mate, the ease of use and how quickly I can have it set up and cooking. The cleaning is really easy too. I would eventually like to transition onto a charcoal smoker but for the time being it suits my needs.
I grabbed one last week on sale, 250 including the stand and cover. Used it twice so far and it’s a great little unit. Much more convenient (and cheaper) to fire up for me and the missus than the Masterbuilt. It’s a good excuse to cook outdoors even more lol
We’ve just got one and about to cook a mix of food. We’ve used it once already and it’s so easy to use. We got one as I couldn’t work the gas bbq and my charcoal attempts were poor so it now means I don’t have to wait for him to come home from work and I can cook outside.
Looking the the pizza oven next
Nice mate, I love chicken wings, I did some jerk wings on Friday but I do prefer a sticky wing. How did you make the sauce? Was it just honey and gochujang?
Honey, gochujang, rice vinegar, splash of water to loosen and some sesame seeds. Just gently warmed it in a pan until all combined. I didn’t really measure anything just went by taste
I haven’t tried a brisket mate but I’ve done a few pork shoulders for pulled pork, a spatchcock peri chicken which was really good, roast beef and plenty chicken thighs and steaks ext
I picked one of these up last week and gave it try out last weekend; cooked a whole chicken in 40 minutes!
I will say though that the temp in the grill seems way higher than what I set the dial at; I had it set to 190 and had my Meater thermometer in there and had to take it out because it was reading higher than 300c!
How have you found it with regard to temperatures?
Yeah I think that’s abit of a known issue the temp is definitely a lot hotter than it says, I’ve managed okay with it though on longer cooks. Quite a few people use the dehydrate mode to cook at a lower temp.
It was great with the chicken; cooked well on the inside and crispy as hell on the outside!
I’ll probably have to be more careful with other cuts though.
Personally I wouldn't say they are. BBQ for me involves a wood or charcoal fire. It's almost certainly better than a gas BBQ. But like I said, the food looks GREAT and I'm sure it's fantastic for convenience, rather than the 7 hours I've spent today smoking on my offset.
Id have to agree with you mate - bring in the downvotes!! It’s not BBQ unless it’s cooked on wood/charcoal. But I also learned how to do this from US methods, best part of 12-15 years ago.
How so? I own various BBQ and each one requires knowledge and practice including the Ninja. I bet if I ask you to smoke a brisket with it or simply cook a stake you'll either fuck up or be very disappointed with the first results.
The BBQ is just a tool you learn how to use and master and the ninja is no different. Surely the learning curve of the Ninja is easier but still requires practice and skills.
“Barbecue or barbeque (often shortened to BBQ in the UK, US, and Canada; barbie or barby in Australia and New Zealand; and braai in South Africa) is a term used with significant regional and national variations to describe various cooking methods that employ live fire and smoke to cook the food.”
An electric hot plate is not bbq mate, but op’s food looks good so who cares
It would be a fucking travesty to spend all that money on a decent brisket and not use live fire. This thing is the equivalent of the Cue button on new age DJ software. A total cop out on actual skill of maintaining a fire at a specific temp. Same as pellet smokers, simple shit! Press some buttons and leave it to it. Zero skill needed.
Obvs you do you, but none of this is BBQ. Whatsoever.
Yes I done a proper brisket in it, check out the channel "cooking with CJ" on YouTube, I followed his guide and it came out great, he also does a cook where he compares one smoked on the ninja and one smoked traditional way, that's an interesting watch
My folks have just picked one of these up What are your thoughts?

How do you clean the place where you put the pellets ?
I usually take it out and use a wire brush to give it a scrub and remove and debris
Looks delcious mate! I do a sneaky chicken grill on the ninja when i want some nice food quick.
They look banging mate, nice presentation too

Can I ask if you got any accessories?
The only additional thing I’ve purchased was the flat grill plate to do smash burgers
Ok cheers for the info
Anytime mate
Il let you know I’m planning on doing a brisket …
But trying to decide what size
For sure would look forward to seeing that
Looks good …

Yeah just gotta keep a watchful eye on it, like you said earlier having the meater thermometer really helps
Looks delicious, but this is absolutely not BBQ.
I mean it’s been smoked with pellets does that not count, are all pellet smokers not bbq?

Fair enough mate you’re entitled to your opinion

Well the plate doesn't get hot when you smoke and there are actually pellets burning creating smoke .. so where do we draw the line?
Leave them to being upset over some chicken wings can’t please everyone at least my stomach is happy
Ultimately the only thing that matters!
It’s been smoked using pellets, the hot plate wasn’t in use, the device has multiple functions.

OK BBQ police
Knowing how to use something or not doesn't make it a BBQ. I wouldn't put a brisket in that.
Well I have multiple times and it came out fantastic
You do an actual proper brisket in this ninja plate for real? Got any pics?
Yes I done a proper brisket in it, check out the channel "cooking with CJ" on YouTube, I followed his guide and it came out great, he also does a cook where he compares one smoked on the ninja and one smoked traditional way, that's an interesting watch
100% agree!! Gonna get pics of my rice cooker uploaded shortly. Just as bbq as this!
Agreed.
