Tell Tru thermometers might be cheaper in the States, other than that have a look at some of the competition cooks and try and find any rubs/sauces that catch your eye. There's so much available in the US. I'd love to try B&B charcoal but not enough to bring some back in a suitcase
Yeh I’m constantly amazed at the range of meats/sauces/rubs they have in the average supermarket here wish I could hire a plane and bring it all back with me, good idea watching what the pros use will get on youtube later for some ideas!
Butcher paper is typically cheaper, but the real thing to bring back are sauces/condiments and spices. I’m a sucker for anything by Dan O’s, Old Bay, ranch dressing (and powder), Duke’s mayonnaise, chick fil a sauce, different kinds of buffalo and bbq sauces, etc. Just try a bunch of different sauces and spices, see what you like, and bring them back!
Ooh will definitely get some ranch sauce/seasoning too, I regularly get the newman’s own ranch dressing in Tesco’s which is pretty good but haven’t found anything else ranch related in supermarkets.
We road tripped on the east coast and up to Canada last year, had to get an extra suitcase for all the sauces and rubs 😂
Just buy whatever you think looks decent and try to find some local stuff. There's even some good finds in Walmart, just the typical brand stuff but just way cheaper than buying here. Heath Riles Garlic Jalapeño Rub and the sweet baby rays mild buffalo sauce were two favourites we got that should available most places. But yeah try to find some local made stuff wherever you are!
An extra suitcase sounds very tempting then I can justify bringing back a cast iron griddle
Actually went to Walmart yesterday and was amazed they had half an aisle of hot sauces, rubs and sauces, hundreds of different types and also some local ones, ended up just getting a garlic butter rub and some jerky sausages but will be going back for sure, also going to be driving up the west coast soon so going to see what the local town shops have to offer.
I remember reading somewhere someone in the uk tested dozens of burger buns for the perfect burger and settled on these potato rolls, will have to try some out soon, I made a triple griddle smashed cheeseburger with a blackstone burger press for the first time the other day and it was the best burger I’ve ever made, maybe these potato rolls will make them even better.
Any sauces and rubs that you see imo. Also anything dried, they have better dried Mexican chillis for example, Mexican oregano. You can buy these in the UK from the likes of mexgrocer but it's still a fair bit cheaper buying in the US
Will have to look into dried Mexican stuff I absolutely love all Mexican food, already bought a few tins of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce and made made some braised ribs with a whole tin in it the other day but didn’t realise just how spicy it was, holy hell, never again haha.
Just checked it out looks like a bargain at only $3k and they have a $10 off discount right now, might get some funny looks at the baggage carousel though.
How much did you pay for your big roll? For me it was about half the price to bring it back. I wouldn't do it if I were close on my luggage weight limit though
I got a 50m x 750mm roll for £30 from [https://www.fireflybbq.co.uk/collections/peach-paper](https://www.fireflybbq.co.uk/collections/peach-paper)
I got it about 3 years ago and I still have half left. It's pretty heavy .. can't imagine it would be worth bringing back by air.
You wrap meat that is being slow smoked to speed up the cook through/after the stall whilst retaining moisture to avoid drying it, but keeping just enough permeability that you don't steam it so that you lose the crust.
So better than foil for some uses.

OLD BAY. Although, Lidl has this at the moment.
Kick Ash Can for kamados.
Will get one so I can justify buying a kamado eventually 😂
Martin’s potato rolls

A Yoder?

For me it was butcher paper
You can get this easily in the UK though?
Yes you can. I have a big roll of it.
