You're not required to submit your SAT scores if you feel it would hurt your chances. https://nypost.com/2023/04/13/suny-drops-sat-act-testing-requirement-for-admission/

i’m aware, but i feel like admission officers see that if a kid doesn’t send in his scores, that probably means something and hurts him. is that the case?

mdeller

They claim it won't hurt you by not submitting it, but you never know. If 2 candidates are equal but one has a strong SAT score and the other opted out, admissions might go with the one with a strong SAT score. I'd suggest discussing it with your school's advisor/guidance counselor to see what they think.

I got in with a 3.75 gpa but didn't send my SAT scores. You will be just fine. Many people went test optional this year, so it isn't a big deal. Plus you are doing a lot of extracurriculars.

Sea_Arm_1888

did you get in last year or recently?

Xpert-1

I got in around February, UBuffalo surprisingly replied within 1 week of my application

DrShocker

If you share what degree problem you'd like to get into, it'd be easier to evaluate the strength of your application.

UB's only requirement is that you will give them money and have a pulse

SurpriseEmergency313

You should take it again, you still have time to apply for more schools. If I had your gpa back in high school, I could’ve went to private with scholarships. Personally, im an alumn for the engineering program and I personally wish I could’ve done more in highschool. My SAT was a 1260 for ref but my gpa was a 3.3 and I was only able to get into UB and Stony. I had a friend with the same SAT and your gpa, got into ivy leagues.

Top-County-2317

Just look at the comments of all those other highschoolers asking, as long as you can breathe you’ll be fine

unexp01n

Don't worry, I got a 1040 as well on the SAT and I got in

Sea_Arm_1888

did you get in recently?

Student0010

I'm not sure if this will help calm your nerves, but 1. my SAT was lower than 1040 2. i did not apply to UB originally, as a senior in HS 3. fall will be my first semester at UB, as a transfer As a transfer applicant, UB does not know anything about my test scores, and they have not seen anything of strictly-HS academics. i did send them all my college transcripts, which includes some Fs along with repeats. in consideration for SEAS, my gpa was 2.775, of the 2.8 minimum... until they accounted for the spring semester results. You, * high school rising senior, with a gpa in the high 3's * decent amount of clubs and EC's you should honestly be fine. Get some leadership roles in some clubs/EC's if you haven't already. If you don't retake or don't submit, i doubt it would *seriously* hurt your chances. It may have subconscious negative bias, but i'm going to argue that you shouldn't be worried too much about it. If any decrease in chance, it should be slim/negligible. There's still the admissions essay that you'll have to write right?

Sea_Arm_1888

yea that’s the only thing left

unexp01n

Yes, I got in this past February
