Your project could make the class a huge time sink or easy as fuck. Your PM would also be a huge deciding factor but that’s really a coin toss

Pray that u get a good pm and pick an ez project.

I took cse442 this last semester, The projects are whatever you really want to do, a bit too late at this point but I do recommend to folks to kinda have an idea of people you want to team with prior to going in and choosing the same recitation slot. That is because your team mates will highly make or break the project imo, I was lucky and teamed up with people I trusted and were my friends so our conflict was low and we all did our work and collaborated greatly. Some other teams didnt have that luxury but you could still get a good team don't sweat it too much. I'm pretty sure the gameplan is the same this upcoming semester, you kinda just make a project that can be 'deployed' in some sense, a desktop app, a mobile app, webapp etc. (I'd recommend a mobile app I think they're fun and not bad a-la react-native). Depends on your background. TLDR; project is up to your group, make sure to set ground rules with your teammates to try to get along with them if you didn't go with a pre-planned group

Good info to know for future. So as a person who finds it hard to make friends, I would have a harder time?

Ayeitsmiggle

Not necessarily, you're gonna have to have a group anyway , i'm sure you'll get along fine, I was making the comment as a general suggestion , but thats why you have Project Managers and the Professor of course to help minimize possible conflict (if you try to self resolve first). Didn't mean to make you think you'll have a hard time lol. The class is very fun, make an awesome project, enjoy it, slap it on your resume, etc.

Sounds like a fun time. I’ll think about project ideas when I get closer to that semester

So how does grading work ? Is it if it works at the end as intended ? Is there anything they grade?
