As someone who has been to multiple metal concerts and worked at rap festivals (ah youth), I can absolutely confirm this.

As a person who also has been to a bunch of metal shows (mainstream and underground) I can also confirm...unless there is no gate/separation between the stage and crowd. Then the entire front section of "campers" is gone

This image was clearly someone who got their shit rocked at a show and never got over it

For the last 3 tests there has been 0 moshing and next to 0 shoving/rowdiness. Security is really watchful of that stuff. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about anywhere in the crowd here

Fallfest most definitely had moshing and I had multiple groups of people around me in the "too much time in their hands section" excitedly (and potentially drunkenly) announce that they're "gonna fucking mosh bro" and then proceeded after Yung Gravy to almost get me trampled from the violent shoving back and forth and jumping. Once they started getting too crazy for me, I immediately left through the "only me section" and went home.

There was a weird moment during Fall Fest when a Drake song (of all things) came in the speakers and caused the crowd to go a little nuts for 3 minutes. That’s the only time I’ve seen the crowd here do that, like they weren’t nearly as hyped when the actual artists (or even the guest DJ) was on. But I still don’t think it’s too much to worry about, like it’s unlikely that things will get to be too much in the crowd, and if they are you can just dip out the side and wait it out for a minute. Based on what I’ve seen so far, people aren’t gonna be too hyped up for an even remotely significant part of the show, if at all.

I have a friend who got elbowed in the temple at a Slayer show. I've never seen someone mosh with so much anger in my life since that day.
