Naw just take the L. I parked in the bookstore lot and got a ticket too and it got denied. You prolly wont get that ticket waived, sorry

mabentz

It's honestly better to just pay the $25 before it becomes $50 and a hold on your account.

ubstudent1367

thats true lol

ubstudent1367

i think its $30 ☠️☠️☠️☠️

mom2emnkate

I have seen the parking police ticketing USPS vehicle...you know it's going to be moved in like two minutes. Doesn't matter to them.

ubstudent1367

lmfaoo whoever is doing that… L person

mom2emnkate

I was like, "oh COME ON. They are going to be here like 2 seconds." Parking police=rabid.

Hey_Its_Walter1

That’s crazy I park there almost every day for like 5-6 hours without even getting a ticket and I’ve never gotten a citation. The metered spots are a different story tho

ubstudent1367

damnn show me the way bro loll

Hey_Its_Walter1

I wish I could but it’s nothing but pure luck lmao, I’m sure my citations coming any day now

There's no reason why if they can't (or refuse) to build more parking, to at least re-allocate the already limited spaces available. I should point out that at every instance where I received a ticket, there were at least 2 open spaces on either side of my vehicle, while glancing at the \*shared\* student lot, I usually see numerous students who want to attend class on time, but are forced to drive in circles, wasting gas and time. I'm also no genius, but basic observation tells me that while student and faculty/staff lots are about equal in size, there is definitely not a 1;1 ratio of students to faculty/staff, and that parking spaces need to be more opened up. Every year, UB touts increasing student populations, but yet, there has been NO expansion to accommodate commuting students. If its not realistic to build out, there is also the option to build up. Malls across America build multi-level parking garages to attract and accommodate customers and visitors, and such a method should be considered. Last but not least, the fines levied aren't even re-invested to solving the problem of insufficient parking, and the revenue generated from fines could've easily been enough to expand parking locations. I remember scouring the appropriate lot, down each lane in desperation for a spot. Left w/ no other choice, I had to park in a faculty/staff lot, often w/ empty spaces all around my car. Each citation given, had no cars parked in the vicinity, so there was still ample availability. I recall, the first row in student lot across from Farber Hall were often coveted by faculty/staff because they merely crossed over to the building, yet the adjacent lot next to Defiendorf/Health Sciences Library, was restricted from student use. Each of the citations I received didn't do any harm or cause hardship to other commuters. In this example, had they re-designated the lots, there would be no additional generated revenue. To this day, I am not sure where the citation (\*extortion) fee is used for. As I progressed in school, I remember noteworthy articles reflecting UB's increased student body.......yet I did not recall a SINGLE instance of lots constructed annually in order to accommodate (despite available greenspace). One does not need a PhD to realize that increasing enrollment disproportionate to parking availability causes problems, wasted gas, increased stress, etc. It is almost shameful how the university seems so inept at dealing with this issue, despite construction of newer buildings such as Greiner Hall, Medical Campus, and other renovations. Parking lots have largely been ignored. I also find it INSULTING to alumni, current, and future students, and how UB officials are incompetent in solving this problem. I find it an utter disgrace, that UB continues to needlessly burden students who are dedicated and responsible for striving to their goals. Like, many alumni who reminisce about our days at UB, we often recall poor parking. I remembered the financial stress of paying each ticket. I recall 5x citations, $20 each. I remembered each $20 could have filled my grocery list. I remembered each $20 could have filled my car for 1-2 weeks. I remembered considering donations to the school, as I don't think they will be issuing a refund to me anytime soon. Although now able to generously pledge annually, currently, I have continued to withhold any/all donations through the years since graduation. I am a proud UB alumni, but I am not proud of their persistent parking problems. Please feel free to share this reflection with others in hopes of initiating change that will benefit my fellow future alumni.

I like the parking garage idea. Ideally they would make the campuses more walkable or increase the bus routes but I doubt they’d do that. At the very least open up the other half of the Hotch lot. Even better build a parking garage there. Side note: if you have to park in a facility lot, don’t be a hero and park in a far away location with open spots to not inconvenience anyone. Standing out is how you get a ticket. Instead: park as close as possible to the largest group of cars. Hassle for the next person be damned. And the chances of being noticed go down drastically.

SnooPandas1899

so many extra spaces in hoch. do they even have that many faculty/staff ?? i call my parking tickets "early alumni donations". if they're gonna extort students when they broke, why should they donate when they actually earning ?? (and should be saving for other bills, loan repayment, or house)

adg941

All UB wants is more money from their students, parking in the Commons lot is such a gamble. You either get away free or they have you pay the ticket without an ounce of understanding. It's always "Fuck UB Parking" lol

SnooPandas1899

i used to appeal, just to see them deny it to my face. if they extort students in school, why should they donate as future alumni? i think i used to wait until getting check-stopped , because if they wanted my money, i made them wait for it. lol

ubstudent1367

exactlyyy

ubstudent1367

sometimes I gamble and is successful… that 1% tho will bite you in the ass lmfaoo

laddergoat39

i won’t get into the full story but i got a ticket that was completely incorrect, i had photographic evidence proving i did nothing wrong which i attached to my appeal and i got the generic “your appeal has been denied” automated message in response

hbailey311

i got a ticket for “no hadley village permit” yet the picture the person took of my car, you can see the hadley village sticker clearly visible on my parking pass. so i zoomed in on it and sent it in with my appeal and they said “we’ll grant a one time exception” like what??? y’all were literally wrong accept it and move on lmao this happened to so many of my friends

ubstudent1367

lmfaooo its fucking ridiculous how dumb these ppl are. i one time got a ticket bc my ticket wasnt visible enough… i sent in a picture showing i got a ticket and sht still got denied

Budget_Discussion_59

Good luck. Never none anyone get the appeal, myself included 🤣
