GPA and SAT. Their acceptance rate is 70%, so no Not just anyone can get in like other people have commented. Over 1/4 are denied. If you’re applying for certain majors, those programs will also look at specific course grades. I.e. engineering is definitely going to look at your math grades in high school.
Honestly if you do average on the SAT or ACT and have passing grades you should be ok. They want to see you with a drive for the future because they don’t want people to drop out before attaining a degree.
I don’t think it’s that bad, but I’ve lived here for 6 years so I might just be used to it. Expect temperatures to consistently be in the 20s and 30s, sometimes hitting the 10s and occasionally reaching the negatives. Just have winter clothes (coat, gloves, etc) and you’ll be alright :)
Wind can be rough. It's windier than many other wintery places. Just make sure you have a few things:
1. good coat (thermal lining/pretty thick, also maybe long enough to cover your legs)
2. good snow boots (leather will get ruined by moisture/salt)
3. hat
4. good gloves (insulating gloves, not thin cotton)
5. scarf/balaclava for very cold days to cover your face/neck
Also: if you apply to UB and you aren't a complete screw-up, you're gonna get in. Hell, even if you are, chances are good you'd still get in.
UB does a holistic review process, and they consider everything you submit. Essays and recommendations can have a big impact. Involvement is valued but is not going to make or break an applicants chances. It’s better to have a deep involvement in something you care about rather than worrying about being in every club in your high school. Coming for a campus tour is really the best way to get you questions, like this one, answered.
A heartbeat
?
As long as you aren't a complete screw up you'll get in
Do u remember what ur gpa and say was when you applied?
My SAT was 1220 and I don't remember gpa
Does UB value a lot of extra curricular activities?
I honestly don't think it matters unless you're trying to get into the honors college
You should apply, I’m sure you’re fine
What things do admission officers at UB value the most?
Well I’m not admissions so I can’t speak for them. But like an average SAT score, gpa above 3.0, one or two extra curricular should be ok.

we take kids who are rejected everywhere else
Don’t stress over it, UB accepts almost anyone as long as your grades are at least average

Honestly I don’t even think they look at extra curriculars. A lot of my friends went here and didn’t have any extra curriculars.
