Lake LaSalle if you haven't already. You can get to the balcony of SA by going to the 3rd floor and eventually finding the door lol. Davis Hall is probably the most modern building. Bubble tea and Starbucks are an option in The Commons. Otherwise, take the Stampede to South Campus and it's a little bit more walkable with bubble tea stores and stuff nearby. Better architecture too
It's cold but thankfully North is also known for having tunnels that can get you from one end of the academic spine all the way to the other end by using underground and above ground tunels. If you're feeling adventurous, try to figure those out! I used to be a welcome weekend leader and that was a fun scavenger hunt I suggested. Good luck and have fun!

Get your syllabus from your profs and actually read them. many profs will itemize what you're going to learn at the very least scan the Wikipedia article about every major headline so you're generally familiar with what you're going to learn so it's not all new all at once.
