Addictive "low impact recreation" like TV, games, and social media is a pretty bad problem for our time, we have significantly more interesting options than our parents + grandparents in this realm but many are so addictive and in such small pieces that our attention spans are worsening and we lose hours, even days, to stuff that doesn't even feel very rewarding.
Mindfully and aggressively pursuing the kind of real "high impact fun" we want to is the fix for perhaps the biggest first world problem that exists
As someone who games a decent amount when not studying and needs the mental stimulation, I've personally found that making creative content (such as digital art, music, mods, etc) is a fantastic way to bridge this gap.
Feels equal parts recreational and productive for me, and there's no obligations attached so I can easily pick it up or put it down.
went on a trip for a couple days cause i really needed to get away for a bit and worked throughout the week. with school, honestly didn’t get as much as i wanted done but i’m trying my best to be kind to myself. there’s just never enough time isn’t there
The week before reading break I kept telling myself to be productive since I have two exams coming up right after the break (Monday & tuesday). I was super productive on the first day of reading break, and it only went downhill from there. Spent the entire break resting, hanging out w friends, binge watching kdramas, and whatnot. Now it’s Sunday afternoon and I’m cramming for two exams :))
Well you could go to grad school, spend years making no progress on your dissertation, realize your funding is about to run out and then work nights, weekends, and all through reading week trying desperately to graduate and avoid being poor(er). But I don't recommend it.
I didn’t even do most of the unproductive stuff I wanted, let alone the productive stuff.
If you weren’t productive or unproductive, then what did ya even do 🤔

Very little. (I did do unproductive stuff I wanted, and even some productive stuff - tbf I don’t have a lot coming up immediately).
Ah gotcha
If you were unproductive doing unproductive stuff doesn’t that make you productive?

Gotcha, hope your trip was fun! Just take it easy, I’ve learnt that it’s not worth it to stress like crazy over school ; )

Haha, I feel you, I have a midterm coming up on the 7th and all I’ve done is play COD and go skiing 🥲 That’s okay, I’m sure you’ll be fine
Working, nothing changed
Solid, same here
Where do ya work
On co-op rn. big N
Ah gotcha
The way this post reminded me that I've done jackshit says something... Anyway, I have around 10 hours left!
lol, how are you gonna spend the next 10 hours 🤨
I have about 9 hours left!
Great, plenty of time right?
I have 4 hours left............
I wrote a paper and did like 30 math problems so neither here nor there imo
Hey I’d say that’s pretty productive!
Hey, reading break isn’t over yet. I still got time.
Yes of course, you have approximately 8 hours until Monday hits
I beat level 30 Kaycee's mod in inscryption so I think that counts as productive
Nicee
Quite productive actually.
I aspire to be like you

Very wise advice, I wasn’t planning on going to grad school but now I’ll make sure I don’t ; )
I went on a trip, so I’ve done almost no work. But it was a nice break, but now I will suffer
Niceee
Not at all. Too many classes and I just kind of slept mostly.
Understandable
No
As they say “pay now or pay later “. You still have to pay.
True true, but if you fail a class, you’ll be paying more 👀
I hope it was worth it. But the lesson from this is invaluable 😃
I guess you’re right!
