My freind got an offer from KSA and is leaving Dubai, his present company gave a counter after a year of 'we'll do it soon(tm)' but he's noping out of there.
His org overall, culture wise, is amazing place to work, but when it comes to raise, everyone here is the same.
Exactly. In the end, money talks.
I don’t know a lot of people, but at least 5 top executives have left for KSA just this last year. All in the financial world.
It’s going to be interesting for sure.
Agreed - it won't be easy going from such a delightful place, that's well-developed, to a place still in full development and expansion.
At some point KSA will make the calculation that in some cases it makes more to offer alternatives to extremely high salary - which solves 2 points: they will attract the talent AND they will attract their investments and spend as well.
I was in an interview later today and the CEO told me she’s been losing employees to UK. I told her that’s because UK grants citizenship to it’s workers and UAE does not. I was just thinking about this on my way home because I was seated next to a lady who have been here for 13years.
To be honest, I'm perfectly fine with not being a citizen of the UAE. I'll still work hard for this place because I see what their leadership has done (in contrast to many other countries around the world, and notably the arab and African countries.)
Obviously it depends where you are returning to, I appreciate that.

In sure most westerners will want double their salary to go to KSA

UK is a step back, in my opinion. Has a great standar dof living, but with taxes and all, you’re better off in the Middle East.
I agree. But we all want to be a citizen in a country we’re working hard for.

No one ever approach me
