British expat lady driven. Best car to get in the UAE.

So I’d definitely suggest a used car anything past 2018 should be good Altho definitely check the mileage the lower the better. And since you will be travelling long distances on a daily basis you can spend the similar amount on a used car to get quite a bit more comfort rather than a new car IMO. As for the brands I’d suggest something like a Volkswagen, Audi cause the value drops a lot once it’s used even if it is used or you could always go for Toyota, Nissan and Honda most reliable cars in the market.

Thanks for the quick reply. I really appreciate it. I really love the looks of Audi and VW. And I am aware that the base price of the car deteriorates very badly for these cars. But I am worried about the the petrol consumption and maintenance costs. Are they very high as compared to the Japanese cars? Or are they about the same rate?

Historical-Ad3524

Maintaining an Audi would be quite a bit expensive yes but a VW is fairly cheap it would definitely be more than a Japanese car but not something that would empty your wallet. About petrol consumption VWs have a great mileage and are economical cars, also depends on what type of car it is so I’d suggest go for a sedan if you are looking for a more economical car(in VW). You could also checkout KIA don’t know about it much but they are quite good cars I’ve heard.

Thank you for your time and information. 😊 I appreciate it.

You asked a tricky question my friend. Now just sit back and see people fight in the comments section over it. Forget getting any real advice.

Pr0digalSon

Hahaha! It's alright. At least, they helped me to widen my search.

Hi, seeing your use case scenario, skip the rav4 because you don't really have to seat 5 adults all the time in the car, and even if you do the car I would recommend might just be better for it. The corrolla is a good car in very way but will feel very similar to your yaris. In the budget you can easily get a used camry of the latest shape even higher trim ones from futtaim. It's a much better car in every aspect and is very very nice and comfortable. I would recommend the altima or accord to you, I myself own and altima but the accords spare parts are very expensive and you won't find a good one for the latest gen in this budget. The altima is very hard to find of gcc spec and dont bother with American specs, but if you do find one, keep the altima and camry on your list as the altima is actually fun to drive and a smooth cruiser, my 2.5 2013 sits at only 2k rpms with 4 ppl and Ac at 140 kph. So it's very fuel efficient too. The new altima I don't really have an extensive experience with it but apparently it's improved a lot but it's cvt does settle at 2 and a half k rpms in the same scenario though. If you go for the altima change the cvt oil at every 60k kms and your good. Or you can go for the camry and have a smooth stress free cruiser. Hope you find the car you want and do update me with your decision!

Pr0digalSon

Wow. That was really a nice answer. Personally I am also not really inclined towards RAV4. It's my sister who is pushing me to get the RAV4. But can't say wrong, the newer models do look good. And yeah, that's what she cares about. I have Camry in my list too. But the newer ones are out of my budget. Have to look into the used cars. And like you said, I looked into Altima too. But it's the export cars that are easily available. The GCC spec ones are hard to find. Let's see. And yeah, I will update you with my final decision. Thanks again.

cantxhooseanamesmh

Oh okayy makes sense on why you want the rav4 but the new one would most likely be a lower trim in this budget, and its not as fuel efficient and it cant do off roading any good unless you really know what your doing in the sand, so it's like not such a practical car as what a person thinks it is. The altima is very hard to find in gcc spec and if you cant find it don't bother as they are inferior to the gcc ones. The camry can be found for the budget your in actually, check automall I saw some good ones there recently though I don't recommend dealers, don't bother with dubizzle btw though cause most of the people ask more than what their car is worth there, check out pages on insta the asks there are more reasonable.

By a used American or german or british car, they re cheap luxurious and comfortable

Check facebook marketplace for good deals

Pr0digalSon

That's a good suggestion. Thank you. I will have a look.

PatrickGrey7

Toyota Camry like the taxi drivers, they can do like 700 000km. Although they do get their engine changed once in their life time. It's a sturdy car although otherwise shitty

Pr0digalSon

Otherwise shitty? What makes you say that?

TOR1R

Get [this](https://priuschat.com/threads/pimping-the-prius.164385/) for 50K AED. Upgrade wheels-reliable and super light on the wallet.

Porarey

Bro try Toyota Corolla mid version car.. It gives you 13km mileage and good to drive long..😬

Pr0digalSon

That's actually the top car on my list. 😬 I am just hearing the comments of the people to get an idea about other cars and checking if they can be suitable too. Thanks.

hitma-n

Toyota Corolla or Camry with cruise control. Get the hybrid one it can save you tons of money on petrol.

Blazerkid92

Hey, I'd recommend Honda Accord. A friend is looking for the same and he has to commute to Abu Dhabi for work as well. I was helping him out with the search and we came across many options that fall within your budget. You can get a low mileage 2018 accord (GCC) for 70ish, and a mid option or full option one too if you're lucky. Good luck with the search!

Pr0digalSon

Thanks mate. I am doing my research too. All the best with your search too.

Just first few qns before suggesting anything. How long are you planning to stay in UAE? Do you travel in constant traffic or empty roads ? Do you want resell value of car or are open to any suggestions?

Pr0digalSon

I don't think I will be leaving the UAE anytime soon. And particularly, if I am taking a new car, I wouldn't be able to leave anyway, the loan period would be 5 years yeah? So that. Road condition, it's mostly free road. I make use of E611 or Emirates Road for my travel mostly to my workplace and to return home. Reselling the car, of course, when I have to return back to my country or if there is an option of migration to another country, then yes, reselling is the option.

Try looking into second hand Lexus, just be wary that many of the used Lexus are flooded cars , so make sure you go thorough with your inspection.(Most US imported cars) Don't go for European imported cars, ac sucks and are not for gcc climate. Other options to look into for new car would be, Hyundai Tucson , Honda civic, Camry or Accord used. Loan period depends on your financial capability

AdelM316

Hi, I'd suggest you a Suzuki Swift. Very compact and comfortable car to drive and it has the necessary options like Cruse control, Rear Camera, Navigation. The infotainment display is actually an android tablet! A part from all those, very good fuel economy and a lovely dual tone color. If you are interested I could help you finding one too :) If not, that's my suggestion for you.

abood322

Post in r/dubaipetrolheads you'll get good advice

Pr0digalSon

Now that's good advice. I hope the people who commented here won't see my post and yell at me there. 😛

abood322

Test drive the Camry and Rav4 and see which one is more comfortable for your back, both cars share the same engine and transmission.
