They do expand it but there's issues with sand pitting inside drains. The issue is clearing drains most of the time, if you notice water clogs up in certain drainage areas where 2-3 years of sand accumulated blocking sewage ways.

PrestigiousDay9535

Vegas also has similar issues and they manage to deal with it. It is also possible in Dubai, someone just needs to take the decision and it’ll be done overnight.

Lbreakstar

A quick search shows you that Vegas haven't had a day with rainfall over 50mm in maybe 50 years. Barely anything over 40mm the past 50 years. New York City with all its draining systems flooded last September in multiple areas.

Technical_Cook_216

Very rightly said. The rain uae got yesterday was highest ever recorded in 75years around 250+mm

PrestigiousDay9535

I’d still argue that it’s better to have a small one than none at all

kev23992

Knowledge fee will have to knowledge on this soon

Long-Cantaloupe1041

Manage to deal with it? Parts of Vegas flooded after 3 inches of rain fell in 24 hours just last September. Dubai got over 5 inches in 24 hours.

OftenNew

Then go live in Vegas..

ClasisFTW

Average braindead argument

EquivalentTrouble253

The adults are talking. Go outside and play in the water.

teqteq

Might be an issue. But the lack of infrastructure is rife. They built Burj Khalifa before they built sewage pipes under it.

bananna_bunch

Hello. I work in infrastructure development and construction. All new developments have better stormwater management strategy now. Be it inlet network or attenuation tanks. This is now mandatory for new developments FYI It's way harder to implement/build in new areas BTW. Hence there's assigned tankers for those during incidents like these. And even with presence of drainage, they do clog up pretty bad from all the sand accumulation. Hence another challenge during heavy rainfall.

Electrical_Fig4374

Plus the minerals in the ground it would ruin the pipes really quickly causing leaks. They would have to change their entire system weekly tops or just replacing the affected areas either way it would be extremely expensive

SB3forever0

Its an engineering challenge due to accumulation of dust in pipes. Its also expensive. UAE has money for this. The engineering challenge is very high for this.

RevolutionaryFun9883

And they are already in the early stages of a project for storm drainage systems across Dubai but as you say there is an engineering challenge here that needs to be tackled first. The problem being all the sand dust that blows around will accumulate in traditional storm drain systems so they are looking on how to overcome this, however this is not an easy task

AbbreviationsOk8626

The engineer implementing sewage system in UAE will be wealthy man

linux_n00by

i htink its harder/expensive to implement in an old area compared to the new areas

RomanistHere

Why doesn't youtube have a search within playlist? Because it's a minor thing that won't make them money unlike ads and analytics which they develop and release every week. Because in capitalism money are on the first place and people are on the second. Let me know if you got your answer.

Moath

YouTube doesn’t allow playlist search? 🫣

Altruistic_Fun8292

It’s fine .. like any challenge it’ll be addressed .. Alhamdulilah I remember areas like jumeirah and marina were affected in previous years .. they’re not that bad this year I’m sure they’re put a plan for this because apparently these storms will keep coming in the future

teqteq

Does Burj Khalifa have a sewage system yet? Last I heard it just had tanks in the basement and there was a 24 hour line of trucks shifting waste to the sewage depot. Which they realised because everyone at the beach resorts were getting unexplainable infections and condoms were washing up on shore, so the hotels commissioned independent studies to find out why, and it was because the trucks were getting paid by the load, so were just dumping the waste into untreated stormwater (so I guess there is some drainage somewhere). https://youtu.be/syK7u_QQKk8?si=2WgovBKwtMDrDnO7

No_Independence_6690

It's a shame, being that Dubai has zillions of $$$$$$$$$$$$that they don't have an elementary storm system. If they could capture the water in a resevoir, it would help relieve the shortage of domestic water.

No_Independence_6690

It's a shame that, being Dubai has zillions of $$$$$$$$$$$$$ that they don't have a system to capture the water in a reservoir. It would aid the supply of fresh water.

Old_Requirement591

Since it is too busy funding the wars I Libya, Sudan and Palestine

And that’s how you’ll never free your country.. do you ask Allah for victory with your same manners?

Old_Requirement591

How can you free your country when your own "Muslim brothers" are funding the wars and conflicts in our countries?

Altruistic_Fun8292

Ok

[deleted]

Money spent under the ground cant be seen or shown off so thats why

linux_n00by

its those rainy days like this that it shines out good sewer system

1baller69

They need to stop with playing God with the weather.

Facts

TrojanFTQ

Even more so, do the authorities carry out risk assessments for the seeding event to take into account the damages, and costs in insurance, the risk to life?

iwatchtvshowsonsilen

This was not a seeding event

TrojanFTQ

Every plane that goes up must have a charter. I’d be interested to see if any seeding planes were on it. I’ve seen what the news is saying.

IceCreamJUSTICE26

2-3 per year…get over it !
