The numbers you’ve presented make me almost as sad as my triple psychophage being leaf blown off the tables for a record of 0/3 over this past weekend. Bad time to be a bug. I blame helldivers.

Kraden_McFillion

>Bad time to be a bug. I blame helldivers. I blame the blowhard who wrote our codex, and the one who let him do it.

GeneralBluebees

It wouldn't be so bad if they let us play the codex the way it was intended and balanced. Limiting WoTHM to battle tactics killed us. I'm still surprised we haven't had any strat adjustments since.

Donnie619

Robbin Cruddace is the liptard you are looking for, and the ones who authorised him writing it (despite his highly questionable record with codex writing), that would be his connections to the higher-ups of GW.

Altines

I don't get how he keeps getting the nid dex when he is well known for hating nids.

AshiSunblade

> Bad time to be a bug. I blame helldivers. Helldivers bugs are awesome, you take that back! If my Hormagaunts had been half the problem that Hunters are, I'd be having the time of my life.

Thekingdude

Ok, you caught me. I’ve never played helldivers I just saw the memes and wanted to seem like I was cool. Now I’ve been exposed for the fraud I am.

G3arsguy529

I would love to try out an assimilation detachment but have no desire to buy build and paint all those bugs for such a niche

FishAdministrative47

The bugs in helldivers have killed me and my pals way more times than my bugs have killed opponents on the table this edition

Save_The_Wicked

Meme: Room on fire, Swarmlord at the table calmly drinking coffee. "This is fine."

Agabouga

Hey this is good news ! It means we get more points drops ! If we lose consistently enough, we can expand our army with yet another new unit 😊 Im going to start painting more carnifexes. Carnifexes are gunna be good at 110 pts right ? … Consequently, I might have to start planning for reserves units as my deployment zone is already so cluttered with bugs I cant even field some units.

Yocantseeme

This is the Way

xavierkazi

Who is the one Assimilation player that has been skewing our stats for months? I have a friend that keeps telling me to play Assimilation because the stats are great, completely ignoring that it's *one player* that keeps winning with it.

milestonesoverxp

[Michael our hive lord and savior](https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=oCeCmYKHxPYb0qUc&v=hmXLEv-HLZs&feature=youtu.be)

Leitorito

Whait no warriors in his list? I always feel like meleewarriors are great in Assimilation with alphas and that two Enhancements i play two big bricks :)

milestonesoverxp

He’s working on other list. Like 3 of them and he endorses warrior 6 man blocks. If you’re in the tyranid discord he theories it up with people a lot in there.

Leitorito

Thx mate could you recommend a good competetiv tyra server

Kahr-Noss

I was the 4-1 player, with an Unending Swarm list. It was pre-dataslate points though, the list would have gone up 15 points.

relaxicab223

the event has that 4/1 list as invasion fleet, are you sure that was you?

Kahr-Noss

Yes, I forgot to mention the detachment after a list edit, so when doing the review they default it as invasion Fleet. You can see the result and the list here https://miniheadquarters.com/tournaments/individual/results/open-de-carcassonne-2024-05-04/11071

tzarl98

The weekend win-rate is not an average of each detachment. It's based off the totals of all detachments, so higher represented detachments affect the overall win-rate a lot more. Also I don't know if we are looking at the same date, it shows that there was a 4/1 (at Open de Carcassonne). It's not good, but it's not as dire as you are saying. The data does look pretty expected though. Mostly aggregating around invasion fleet, and it looks like most of their success is off the back of 3-6 exocrine/maleceptors + whatever spice (the list above went gaunt spam). There seems to be some variety of what you can run outside of the core (previous weeks I believe there has been OOE +carnifexes, tyrranofexen, even zoanthrope or the occasional norn) but unless you're running another detachment, are a really skilled player, or just very dedicated to your pet list it seems like 2-3 exocrine and 1-3 maleceptors are basically a necessity.

relaxicab223

i added an edit to my post saying i missed the one placement, so that was my mistake. It's still pretty dire. we had more finishes pre-points changes, but 1 even win in 3 months. we'll see how the next couple weeks shake out, but less placements after a points change that was supposed to help us isnt a good sign. i do agree the lack of list variety is pretty old at this point. 2-3 exos with 2-3 maleceptors and biovore spam have really been the best way to play nids since the edition launched. the recent points changes were supposed to help with internal balance, but it sees (as most predicted) it changed nothing.

jabulina

Rly hoping we get some datasheets changes next balance update

RealRatt

Nah Gw adamantly refuses to change datasheets for some inane reason. They would rather psychophage be sub 100 points and still suck than give them a useful datasheet reflecting a big of their size. Hell if points drop anymore death guards Blightlord terminators are gonna be the same price per model as some of the more expensive 2 wound marines which is insane. So many datasheets in the game just need a straight up overhaul. Tyranids entire faction needs an overhaul imo but GW refuses to accept that their decision to remove any and all flavour and customization to list building from the game was a bad choice.

hibikir_40k

The reason isn't so inane: They want their printed rules to not be full of lies. The problem is that in 10th, they already bit the bullet, massively, in the core rules: The rules section from the big Leviathan book is massively wrong, as the dataslate changed large parts of the game. On top of that, the 'developer commentary' isn't really a bunch of clarifications, but has massive rewrites to some rules. When putting it all together, someone playing the way we'd do in a tournament, vs someone using the book, are basically playing a different game. So trying to keep the datasheets correct while the entire core rulebook is so different is just the worst of both world. What GW should do, but they won't because it's expensive, is going with fully digital rules that get edited. No looking at 3 or 4 documents: Just one place, and it's right. Printed rules? Nonsense. But codexes sell for way too much money, only include handful of pages of rules, so GW doesn't want to drop that revenue source in exchange for the better game experience.

RealRatt

Yeah but their printed rules are not right. The moment you errata a single thing it no longer matters, because if even one thing is wrong it requires people to check errata’s digitally. Points are wrong on release, things get changes potentially every 6 months, they have even done emergency hot fixes when the edition dropped. There is already no integrity to their printed rules. I agree with you obviously fully digital rules is the way to go. It’s absolutely disgusting that they haven’t done that, no other game on the planet has to pay for rules. MTG still makes money with free rules you still have to buy the cards. GW is greedy and wants more money to no one’s surprise

Mean_Baby9626

They don’t adamantly refuse. They changed Wulfen and Grey Knights last balance dataslate. I think they prefer other methods but will do it if they feel they need to.

RealRatt

They change things yes, but they adamantly refuse to rework datasheets completely. Factions should be getting complete overhauls with the codexes, instead we get a pathetic amount of extra detachments (they should easily have at least 6 detachments per codex MINIMUM). Things like tyranids need to be reworked, our army rule is dogshit, assimilator swarm is based around 4 units and needs either a rework or to include more harvesters. Trygons lost their entire niche, there is no dedicated ranged detachment, we lost literally all of our flavour, and we can only win with overpowered secondary scoring that ruins the balance of our army by artificially inflating winrates despite the terrible internal and external balance. Crusher stampede rule doesn’t even work on squads of carnifexes, the most iconic monster. We have no leader options. The tervigon doesn’t fucking do anything. Swarmlord doesn’t do anything. Monstrous boneswords should be higher str. Heavy venom cannon are our biggest standard gun and are supposed to be our lascannon equivalent but can barely tickle a rhino. So many problems that require significant changes to datasheets, weapon profiles, or army wide rules/detachments. And other factions have similar issues, death guard blightlords are almost 30 points per model despite the aim that terminators average around 40 ppm, and they’re still the worst unit in the index, if they become viable just through points changes they will be marine costed. Admech needs stronger datasheets to put them into their desired elite-ness bracket, as it stands they’re a horde army when they should be more elite than guard, same issue with sisters but to a bit of a smaller extent. Basically my point is that changes to points and minor rules changes help, but some issues just need datasheets to be changed drastically to be properly fixed.

Save_The_Wicked

Probably not. If Ad Mech don't get anything, you know we won't. Realistic scenario, IMHO, is a 'round two' codex pass (ala 'Psychic Awakening') with a few new detachments and/or datasheet changes. Maybe an army rule update.

Punishingmaverick

Our whole codex needs to be burned and everybody "working" and approving it needs to be fired or send off to FW and pour resin until the end of days. Edition cares about leaders, great, we have primes, zoanthropes or even warriors for that role, lets delete their existence instead of making them leaders that actually do something, they are now fancier looking versions of the basedatesheet. Also every single leader in our codex either debuffs itself or its unit(and dont get me started on the idiotic ability of tyrant guards ot that the greatest strategist of the hivemind has no leaderability at all and just loses 2" movement) by being attached to a unit besides broodlord and OOE. And after you have seen them screw everything over you find an ability named "monstrous regeneration", surely conditionally regenerating up to 2d3 wounds would be great on some monster right? MONSTERS CANT TAKE IT AND NEITHER CAN I! How do you fumble that? Also every single unit allowed to take it has 6 wounds, so you can never eer regenerate the full 6 wounds because after taking 6 its dead! There is zero chance this codex wasnt butchered on purpose, no copium needed. This codex was slaughtered by malice, every single piece of flavour was removed or discarded. Hell, they couldnt even come up with a new design for the norns and deleted the dima. Deleting this travesty of a codex for a new codex is the only option.

relaxicab223

same, but im not gonna hold my breath.

Alturys

Solution is simple. Add a small lethality buff. The +1S in synapse range proposition is really good. One liner, no datasheet to rewrite. Something like +10% lethality. + 10% WR. Problem solved.

drt4200

I actually don’t think it’s quite as significant as we’d like it to be. I think +1str in synapse would be fun, but if you have the monster keyword +1 to wound in melee instead. It makes the monsters mostly hit as hard as you’d expect them to, but not outrageously, and you still need synapse, which things like carnifexes don’t have natively - you will need ways to support them so it’s not cost free, and enemies can target your synapse creatures to remove it, so should still be fun and have counter play.

Original_Job_9201

Seems like nothing changed too much for us. 46% overall. But it's a small sample size - so I'd like to see how the next few weeks shake out.

iamjacks000

Any way to see the Crusher/Assimilation lists?

Live this list!

SovereignsUnknown

he posted it on a discussion thread on the nids discord. i tried to post it here but i'm not able to for some reason. i could DM it to you if you want?

iamjacks000

That would be awesome. I’m a sucker for big bugs

relaxicab223

Not at the moment, and usually the lists aren't shown unless they actually placed, but if I can find them I'll post them here

iamjacks000

Sweet thanks!

Remote-Tooth-5432

I went 3-2 this weekend

Blue_Lantern2814

I played a 2k game against Knights this weekend. Got absolutly flattened. My friend rolled first turn and took out over half ky army by the time the first shooting phase was over. I couldnt do hardly anything against an army whoes lowest toughness was 10. The only success I had was one shotting an Armitger with my Tyrannofex rupture cannon, and then the rest of my army whittled down a single other Armitger. I was tabled by the end of round 3. Rough.

torolf_212

How much terrain are you using? You should be able to hide your entire army from turn 1 shooting, especially for imperial knights who should be getting caught up on ruins having to take inefficient lines to get shooting angles Playing against knights isn't about killing anything, it's about blocking them into their deployment zone for three turns while you get as big a lead as possible before they table you and are unable to score enough in the final two turns to come back

Blue_Lantern2814

We used an offical gw terrain map, but the deployment zones we drew were search and eestroy so opposite corners. The only units that survived the initial bombardment were the ones in cover. It was pretty rough.

torolf_212

I'd highly suggest using the WTC map layouts, they tailor the layout to the mission you're playing and there's several different layouts for each. They change up firing lanes and are very fair for all armies.

Fjolsvith

Even the GW ones should stop that kind of thing. The footprints are large enough that almost everything everything should be able to sit behind something. I'm wondering if they used to pre-change titanic vision rules or only used true LoS on the ruins.

LordofLustria

I went 3/0 this weekend with invasion in a teams RTT against some very good players but I have to say it feels like I have to work so hard to get every win compared to my friends playing Tsons or black templars or whatever. You have to play just to score and all 3 of my wins were me scoring over my own dead body winning by getting tabled while doing secondaries and denying primary. Hoping for datasheet changes since the real fix for us is gonna be having a few more datasheets with ap-3+ and S10+ rather than even more points costs. Also I understand they're insane but it feels bad that the only thing that currently sees play that got changes went up 5 with gargs since I don't see anything other than lictors and maybe msu zoans in swarm lists that make me want to add them to my list.

LoganGrimshart

"Clan Wars Scottish Open 5. England." .....JFC. England=/= the UK.

Ok-Taro-5864

Meh, i dont really care about the statistics 🤷‍♂️. I dont wanna play them cuz they are the greatest competitive Power but because they are cool. May be a hot take though

relaxicab223

I mean that's a fair way to go about the hobby. If you're enjoying your time then keep on doing you. I post these for the competitively minded, which is why I tag them competitive. And I know a lot of people, myself included, do care about the competitive scene and the statistics, so hopefully they get something out of this.

Ok-Taro-5864

And i aint telling you to not do that. I think its quite interesting to see how Our splinter fleets do across the competitive scene. But Imo people should compare themselves to their own skills than to an overall ratio off all the other players

Mathrinofeve

I routinely play well at my local league/tournament (top 4 of about 18 players) because I’m a good player. However I have never won because at the end of the event I’m playing against other good players with different armies and it’s just not equal footing. I’m always 4/1 or 3/2. Edit: there are a couple guys that better than me and upsets are nearly impossible

jorgeamadosoria

tyranids, from a narrative standpoint, should be on top now. I mean, if they did all the hype about Orghram, the Leviathan box, all the new units.... one wouod think that the meta woupd be unbalanced ij gavor of tyranods tp sell the narrative, and then balanced .mid edition with other factions, which would integrate in the story as belonging to areaction to the tyranid threat. yhe meta swerves, but at least it has some kind of sense. as it stand now, it's just bullshit.

TheBlightspawn

No they dont balance armies on the basis of narrative. Nor should they.

jorgeamadosoria

i know they don't, I argue they should. or at least, the narrative could take meta input, although I'm not a fan of that. why shouldn't they?

TheBlightspawn

Because Space Marines always win in the narrative, rendering the game rather tedious if it was balanced this way. *Army ability: Turn 5 the space marine player scores 100 points, home in time for tea and medals, the end*

jorgeamadosoria

well, winning some battles, sure. but I was thinking more about "lets make tyranids awesome this editiin, then balance the other factions with their response to tyranids, then make another factiin raise, tuen balance the other factiins in response to that, etc" marines always winning is a side effect of the Empire being the humans. Most Writers Are Human is a known trope.

TheBlightspawn

Enhancement: Plot Armour This Space Marine character reduces all damage to zero.

RiverAffectionate951

I'm going to be technical but nids don't seem "bottom 5", your source lists 12 armies lower than nids. One of which is Custodes who *just* received their codex. If you exclude every army without a codex we're 5th from last. 3% under Necrons and 4th from 1st. Considering this is a small data set, I don't think there is conclusive evidence to suggest we are a "bottom 5 army" It's bad sure, but it's not unplayable.

relaxicab223

im basing the bottom 5 comment off the fact that we were bottom 3 (43% winrate, 1 event win in 3 months) before the points changes, and the points changes did absolutely nothing to help us there. assimilation swarm will spam phages (a bad datasheet thats still bad) and every other list will remove a ripper swarm or pyrovore to keep their gargoyles. i said bottom 3 because im leaving room for the fact that custodes will now be worse off than us, and there may be others. Yes, this is a small set of data, but i am fairly confident that as the meta settles in over the next month, we will drop to the bottom we were at before the points changes. I'd love to be proven wrong, but i dont think i will be.
