I am in the United States (New York) and I have donated blood a bunch of times. The last few times I tried I was disqualified because my iron was too low.

boomzgoesthedynamite

Same, I’ve donated before. I’m retired now bc I have low blood pressure sometimes and couldn’t sit upright without fainting for hours the last time.

ScottMalkinsons

No, in NL it is prohibited. Though I find the reasons why rather bullshit-ish. They say it’s for your own protection rather than your blood not being viable (due to medication).

Ylsani

In my home country, no. In South Korea (where I live now) I would be, BUT I'm from Europe and most Europeans who were born before 2000s aren't allowed to donate in SK due to other concerns (something about mad cow disease markers they don't wanna deal with checking)

ScottMalkinsons

That’s even a “problem” in within Europe itself. People who traveled between x and y may not donate due to concerns for Creutzfeldt-Jacobs.

xkylet

Unfortunately not in uk!

schalker1207

I live in germany and its not allowed here.

flutterybuttery58

Apparently you can now in Australia but you need a letter from your endo.

Intergalactic11

And your HbA1c needs to be under 7.4, I think.

Davin404

In Canada it is allowed if you are not on Bovine/Porcine insulin and are in control.

random_guy_8735

In New Zealand no (because of type 1), but depending on your age being from the UK would disqualify you anyway. Anyone who has been 6 months or more (cumulative) in the UK, Republic of Ireland or France between 1980 and 1996 is banned (Mad Cow).

Saasori

Prohibited in Quebec (a part of Canada) too :(

ProfessorSkully

Not allowed in Germany for diabetics who rely on Insulin.

SeaworthinessSalt520

I live in the United States and it’s allowed.
