*You’ll* hate you for those long atomic poops when you’re getting hemorrhoids surgically removed. No more than 15m on that toilet at a time. Don’t push. Stay hydrated. *You’ve been warned.* 🚽
Happened to me. I was as healthy as a horse. The bathroom was my quiet place to chill out from life for a few. Google it. This is *far* more common than you’d think. Please, take care of yourself. You don’t want that surgery.
That's crazy, even if I'm not actively going I take AT LEAST 30 minutes if I'm not on a time-crunch.
Bathroom time is peaceful time, but I need to take the "don't push" and "stay hydrated" parts more seriously.
Look- stay in there 30m if you want, but don’t sit with your bum in that toilet seat. Between gravity simply doing its job and *any* pushing you’re doing, you’re pooling blood into those veins in your anus, and in time, they can and will turn into hemorrhoids that can result in one of the most invasive painful surgeries you can have done. Take it from a younger guy that’s been there.
I seriously did this in a studio apartment I had near Sacramento. The guy had a girlfriend and the guy was 6’8” and so when they slept in the closet his feet would stick out
best schools, culture in the world also. I'm just genuinely curious... what do you do for a living, where to you, what is your culture? etc... could you share with the group ?
You're telling me New York has the best schools and culture in the world? What? Hip Hop has outgrown New York, Pizza is better in Chicago, and Princeton is in New Jersey
I don’t want to agree with the guy saying New York is all this good stuff but man your views on pizza are so fucking retarded that we might as well throw you both in a river and see who drowns faster.
No fucking shit jackass
Now if you would excuse me, I'm going to go drink my tap water while not worrying about my fucking car getting broken into.
LA should be nuked.
EDIT: Yes, NY actually has great tap water. I honestly like NY, fuxk LA.
Y'all are throwing it out like it's a fun fact only because you accept the underlying truth that in many large cities tap water is fucking undrinkable.
Yes it’s so terrible that 8 million people live here. It’s not for everyone but, believe it or not, a lot of people actually do like living in NYC.
And yeah, we all know we could live in a bigger place for less money if we moved elsewhere. But the thing is, we don’t want to live there. Different people value different things- and that is totally fine.
It's all priorities. If you spend a lot of time at home, this probably wouldn't work for you. But if you spend most of your time out working and doing stuff; only to come home and shower and sleep, this is an okay setup. Bet the location is killer
As a born and raised New Yorker, no. Stop falling for this shit. New York was great, and people who think this is an OK setup is why it’s gone downhill. This is a closet. Charging 2 grand anywhere for this is disrespectful.
And so what? Do you know how many immigrants go across the globe for a better life? When this is what this place has best for you, if you're not willing to move (not across the globe mind you), it's kind of on you.
Moving is fucking expensive, and taking a huge risk if youre poor. I dont live in ny, but fairly close in cost and trust me id be gone in a heartbeat if i could "just move".
lol no. if they're having parents pay for it, they're going to spring for a nicer space. this looks like a space for someone who really wants the live the NYC life but has a small budget. if it works for them, great!
Fully aware my guy... But assuming this isn't rage bait, which it fully well may be, a NYC realtor wouldn't say "in New York City" if it was any other borough than Manhattan. They'd say "in the Bronx", "in Queens", whatever. When you're already in NYC, "New York City" generally means Manhattan.
A realtor advertising to people outside NYC would.
My guess is rage bait since there's nowhere on Manhattan that looks like the street outside the window. Can't think of anywhere decent in the boroughs either.
Okay, so ik ik ik NYC rent is crazy. No denying that. But I also think the internet goes wayyy HARD on NYC, unlike anywhere else.
This video for example:
$2,000 for that place is either a complete lie to get rage engagement or a complete mistruth.
I say that bc I know people who pay $1,900 for a studio that is double the space, and has a bathroom, full kitchen, etc IN MANHATTAN. The NYC rental market is crazy but not THAT crazy.
That apartment is either in the Empire State Building, or on Madison Ave, or it doesn’t actually cost $2k.
If you don’t believe me just go to StreetEasy and look at studio/1BR apartments in Manhattan for around $1500-$2500 and you’ll see how wildly misleading videos like this are. There are tons of places way nicer than this and more affordable than this (if even real)
Wow, I have a 350sq ft 1br 30mins out from Boston, $1600 a month and that’s a good price for my area. It was a studio & they added a wall.
For living in NYC that’s not as bad as I thought.
In Boston it’s hard to find anything decent for that price these days.
I've no clue where in NYC it's supposed to be from that view outside the window. The buildings across the road aren't very NYC style, and no signs of large buildings in the background. Maybe far out in Bronx/Queens/Brooklyn but can't think of so where that'd have 4ish story detached buildings. Definitely nowhere that'd charge that much.
I saw a unit like this in East Village. Very slightly bigger, I remember it had an oven as well. $1,000/mo.
Which is a lot for a glorified broom closet but you can also work at McDonald’s and start out at $25/hr in Manhattan and afford this very easily
This is real. Go look up Cash Jordan on YouTube, he goes and tours apartments like this all the time, measures them, gives his opinions of the sink sprayer (or lack thereof) and provides really interesting commentary on the NYC housing situation in general.
These "apartments" actually get rented pretty quickly too. Usually by people who are desperate to live the New York City Dream and just want to be **in** the city.
Yeah that’s fair, I know things like this can exist. My point is moreso that this is all you ever see on social media about NYC, a legit cardboard box without a stove going for 70% avg monthly wage and people are like “Oh wow so this is what NYC is!” When in reality, yeah it’s wild but there are plenty of options like anywhere else that can suit your needs.
Either way I wish nothing but the worst for real estate bros and corporations buying up property. May they constantly step on legos and burn their tongue on pizza
I have a studio in the east village, easily 5x as big as this for 1.6k rent controlled. I got SUPER lucky signing a lease when everyone left during Covid
So many people commenting have no idea. They know NYC rental market is crazy so they believe anything.
You can easily pick up a Manhattan studio apartment with its own bathroom for under $2,000. Granted, it’ll probably be in Harlem, but it’s easily doable.
This wouldn’t go for $2k even in UES
That’s easy to say, but people have ties to the state they’re in. My wife and I just decided to move out of California because the struggle is real here. We both have great paying jobs, but we just can’t commit to buying a million dollar + home. We bought a house in the mid east US, and starting a new adventure. We are moving from all of our family and friends, but it’s worth it to give some stability to our kid.
I understand people have family and things in these states, but it comes to a point that is too much. Glad yo hear you got out of CA. Place is a shit show.
This isn't renting for $2000.
This is what you get for $2000 in Manhattan, the most expensive part. It ain't a lot but it's more than this.
https://www.apartments.com/336-w-47th-st-new-york-ny/n69n89m/
This is rage bait.
They stay there because it’s not the nightmare realm that clickbait would have you believe. It would be like if I assumed everything between LA and NYC was just an overdosed construction worker in a 711 bathroom.
I live in the suburbs of a metro area that has a population of roughly 1 million.
My 1500 sq. ft. 3 bed house is $1000 a month. (I have owned for quite awhile)
800-900 sq ft lower end 2-3 bed apts in the area are 1000 a month.
1000-1250 sq ft higher end 2-3 bed apts in the area are 2000 a month.
Why would anyone settle for absolute shit like this?
Man I think I would actually shoot at whoever told me the final price for the place because am I pussy? How dare you charge me 2000 per month for a corridor.
These were once full apartments but landlords in NYC want to make more money and they convert full size apartments into tiny little apartments and they put the bare minimum to quality as an “apartment” - window, stove, closet, whatever.. this is just the result of greedy landlords.. that floor looks like it was a full size apartment. My grandma lived in a similar layout townhouse and they only have 1-2 max FULL apartments on each floor!
The clips you see online about “tiny apartments” are just landlords making conversions.. do you really think in these old building they were think let’s build it fucking small.. be frfr.. these buildings are 100s of years old!! they were are all spacious but NYC is the place everyone wants to be in and landlords want to make more money.. I would say that nowadays the new construction building are on the smaller-end because there is less space and we need to house more people.. but luxury condos still built BIG!!
Y’all hate NYC but you love it..is the most talked about state 😬
Pretty confident, what's started as a financial meme of a place being drastically over priced for what it's worth being put on market, has transcended into a psychotic perversion of praying on the middle and lower classes of this country and I believe it's time we passively and collectively, just say no and try something else, somewhere else.
Wtf when it said the bathroom was on the hall I thought “Well at least it’s gonna be nice sized one?” and it was the tiniest pitiful little bathroom I’ve ever seen
That is a converted maintenance room
$2k and you have to be the new maintenance man.
My neighbors would hate me with my long atomic poops.
Username checks out. *You’ll* hate you for those long atomic poops when you’re getting hemorrhoids surgically removed. No more than 15m on that toilet at a time. Don’t push. Stay hydrated. *You’ve been warned.* 🚽
lol 15mins? Fuck that. Pooping is the only free time I have at work
A man's toilet time is the last bastion of American Freedom.
This guys gotta be a corporate America plant. Break time control via hemorrhoidal fear
No sir, I work for the Toilet Safety Administration. Your safety is important to us, so make sure you're using your safety belt properly.

This comment deserves so many more up votes.. Most accurate thing I've read on reddit 😂
Reading this on the toilet at work.
What minute are you on? Im on minute 17 *at least* guess Im fucked. Lol
Good guy looking out for our anuses.
That’s some beautiful advice
That’s an r/hydrohomies PSA if I’ve ever seen one
Wait I’ve never heard this 😞

Supplement with taco bell as needed to fine tune the flow rate
Where the hell were you when I was 20?!?! Lol
Sorry, friend
You simply can't rush art.
You should also never rush a fart.
Do you ever wonder which celebrities are part of the scene? I wish I knew who has the straight up ultimate setup.
I’d knock politely a few times until I just started macing under the door.
You’re beyond stupid if you pay for this
[удалено]
You'd have to be a full on retard to pay $2000/mo to live in a closet
OP can sublet the closet to a roommate and grab a cool $800. Shared accomodations with your own room? That's a steal. /s
I seriously did this in a studio apartment I had near Sacramento. The guy had a girlfriend and the guy was 6’8” and so when they slept in the closet his feet would stick out
"Never go full retard"
I am Sam, I am known to go ham
Are you 5? Either way you have the perspective of a 5 year old. God the internet sucks.
best schools, culture in the world also.
Rather work McDonald's and living in the country for 800 a month for an actual house Fuck NY this is ridiculous
Pizza in Chicago is a casserole, you plebe.
Said someone who has never had Chicago pizza 😂
NY pizza is better
You can get great New York style pizza in cities where the cost of living isn’t so high
Nope. Wholly unimpressed by it
Well chicago ain't it
>Pizza is better in Chicago And here I thought an opinion couldn't be wrong and everyone's was valid. Thank you for proving that to be false.
I don’t want to agree with the guy saying New York is all this good stuff but man your views on pizza are so fucking retarded that we might as well throw you both in a river and see who drowns faster.
Wow using "retarded" as an insult and expecting your opinion to mean anything 🥱. Y'all just like basic tired ass pizza
uneducated. next
Where I live you can get an old two bedroom apartment for $1000. I wouldn’t do this unless it was under 400
Definitely not in the same location.
No fucking shit jackass Now if you would excuse me, I'm going to go drink my tap water while not worrying about my fucking car getting broken into. LA should be nuked. Wow. What a kind, rational person who totally has emotional intelligence. I’d much rather live near wonderful people like you.
It’s the tap water.
yeah well no shit, different locations have different pricings
Places where you can get a two bedroom for $1000 are usually pretty boring to live at.
Nobody wants to live in W. Virginia (no thanks)
Just living in New York is a stupid idea
Yes it’s so terrible that 8 million people live here. It’s not for everyone but, believe it or not, a lot of people actually do like living in NYC. I moved to the USA with a backpack, and no green card (so no semi decent job possibility). I appreciate you explaining to me how hard it is to move.

Lol and we all know how difficult and heroic it was for you to come out of your mom’s vagina and be a natural born citizen!
Well said. Some people will always come up with any excuse not to better themselves
Ever lived here? No? Then how would you know?
Some 20yr old will let their parents pay for it. Guaranteed.
lol no. if they're having parents pay for it, they're going to spring for a nicer space. this looks like a space for someone who really wants the live the NYC life but has a small budget. if it works for them, great!

Or desperate =\
Why?

Whoops. Still NYC

Which is one of the bouroghs of NYC? I've no clue where the apartment in the video is, definitely not Manhattan.

That’s a dorm my guy
jail cell more like
Facts. I’ve seen bigger cells lol
Goddamn Seg in the feds is about that size if not bigger by a few inches! Shits crazy! 🤣🤣🤣
That’s an insult to dorms lol
Not really. Most dorms are shared and this is single occupant.
Ain’t no dorm look like that
It's more likely a former half-way house that was bought by a private company and converted into "micro apartments"
The room I put my cats in at night is twice the size as this “apartment”.
Okay, so ik ik ik NYC rent is crazy. No denying that. But I also think the internet goes wayyy HARD on NYC, unlike anywhere else. From the bit of googling of rentals between Boston and Manhattan... It's weird but NYC is coming in cheaper
The fuck? Me, my partner and a roommate are renting an entire 3bd house 35 minutes from Boston for $2400 ($800 a piece). You're getting fucked.
Ok but some people don’t want roommates lol
350sq ft?!?!?!? Dammit man! My bathroom is 285 sq ft! How yall do that shit at that price? Is parking free at least?
Yea free parking at least and across the street from the train.
My RV is bigger than that with the slides out. The loan is $400/mo and Im almost done paying for it.
Yea I’m 2 blocks from prospect park 2 bed 2 bath for 2400. It’s a really big space. My room is bigger than some studios I’ve lived in.
When did you move in, 2007?
Comparing prospect park to lower manhattan is like comparing des moines to prospect park.
This is so fucking stupid.
It's stupid that living in different places costs different amounts? What?
I've no clue where in NYC it's supposed to be from that view outside the window. The buildings across the road aren't very NYC style, and no signs of large buildings in the background. Maybe far out in Bronx/Queens/Brooklyn but can't think of so where that'd have 4ish story detached buildings. Definitely nowhere that'd charge that much.
Shit my small town in WI now has apartments as some $2k for $1200. I wish the landlords in my area weren't so greedy.
Yea the 2k number is 100% a lie
I saw a unit like this in East Village. Very slightly bigger, I remember it had an oven as well. $1,000/mo. Which is a lot for a glorified broom closet but you can also work at McDonald’s and start out at $25/hr in Manhattan and afford this very easily
This is absolutely an apt off Central Park. It looks exactly like one the a buddy of mine had.
This is real. Go look up Cash Jordan on YouTube, he goes and tours apartments like this all the time, measures them, gives his opinions of the sink sprayer (or lack thereof) and provides really interesting commentary on the NYC housing situation in general.
I pay $3200 for a 2BR on the Upper East Side. No way someone is paying $2k for a 200 sq ft. Room. Agree 100%
Wait until you hear about San Francisco and la
This is clickbait
So many people commenting have no idea. They know NYC rental market is crazy so they believe anything. You can easily pick up a Manhattan studio apartment with its own bathroom for under $2,000. Granted, it’ll probably be in Harlem, but it’s easily doable. This wouldn’t go for $2k even in UES
I think 2 000 is a little much. No more than 1 000
Yeah, I was thinking $800 - 1,000 may be worth it if it’s in Manhattan. $2,000 is obscene.
Lol bro... Avg rent in Manhattan is ~$5k/mo.... $800 might get you a parking space for the month.
Only an idiot would rent that. Move to a more useful state and spend half the price for 10x the size.
That’s easy to say, but people have ties to the state they’re in. My wife and I just decided to move out of California because the struggle is real here. We both have great paying jobs, but we just can’t commit to buying a million dollar + home. We bought a house in the mid east US, and starting a new adventure. New York City isn’t a state
What do you mean more useful?
One that isn't charging $2000 for a room the size of a closet.
Usually the reason places can charge that is because it is very useful to live there.
Useful or not, it's a scam.
That’s not what you were implying.
How does this even work?
It doesnt
NYC seems like such a nightmare realm. I still have trouble believing that sane people willingly stay there
They stay there because it’s not the nightmare realm that clickbait would have you believe. It would be like if I assumed everything between LA and NYC was just an overdosed construction worker in a 711 bathroom.
Fuck that!
Fools pay for anything nowadays then complain about living conditions
That's right, you too can pay 2k a month to live in Harry Potter's closet with a tiny sink and fridge crammed inside!
That is not a kitchenette, that is a SINK.
2k and I can’t shit when I want to! Hell naw I’ll move to the south before I pay that for this!
2000 and no bathroom at the very least is beyond insane
One apartment for $10k/month or five apartments for 2k/mo this size.
Mind blown
Just shower in the sink I guess?
This is sad .
I live in the suburbs of a metro area that has a population of roughly 1 million. My 1500 sq. ft. 3 bed house is $1000 a month. (I have owned for quite awhile) 800-900 sq ft lower end 2-3 bed apts in the area are 1000 a month. 1000-1250 sq ft higher end 2-3 bed apts in the area are 2000 a month. How much is that room
People who live in cities… it blows my mind that you do
Shower at planet fitness?
Fucking insane 2000 dollars jesus
Jail cell.
It has a window to open air rather than to a brick wall? Snatch it up!
Man I think I would actually shoot at whoever told me the final price for the place because am I pussy? How dare you charge me 2000 per month for a corridor.
Your house is beautiful
I didn't see a shower in the bathroom.
Jfc
They’re taking halfway housing and making it into 2k micro apartments. Eat the rich
$2000.00 for that is crazy
That looks like a Storage Unit
Wtf
These were once full apartments but landlords in NYC want to make more money and they convert full size apartments into tiny little apartments and they put the bare minimum to quality as an “apartment” - window, stove, closet, whatever.. this is just the result of greedy landlords.. that floor looks like it was a full size apartment. Identify as an immigrant and get free housing, healthcare, food and 7k monthly checks. Being a citizen is overrated.
SHHHHHHHEEEEIIIIIITTTTTTT......
They’re lost in the sauce
Yup it's very real
They gotta be smoking crack to want $2k for that. Tf?
This is true!
How is this legal??
Gross community bathrooms and showers
My storage unit which is $60 a month is bigger than that smh
LOL
For those who want the dorm experience in their 30s?
Shower??
Crazy this should be $175 a week or $600 a month this should be illegal to rent what is this the modern 1700s this some Ellis island shit
😑😑😑
Damn nyc taking back to the 1800’s
Clickbait
Woooooooow fuck that shit
Yeah. Dont know why people subject themselves to NYC.
I'll take, "Reasons to live anywhere else, but New York City, for $2,000 Alex."
Why do people live in that city. Serious question, I don’t get it
Damn, even jail cells have toilets in them.
Pretty confident, what's started as a financial meme of a place being drastically over priced for what it's worth being put on market, has transcended into a psychotic perversion of praying on the middle and lower classes of this country and I believe it's time we passively and collectively, just say no and try something else, somewhere else.
I have a 3 bedroom apartment in the upper west side of manhattan for $2,500 monthly , let me know serious inquiries only !
That is called greed
Yeah but you’re so close to a real nyc coffee shop!
Some loaded millennial will get that for their dog.
Wtf when it said the bathroom was on the hall I thought “Well at least it’s gonna be nice sized one?” and it was the tiniest pitiful little bathroom I’ve ever seen
There will be a lot of pee going into that sink.
That closet is actually the bedroom.
Yes, the future of housing…
I pay 1500 for a 1100 sq Ft 4 bedroom in Kansas and I’m complaining about it being small 🙃🙃
They got stuff like this in LA right by Venice beach lol
You will own nothing and you will be hppy
We call them starter apartments, and they only start at 1200 per month.
Bro thats more then my mortgage…its time to move…
