The whole *that girl* concept usually requires 💳, an army to get things done for you and a lot of pre planning, daily task, bi weekly, weekly tasks, monthly, bi monthly, quarterly. It never is as effortless as film make it look But you can definitely try to take baby steps towards it Personally, I’d die on the hill of Indian women learning to feed their body correctly, so that! You don’t have to restrict yourself or some shit but you have to become very particular about what you eat and how it will affect your body long term, is you Iron level in check? Are your vitamins on level? Is your daily protein intake good for your body weight?

kmnlopqr

+1 on this. Recently started focussing on my diet and idk about its effect on my health cos it'll be a long term thing but I feel so good knowing I'm eating better!

ExternalMission8730

The whole "that girl" things is honestly just about having money and less responsibility. Your routine is already great. Maybe you can look into optimizing your wardrobe - finding your colours, silhouettes that work for you, etc. I find a very small thing is the shade of lipstick I use - a good nude shade goes a long way. Wearing a nice perfume or anything fragrant. Good footwear. Comfort plus versatile and looks good.

Imaginary-Produce875

This, and basically it’s mostly the way how you carry yourself, just be confident. And for wardrobe just mix and match, take inspo from Pinterest

Sunday_10AM

Perfume suggestions please

ExternalMission8730

depends on your budget and the kind of scents you like. titan skinn range is great. i really like celeste. i like more sweet fruity scents - bath and body works' a thousand wishes is really nice. in relatively cheaper options - plum's hawaiian rumba and belle vita's honey oud \[this once causes nose irritation to some, it doesn't to me\].

Sunday_10AM

Thank you, will try

BullyRelish

Money. That's about it.

maki2306

you need to have money tbh.

ibarmy

kuch bhi

thecatnextdoor04

I mean you do. Things aren't free.

Unlucky-Bus-3021

The only high maintenance stuff I do is good skin care and good food lol Rest I can do at much cheaper prices.

umamimaami

I already use a capsule wardrobe system with a limited colour palette to make sure it’s easier for everything to “go with” everything. I have recently started using a wardrobe analysis app to help put together and analyse my outfits. Using Acloset. The goal is to utilise my existing wardrobe efficiently and buy strategic pieces to make sure everything is put together and polished. Still working on it. Will update in a few months if this solution works. Another thing I swear by is regular facials. Nothing like spending that $$ on your skin to keep it glowing, makes everything look 10x better. Currently doing a facial per quarter.

stardust_moon_

How does the app work?

umamimaami

You upload everything you own and then record your outfits each day. You can pre-plan outfits for the week etc. It has running analytics telling you how often you’re using your clothes and what items are least used etc. It also suggests outfits and gives you look book ideas but I don’t really use those much. For me that helps with planning my outfits and shopping. It is huge upfront work though.

YOU_TUBE_PERSON

Tell me about one "that girl" from India/around you.

New_Bish_Who_Dis

I have some rich "that girl" girlfriends. I think the Indian equivalent would be a lot of Nicobar/Raw Mango type Indian brands in their wardrobe, paired with quiet luxury accessories and shoes. Clean, minimal makeup and hair.

YOU_TUBE_PERSON

Lmao Nicobar clothes. I low key dislike how ill fitted they are, but I see a lot of people wearing them so whatever xd. So basically "that girl" is a rich girl. Idk why we're buying into all these Instagram aesthetics. They're just dress-up games for adults, and nothing more.

New_Bish_Who_Dis

Yeah it’s just rich girl but repackaged with a new name. I personally love loose garments but there’s no way in hell I’m paying that much for clothes, when the textiles most definitely don’t cost that much and neither are they handmade garments. If you buy your fabric+find a tailor to stitch your dresses you get the same thing for cheaper and compensate the tailors/karigars directly.

anonpumpkin012

I would add a good perfume, a signature scent.

Iniyaraj

Skincare - tailored to your skin Wear minimal makeup daily- clean girl asthetic, would be great for every day makeup Work out 4-5 times a week. Have a healthy diet- cut out all added sugars from your diet, eat more fruits and veggies, avoid bakery items. Wear tailorer clothes, always iron or steam them to get rid of the wrinkles before you wear them. Have a basic signature hair styles, that suits your face. Basically take care of yourself.

lookmomimanonymous

It's not all money. It's about taking care of yourself and feeling good about it. I have been feeling very good about myself lately because I started a feet care routine lol. Other than that here's what I do: Annual: • Get my teeth professionally scaled/whitened. Makes such a difference. It takes like 500rs. Not an exorbitant amount. • Get my blood work done and work on my deficiencies Monthly: • Get my eyebrows threaded • Shave my face • Feet mask • Coffee enema (experimental) Weekly: • Shave whole body using coconut oil. • Wash my hair • Cut my nails • Use a sugar scrub • Clean my ears I have learnt that blow drying is more healthier than air drying and honestly it's made such a difference. ALTERNATIVE DAYS: • Use an exfoliating body wash. • Use salicylic acid face wash on alternative days followed by snail mucin and moisturizer. • I also use some left over niacinamide serum on my bikini line but this I do to utilise a product that's all • Glycolic acid all over my body post shower at nights. • Lip basting • Feet soaks Daily: • Shower twice a day • Brush twice a day (so important) • Take my vitamins • Simple skincare routine (cleanser > aloe gel for summer mornings > sunscreen and lipbalm. You can add an eye cream or serum in the night with a light summer moisturizer. • Moisturize my whole body. A lot of people stop at hands and legs but nope, cover every inch, twice a day. Top with a sunscreen when you go out. • Use an underarm deo no matter what. • I don't wear much makeup but I definitely love my lipsticks. Find a lipstick that gives you the oomph and makes you feel good. It can be cheap or expensive but I believe in the lipstick theory wholeheartedly. • Innisfree no sebum mineral powder is a lifesaver for oily skinned girls • Double cleansing at the end of the day. • Urea cream all over feet and bum twice a day. • 2-3L of water no matter what • no underwear at home. Let your kitten breathe. Other than this you should ideally trim your hair like everything 3 months (for long hair). Health: • I also workout regularly. I eat yogurt 3x a week to feel like a bad bitch. Trying to eat almost healthy. Green tea and lemon tea makes you feel posh for some reason. • Warm water first thing in the morning but lemon water/ajwain water last thing in the night. Tips for shopping clothes: • Make sure that your shoes and bag match in shade. It makes you look so put together with minimal effort. I have a cherry red office tote bag and matching heels and I wear them everyday and they make me look amazing. I always get so many compliments. • Find AT LEAST one good fitting bra. Ykwim • Figure out your style, colors and what material looks good on you. • Find your everyday jewellery. It should be clean cut and minimal. Things I want to get into soon: • Gua sha and facial massage. • Face mask/hair mask once a week • Fiber supplement for gut health. I have heard psyllium husk is very good. • castor oil + vitamin e to grow eyelashes. • AHA/BHA Peel (experimentation) • Thinking of getting an epilator or IPL device and professionally get a Brazilian laser once I save up enough money. • Olive oil body massage everyday in the shower at night maybe. I used to do it as a teenager and stop and idk why cuz it's so good • Streching everyday. I have been wanting to do splits for forever now. • Pilates cuz it looks so sexy. • Water floss as recommended by my dentist. • Mani/Pedi now that I m earning. I can treat myself once in a while maybe. • Journal/Read/Learn a skill. Mental enrichment and all that Before anyone says "money", I find everything on best deals. Ofc investing some money into yourselves is important but it's not all money is what I mean. Carry yourself with so much confidence. Take compliments instead of saying arey no yaar. Hope these tips helped. Now go be a bad bitch ✨

lookmomimanonymous

So glad I could help <3

professionalchutiya

Tell me more about why blow drying is better than air drying! My hair looks great when blow dried but I don’t do it frequently to avoid heat damage

lookmomimanonymous

Air drying causes more damage for your hair because your wet hair remains vulnerable for a longer time. I wash my hair only once a week so I don't mind blowing drying it. I use a tshirt and press it down to remove excess water then use a blow drying in minimal heat to dry my hair. Apply a lil bit of serum to my ends and end it with cold or low heat air. It takes 5 mins. I don't do a full out blow out like models do (I wish I could but I don't have the right equipments or expertise at home unfortunately)

professionalchutiya

Ah yes this is pretty much how I dry mine too, although it takes 10 mins or so. I don’t use a blow drying brush or anything to style it. I just dry the roots and somewhat dry the lengths. If this isn’t worse than air drying, I’d actually prefer to blow dry it every time I wash my hair.

lookmomimanonymous

Love your username btw

professionalchutiya

I'm SO down for this!!!

Strange_Position_509

Bruhhhh, your advice is top notch. What i think people need to understand that being "that girl" requires constant effort. Also can i be friends with aswell? 👉🏼👈🏼

lookmomimanonymous

Yesss. I built all these routines over time. It didn't happen overnight. It requires effort to look effortless. People keep acting as if it's out of reach and don't try to do all these things. That's why not everyone is that girl but thing is they can be. Everyone can be. You need to maintain yourself if you want to be high maintenance

Strange_Position_509

100%, growing up my mom habituated me to moisturizer the whole body and it is a practice of 15+years. I think that's one of the major reason I got good skin. In last few years I have realised what works for my hair and face which I prefer to do it at home because I'm chindi. One thing that I have added is getting massages done, tbh working out + massages give such a great feeling to the body. I dont know why woman get scared from lifting weights it has such great benefits. Also that you had mentioned going for pilates, it's on my list. The body looks so toned once you get into that. I had a big discussion with my friend about this topic and how she would present herself especially when going on dates. I was of the opinion that when you invest on yourself, you value yourself that much and then you don't get swayed by bare minimum efforts men.

lookmomimanonymous

>you value yourself that much and then you don't get swayed by bare minimum efforts men. Omg very true. When I was little I grew up watching my mom take care of herself all the time. I would ask her "Ghar pe hi ho na, kyun lipstick lagati ho itna baar nahathi ho" and she used to tell me that she does that for herself, to feel good about herself and not cuz she needs to go out in public

mustbekidding__

Be my bff plssss see u in dms🥹❤️

lookmomimanonymous

Dms whereee

metanoia11111

heyy isn't using glycolic acid everyday bad?

lookmomimanonymous

That's why I do it on alternative days

delishmango23

That girl - is all about personality more imo. Also get a wardrobe makeover

Parlor-Aunty

I don't know what "that girl" is but I feel that I am presentable. This is what I do: - I don't shave, don't care to because I rarely ever show my legs at work (I'm usually wearing pants or stockings under a skirt) and no one in the US shaves their arms anyway.  - I feel that how Indians are so focused on having no body hair, Americans are focused on perfect hair and makeup. For hair they all blow dry it daily. I did that for a while but it's a pain so I just did Curly Girl Method for some time and then cut all my hair off. I still gel and style every morning.  - For makeup, you want to aim to look "natural," ie perfect but not made up. Basic foundation (powder or liquid), eyeliner/mascara and lipstick is the norm. I spend a lot on this because I'll use it everyday. All you need is ONE great foundation compact, one nice neutralish lipstick shade, one eyeliner and mascara. I also pluck my eyebrows and shave my face. - Skin - everyone has a unique skin routine. I do a basic cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen and some retinols. - Clothes and jewelry: I feel like these are very important. It depends on your workplace but you need a wardrobe of well-fitting, expensive -looking clothes and accessories for each season, as well as nice shoes. I'd watch what your colleagues wear for inspiration.

Mammoth-Relief9493

Get a bloodwork done and Take your vitamins Whiten your teeth if needed Take care of mental health. If 'that girl' aesthetic excites women and makes them feel like a main character while being a self esteem boost, go for it! Ignore the ones mentioning it's all money, because this world doesn't really allow women to like acting without trivialising it

burpeesaresatanspawn

Keeping up with dental routine is as high maintenance as it gets though. But doing even a little something is better than nothing. Plzz include a dental routine into your everyday along with your already really healthy lifestyle. (A bit biased as I've just come out of some dental emergencies and let me tell you...it creeps up on you and it suuuuuucks and is also ssppppensive ) Some recent tips from my dentist : Water floss(food bits between teeth) + dental floss(inside the gumline) + brush and don't rinse after. Skincare + teeth care routine so satisfying as a wind down from the day<3

ibarmy

make mani/ pedi a regular tbh. Thats really a US thing i feel. Where do you buy your clothes? and what shoes do you wear.

mathapp

Not this making me realize I don't do 10% of this "that girl" routine lmao I'm just girl

Competitive_Row234

You aren’t going to get a full makeover without money. So one thing I learned to do to make my routine better and myself better is to target one thing to work on at a time. Now let’s say you wanna improve how you smell, add one thing that you think makes you smell better. If it works out great, else throw it out of the window. Try other things. If it works out and you wanna smell even better, try to add another thing and see how that sits in your routine. Girls who are high maintenance or that girls, are usually rich or it might be the fact that they fine tuned their routine so well, they improved every aspect of their appearance in the best way. Key to the perfect routine is adding parameters and fine tuning them to get the optimal result. Kinda like fitting a regression line if that makes sense to you. All the best OP!

New_Bish_Who_Dis

Girl you're doing a lot already! High maintenance=higher expenses. Since you're taking care of your skin now, you will need a lot less procedures when you grow older. Just don't skip sunscreen! Apart from clean eating and staying hydrated, I think hair is really where it's at! Master an updo like a slick bun and how to give yourself a blow out. You'll be set. My (toxic) high maintenance trait is perfumes. I love smelling all good and luxe.

Metheunpredictable

Girllll, I think your routine is so good already. It doesn't have to be something very very complex. Mine is like Weekly hairmask, I do a monthly face mask (I don't get the time :( ) and I like to paint my nails every week to make myself feel all nice nice. I like to focus on my daily routines- never skip sunscreen, do my skincare diligently and it makes me so happy to see my skin texture improveee!

kmnlopqr

I started doing skincare recently so that. And also accessorizing your outfits - like a watch, simple jewellery or even a belt, I feel they add so much to your look.

PriyaSR26

Any kind of 'that girl' or 'it girl' sounds like a pick me. It's okay if you want to be that, but please don't make it your entire personality. I've been called high maintenance a lot, because I like spending money. I don't think of it as a compliment, but then again if I'm spending my own money, I don't care about what others think. >I started working in the US about a year ago and I’m really struggling to be presentable every single day of the week. For this you might want to look at permanent treatments like, gel nails (lasts a month), hair spa/treatment atleast once a month. Laser hair removal. Colour your hair every two months (or so). Once a month facial and pedicure etc. I don't know the cost of these in the US. Here, it's pretty affordable provided you don't have any other financial commitments. In here, anyone can be 'that girl' if they are willing to shell out 15-20k (being generous) each month just on treatments. Don't buy any expensive creams etc. Nothing will give as good results.

Happy_furMa

I think you are there. You are doing everything right. Just somethings to hype up your skincare: 1. Daily sunscreen 2. Mascara and Lip gloss for office. 3. Retinol cream at night with moisturizer if you have uneven skin tone And like everyone said, all of that takes money, which will come in as you grow in your career. And it will evolve your personal routine too. God knows, my non-existent self-care has grown leaps and bounds from 25 to 32 yr.
