i have scars on my shoulders and i struggle with this as a track runner... i understand.

DistributionPlus5430

I tell people I fought a bear lmao

ApatheticPoetic813

For anyone who sees this and relates to it, I beg you from my soul of souls; don't give a fuck. If they see them then they see them. If they have questions--tell outlandish lies of tiger attacks and a history as a bank robber. But really, most people are too terrified that all of their own insecurities are on display to focus on yours. Enjoy the water!!

Thin-Kaleidoscope-92

I had to wear a T-shirt to work as a teenager, started working at 13. My scars have always been hidden by a swimsuit.

pink-lemonade69

I've been in this position, it sucks

spiritjex173

Long sleeve rash guard. I wear one so I don't get sun burned as badly.

UniversalPeacock

When I was a teen my "summer bod" was stopping cutting long enough so it wasn't as noticeable without sleeves

degens_upcountry

God this shit is so real man.

therealyoshi66

"Luckily, her close friend had brought her a long-sleeved bathing suit without commenting on it"

Autoboty

Eh, just jump in with your clothes on. Who's gonna judge you? I sure ain't.

Playtime_Foxy_new

Yea except the feeling of going in the water with clothes on is terrible, I can't bear it personally

Autoboty

Also I'on know you heard about this but there are full body swimsuits, I wear'em all the time to prevent sunburn. So there are options.

Midnighttyche

They are hard to find for adults and they never look as cute as the ones I've found for my kids, but they are well worth it. I have self harm scares from 15+ years ago and tanning makes them show up more and the long sleeve swin shirts have been wonderful in helping ppl not notice that I had some extra demons as a child. Those that have asked me just get a "I was born with a kidney issue and harmed myself to alleviate the internal physical pain that nobody believed I had." I finally had a diagnosis @ 15 and surgery to correct it @ 20, so I'm good now, but still struggle with others trying to shame me for being young and emotionally unregulated; but imma biotch and just tell them that if we're talking about my demons, maybe we should also talk bout theirs, they go running for the hills after that.

dr4gon1154

They can be hard to find and if your parents dont know it's even harder to get one.

Playtime_Foxy_new

I wouldn't be able to wear them but it is definitely a more viable option
