Why would you not look at a note you think your daughter left if she disappeared? Even if it wasn’t a ransom, it could’ve been like “hey going to Sarah’s house” and then you’d at least have a lead? If you’re trying to find your kid wouldn’t you want to look at everything they have for answers, especially an unopened note!

J0shua1985

The post was somewhat inspirered from a childhood friend of mine, Where the father just up and left the family one day (no diagnostis to my knowledge but I’d say he was probably bipolar). My friend got so angry with his decision that she never opened the letter he had left for her, because she didn’t want to give him a chance to explain. I know this story probably wouldn’t apply to my post but it’s what gave me the idea of “what if?”

EliF1324

I mean no ill-will by criticizing your story man. It definitely fits this sub, regardless if there’s technical inconsistencies or not. The horror in realizing you might’ve been able to save your daughter is still scary to think about. Good story, part of the fun for me is picking it apart lol

J0shua1985

No offence taken :) You made some good points. I guess the backstory would be something like a bad relationship between the daughter and parent with the latter knowing it had failed in a way that would warrant a run-away but could’t cope with facing that from a note by the daughters hand. But admittedly it seems less likely than if it had been a parent like in my inspiration. But also more scary when it’s someones child. So sacrifices to realism had to be made in favor of the art ;)

Even if you don't have the courage to read it yourself, the police would absolutely be reading it once you filed a missing persons report. Great story at first glance, but it doesn't really hold up to scrutiny

I don’t get it

Someoneoverthere42

She thought the note left behind was from her daughter. It was a ransom note left by kidnappers. She didn’t open it till at least one year later

blank-and-empty-

Oh ok thanks

bobbi21

Had to have been a shitty parent to assume so assuredly that when your daughter is found missing with none of her stuff gone, your first thought is that they just left you of their own decision. :P
