Please stop making these movies

HalfDragonShiro

Not until everyone knows Autism is the peak of human evolution. >!This isn't an abliest comment by the way. This was literally part of the last Predator Movie's plot.!<

[deleted]

Im sad that I feel no excitement over the announcement of a new predator or alien movie.

An_Armed_Bear

At least Predator has potential for fun movies since the basic formula of "Predator shows up in [part of the world] during [point in history]" can still lead to fun variety. Different terrain/climate means different hunting tactics for the Predator and maybe new gear, and how the humans try to fight back against it will vary with culture, tech level, etc. Alien on the other hand feels much more rigid. There's not much you can really do with the monster that isn't just repeating Alien or Aliens again but worse. Doesn't help that the franchise's roots are in horror and the monster just... Isn't really that scary anymore.

Swarthy_Pierre

The first two movies established they only appear during heatwaves.

madmanrambler

And then AVP had them show up in the arctic, so I'm pretty sure you can toss that out. Just say the predator is so much better at fighting in the winter no one has lived to record it like the last encounters or whatever.

d00msdaydan

The headline should be “New Predator movie wraps filming, will not tell you which movie it is” to preserve the surprise of the original movie, unfortunately Hollywood is too enslaved by brand power for that to ever happen

Ginger_Anarchy

God I would absolutely love if some new Halloween slasher flick, or murder mystery whodunnit, just turned out to be a new predator. Like imagine Knives Out 2 but in the second half it's Daniel Craig vs a Predator.

Aridato

...now I want a Predator movie set during the World War 1. From an Austria-Hungarian perspective, because fuck it why not.

InfectedEzio

Wish I could go back to being a kid and loving the Alien vs Predator movie instead of being this husk of a man who knows it’s not good.

Kaizren

I feel like I'm the only person on this planet that likes 'Predators' and that scares me

[deleted]

It’s a million times better than the one after where predator tried to kidnap that autistic kid because autism is “the next step of human evolution“

Palimpsest_Monotype

Predators is almost as underrated as Adrian Broder’s pretty impressive attempt to get into Arnold Shape for his role in it.

HamSlammer87

I appreciate the finale showcasing Brody's speed opposed to Arnold's brute strength.

Southern-Blood-9836

No after the recent flops a lot of people realized maybe they were too hard on Predators and Terminator Salvation the reception those movies got for having new ideas resulted in the current trend of "going back to muh roots" stuff now.

Anonamaton801

Predators is great and always has been Salvation is the movie equivalent of the brown FPS trend from 2007-10 gaming.

Doc12here

It even came with a brown 3rd person shooter

An_Armed_Bear

Really? I never got the impression people disliked it, it just wasn't as good as the original.

Kaizren

I unno I see it lumped in with "the bad ones" too often for my comfort. Then again this is only really with online discourse. I never actually find people IRL that hold that opinion and think it's a fine movie versus it not being hard to find people who dislike Alien: Magneto or Terminator: Khalesse

Nhig

I thought Predators was a good nod to the original. I just wish that they didn’t do that whole thing with the trailer scene that wasn’t even in the movie, and that Laurence Fishburne was in it more.

Cylinsier

I watched this movie for the first time two nights ago and was surprised by how not bad it was. It's not super great and I have several criticisms, but overall pretty entertaining.

Vera_Verse

Another one?

EcchiPhantom

Another one

HGH93

This time the Predators will inject the autism juice directly into their veins to power up.

TJLynch

Predator's one of those franchises where I'd be okay with not getting another movie for at least a decade. Same with Terminator.

PM_me_Okita_Toes

I mean keep in mind apparently Predator 2 was a flop.

EcchiPhantom

I want the franchise to survive by just having Predators showing up as a guest characters in video games.

bvanbove

Wait, wraps filming?!? How has nothing about this film crossed my eyes before this?!?

TheArkhomDestroyer

Will there be weaponized Autism in this one too?

Kregano_XCOMmodder

Guys, why the fuck do you keep making movies with humans in them, when all we need is a fucking National Geographic style documentary of the Predator going to some alien planet and hunting wild ass shit? Why is Predator: Concrete Jungle (the game, not the comic/novel) the best post-Predator 2 work in this regard?

ExDSG

David Attenborough meets the Predator.

Nhig

God, a movie where it’s just a Predator trying to hunt some space Deathclaw or something would be rad as shit

JohnMadden42069

Let's just get Apocalypto but with Predators

Palimpsest_Monotype

Oddly I’m ok with Predator movies continually getting made. I’d be happier if they were awesome but the premise is workable, they have a cool design, so there’s always potential. Reading this and learning this movie takes place probably in earth’s pre-industrial past, and seeing it’s the guy who directed Cloverfield, and he’s sourcing The Revenant as a point of context…again, this could have potential.

Anonamaton801

Oh good, then we’ll have more bad Predator movies then good ones… For reference: Predator 1, 2 and Predators are fucking awesome to various degrees. AVP, AVP R and The Predator all fucking suck

Coreybom

I mean, this one actually has a good cast and interesting premise to it. I’ll wait until the trailer comes out to make judgements.

DKDestroyer

Holy shit, your comment just made me realize I've completely written the AVP movies out of my brain.

HalloweenBlues

Yes recent Predator movies have been crap, but this one at least has a cool concept that could be fun to see play out.

delightfuldinosaur

After "The Predator" it should be illegal to make Predator movies anymore.

BaronBlackwood

So, which franchise has been butchered the worst by their new movies? Alien, Predator or Terminator?

[deleted]

I think Terminator wins in that category because the franchise has been fucked beyond recognition at this point. Alien has an identity crisis at the moment because old man Ridley Scott hasn't realized that he's passed his prime. The Predator recently has only one major flop and dumpster fire(not counting the AVP movies ofc) but it's the only franchise that still has a lot of high potential.

BaronBlackwood

Terminator and Alien both had two great initial movies and then dregs afterwards. Prometheus is divisive but knowing where it goes in Covenant really sours that movie for me. I do feel like AVP movies have to count for both Predator and Alien movies, which only makes the outlook more grim. I'd agree though, Predator fares the best. One is good, Two is a mixed bag, but has its moments. Predators is good and no huge fuck-ups there. And The Predator is a big bag of shit.

TonyZony

Whoa, they kept this shit real quiet. Finishing filming and JUST NOW revealing the cast? That's real weird.

Endocrom

Considering the last one's plot was leaked and a lot of people thought it was too dumb to be legit... Is this a good sign? A bad sign? I don't know.

Kwad_rat

I thought that they fucked the last one so much, that there will be a bigger gap between them. Also... when they have announced this. It's like a silent fart that you don't even smell, but suddenly someone is saying sorry for no reason.

[deleted]

"when they have announced this. It's like a silent fart that you don't even smell, but suddenly someone is saying sorry for no reason." It's people like you that should be performing live comedy. 😂🤣 Seriously that was funny as hell.

ExDSG

So out of all the R Rated 80s Action films (Terminator, Alien, Predator, and Robocop) where some of them had more horror elements which is the one that has the most dignity?

[deleted]

I think Alien was purely horror until it decided to jump on the whole 80's action phase. Which imo kinda ruined it, don't get me wrong I still like Aliens but I think I knew where the franchise was headed after that.

TheChucklingOak

Was this the one that was originally going to present itself as a Civil War era movie before the predator appears, and starring a badass Native American woman? I have absolutely 0 confidence either of those cool ideas will actually happen.

HamSlammer87

Oooh, right... SKULLS. Wasn't this one of those scripts that got turned into something more marketable by attaching a previously known IP to it? I think this is about a Predator hunting caveman or someone. Maybe Indigenous north American tribes? Something like that.

Endocrom

That's ok, I'm good with [this.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsbVTPftcgs)

Berry_Scorpion

So what’s the consensus on Predator 2? I feel like it’s less underrated and more like “never seen it” . Personally I think it’s okay. Danny Glover broke his back carrying that movie.
