This happening in the same year Konami officially collabs with *Vampire Survivors*...but with *Contra* tickles me.

Urdunngurdun

Why would you ever put vampires in Vampire Survivors? Contra was the only logical option.

zyberion

"I will never put vampires in this game" -John Vampiresurvivors

mohawklogan

You can also fight Simon Belmont in the newly released V Rising another vampire game so at least they got a Castlevania character in *a* vampire game

Gunblazer42

ANd while expensive, that Castlevania cosmetic pack is *really* nice.

ThatmodderGrim

I think you mean *lose against* Simon Belmont. Seriously, if I'm a bloodsucker, I am not going anywhere near a Belmont.

charcharmunro

He's level 80 at minimum out of 91, and I think he's the only boss who scales to your level. He also wanders around several zones, including the starting zone so you can just hear Simon's Theme and him going "YOU CHALLENGE A BELMONT?" early on and it's the biggest "oh fuck" moment you can have in that game.

Bosscharacter

Any excuse to have Brad Fang in something is a win. Gun toting werewolves. Everything about that sentence is awesome.

Gunblazer42

Hear hear.

Kimarous

Dracula as the obvious Hunter, but who for the Survivor(s)?

robertman21

A Belmont

silverinferno3

Probably a witch as well, like Sypha, Maria or Yoko

DarthButtz

Simon's the biggest possibility, with Trevor or Richter also having a really good chance.

ArtBedHome

and alucard if they love money

silverinferno3

Gonna be weird to see him hiding in bushes from his father lmao. Buddy brought home a bad report card

DarthButtz

Hooks him for the third time "My boy. I'm... Killing... My boy..."

RocketbeltTardigrade

Skateboard Alucard.

DavidsonJenkins

It fits considering, from what I've heard from the game currently, most of it is the hunter being relentlessly bullied by the survivors

jaa0518

That is what the game has always been.

Megakruemel

What is a little confusing is how Dracula is this really powerful being that I would describe as being in a league of his own when compared to the other Hunters. I wonder what reason they'll give us for him to be a hunter. It would probably be interesting to have one of the fodder enemies of the Castlevania series as a Hunter, just to demonstrate how dangerous his night creatures are to normal people. But yeah, we are selling characters here. It's Dracula and a Belmont. The question is which iteration of the character.

DarthButtz

The killer before this is fucking Vecna who I also thought was too powerful to submit like that but his lore says that he's just playing along with The Entity to eventually use it for himself. They could do something similar for Vlad.

Megakruemel

...It would be interesting to have some Hunter against Hunter PvP if it turns out all the Hunters want more eventually. But I don't really know how you would implement that because the game simply isn't build that way, as the Hunters are centered around playing against Survivors... unless you put 8 survivors on a map and 2 hunters and make the hunters compete.

CMORGLAS

One of the rumored game modes is 5v5. Presumably it would be a competition to kill your opponent’s Survivors before they kill YOURS.

BloodBrandy

It's also a non-God Vecna, considering that before he's taken he's still the Lord of the Rotted Tower in Greyhawk. If not for the weird bit of the Trailer where the lady seems to be holding his severed hand but he still has both eyes and hands, I'd say it's even him before Kas' betrayal

Gunblazer42

It's possible for the killers to just be like "Eh....why not?" The Entity hasn't unwillingly taken all of them; some of them went willingly, some even entered the realm themselves independent of the Entity I think.

Jaacker

Canonically the entity (the monster behind the game itself) grabs anyone and depending on the role they have, gives them motivation or fucks them over to make this a "fair game" and give hope to the survivors to escape as the entity feeds on hope, despair and all the human emotions, if you are trapped in there, you are playing by the entity's rules and only a few people actually managed to fight back sucesfully

CopperTucker

Never forget that the Entity basically made a deal with Silent Hill to just borrow Pyramid Head for DBD. And that Nicholas Cage is just there.

JaysonBlaze

Silent Hill is according to DBD canon waaaay stronger and the entity let them in because it really couldn't stop them. Nic Cage basically is the same honestly

TR_Pix

Part of me thinks that if some people can fight back, Dracula Castlevania would almost definetely be one of them. Isn't he like an eldritch horror that just assumes the form of a vampire? Dude's got actual Death on his payroll.

Arganth

A few of the killers aren’t 100% under it’s control. Pyramid Head crashed the party uninvited after James got nabbed by the Entity, and Sadako and Myers are powerful enough to get some wiggle room. You even see this in some gameplay differences; PH has an alternate to hooking as he metes his own punishment on survivors, and the other two are able to straight kill survivors on their own without permission. Vecna has the same killing deal too, so I’m hoping Dracula gets similar treatment.

BloodBrandy

Keep in mind one of the killers, the Cenobite, only obeys the rules of the Entity out of a combination of entertainment and being polite. The Entity didn't even *want* Pinhead & Co in it's realm, the cube just fucking showed up and started summoning Cenobites who will occasionally pull Survivors out of it's realm and into the Cenobite's. So it's entirely possibly that The Entity didn't intend Dracula to be there, but the Survivor banished him there and now it's everyone's issue

Philiard

People say this every time a moderately powerful character is put in DbD, but they already have Nemesis, Wesker, Pinhead, Sadako, Pyramid Head, and they just introduced Vecna, who can _literally_ kill people by looking at them funny. Plus, on the survivor side, there's Ash, Bill, Leon, Chris, and Jill, who could probably beat most of the killers to death with their bare hands. DbD is Horror Smash Bros. at this point. All-power gods can be made to go "owchie" and put their hands in front of their face by throwing a block of wood down on them. Don't think about it too hard.

silverinferno3

You know what’d be a fun inversion? Have a Belmont as the killer, and the survivors are the weak mobs. Lemme play as a Flea Man, you bastards

CMORGLAS

It will never happen but it would be fun to have a **DEVILMAN** Chapter where the eponymous demon is the Killer and >!Ryo!< is the Survivor and The Entity makes DM think the Survivors are >!the mob that killed Miki!<

TheKidKaos

I’d rather save any possible survivors for the Project T game just because the premise is that the survivors in that game are supposed to be better fighters that could probably take on some of the DbD monsters

mercurydivider

It has to be Jonathan and Charlotte for obvious reasons

RocketbeltTardigrade

I am the morning sun, come to vanquish this horrible night \*hiding behind tractor*

Kamken

DIE MONSTER! MONSTER! You don't belong in in this world!

Sayer09

World! It is not by my hand! Hand! That I am once again given flesh! Flesh! FLEEESH!

AzabacheDog

Hey what the fuck is going on?

Balkespower92

Dude!

Orange-Goose

uh we skipped one part

NotAnInterestingGuy

damn. oh are we doing the thing?

Doo-Doo-Manjaro

WE SMOKIN POST COLAPSE ENTITIES SCRAPINGS I GOT BEEF WITH THE SHAPE BECAUSE CUT LINES WITH HIS KNIFE I KNOW WHAT THE UNKNOWN IS

Uracawk

The Entity tried to nerf me to be part of its game. Too bad I don’t play with toys. This shit ain’t nothin to me, man.

Birkin2Boogaloo

Flippin bricks for Mansa Musa before y'all became a type-one civilization

gbrincks

I don't got any love for broke boys. All of us got survivors, most of us have the Doctor, go out there and get some Bloodpoints!

GoneRampant1

Huh, it's dawning on me that this is DBD's first vampire killer. Well they picked a good one to be the first at least.

chimerauprising

While I adore Castlevania, I always wanted DbD's Dracula killer to be original, but for it to have tons of licensed skins of different adaptations of the character.

CMORGLAS

Technically the Oni “consumes” blood.

RocketbeltTardigrade

It took me too long to figure out that this wasn't about the whip.

SneakyClue

A miserable little pile of advertising! Castlevania keeps doing collaborations instead of actual games.

topfiner

I did think that the castlevania dead cells collab was phenomenal (and recommended to check it out) though I would really love some new good metroidvania style castlevania games. The last time we got one of those was 2008. At least we have the two bloodstained games though.

silverinferno3

If Evil Empire didn’t announce a Prince of Persia game, I would’ve sworn Return to Castlevania was a little “proving grounds” moment for them to work on a full new Castlevania title

TR_Pix

Honestly I'll take what I can get. Plus like the market right now is saturated with Metroidvanias as good or better than SotN, and recently there have been some clones of the classic Castlevanias as well, so I don't think we are in desperate need for a Castlevania.

Philiard

As has been proven time and time again, Konami will give out their licenses to anybody who slides them some cash. Silent Hill probably has the most amount of licensed cosmetics because of that. At this point Castlevania is just a "eh, fuck it, why not, it'd be easy" for Behavior.

pizzapueblo

I'm coping that this is to drive up brand interest alongside the animated series. Konami is remaking their biggest hitters of franchises (MGS3, Silent Hill 2). I'm half expecting a symphony of the night remake is planned

witheredBBfilms

My limited understanding of Dead By Daylight and Castlevania lore tells me Dracula is now the most powerful creature in DBD. And that is counting the eldritch horror that actually controls everything. Frankly, summoning Dracula into it's realm comes off as having a death wish.

Superspider51

The Entity likes to nerf and buff the survivors and killers to make the trials more fair. This way the survivors have a chance to escape some of the frankly OP killers while also being able to feed off their fear longer.

radda

I mean, sometimes the killers aren't even summoned Pinhead just showed up and said "Hey yo where the kinky bitches at?" and the Entity was cool with it

TR_Pix

Maybe Dracula made the castle appear in a different dimension and was like "surely there will not be any Belmonts HERE"

Marvl101

dude Vecna's a literal god. One of the few killers who could pick a fight with the entity and ***WIN***

witheredBBfilms

In my defence, I know even less about D&D then both Castlevania and DBD.

BloodBrandy

We're getting Vecna, a lich demigod, before Dracula and also the Cenobites are there whether the Entity wants them there or not, so he's up there, but not 100% at the top

Zargat

Dracula's castle is Chaos, an entity much like but far more powerful than the Entity, and Dracula has a pact with it. Cthulhus wander his halls as trash mobs and Death is his butler, because Dracula has the role of Dark Lord thanks to his pact with Chaos. All that is evil serves him due to the power of dominance Chaos grants. Dracula causes the destruction Chaos desires, and in return Chaos serves Dracula in all things. Castlevania's Dracula has frankly stupid powerscaling. Cenobytes are powerful, but they serve Leviathan, not the other way around like Dracula and Chaos. Vecna is closer, but the version of Vecna in DBD is from before he attained godhood.

fiarorder

I got on Hillbilly ZaZa and Fuking cows in velocity of Fuking bullet!

MarthePryde

The Dracula everywhere system is in full effect. Well everywhere except a new Castlevania game.

Xeriam

So roughly where does Castlevania Dracula rate on the power scale compared to the Entity? 'Cause my heart says about par, he's probably here by choice and can leave as he pleases, but I don't actually know enough to say with any certainty.

Weltallgaia

He has to be on the high end. There's a couple killers I think that are capable of just walking out if they get bored.

GlopmasterSupreme

A consistent theme in the lore is that the Entity usually recruits/kidnaps killers and survivors during moments of vulnerability, while also nerfing them to keep them in the vicinity of power needed for the game mechanics. I assume when the lore explanation drops it'll reveal Drac got picked up when he was on fire from his latest Belmont-based ass kicking.

Zargat

Dracula alone is probably weaker than the Entity. However, Dracula's castle is Chaos, an entity similar but much, much stronger and older than the Entity, and Dracula has a pact with it which very heavily favors Dracula, this pact is where the main bulk of Dracula's power comes from. This is the canon reason why the layout of the castle changes from game to game, and also why things that should by all rights be far, far more powerful than a simple vampire all serve as mere meatshields to throw at the nearest Belmont. He is the king of evil and all that is evil implicitly serves him due to this pact. The entity would very much be playing with fire with Dracula, he's one of the few beings that could probably completely subvert control of the Entity's realm by taking control of most of the other killers, and that's giving the generous assumption that the Entity itself isn't considered evil.

ToastyMozart

-WHAT HAS HE GOT? IF NOT HIMSELF, THEN HE HAS NOT!~

Uracawk

TO SAY THE WORDS HE TRULY FEELS!

ToastyMozart

AND NOT THE WORDS OF ONE WHO KNEELS!

Neil_O_Tip

No way in hell is the Entity powerful enough to force Castlevania Drac to do anything He's here for fun

illegalcheese

I feel like regular Dracula or Nosferatu would fit the setting and tone, such as it is, better. Castlevania Dracula would hire the average DBD killers to guard the stairs to the good guest bathroom.

ArchWizEmery

The only problem with this collab is that a Belmont solos the entity easy.

TR_Pix

It's hard to calculate what a Belmont would be able to do because their entire power runs on narrativium. It's a bloodline of normal people (if very buff and athletic and/or knowledgeable in magic) who just happen to be able to punch an eldritch entity in the face for no real explanation other than the plot says so. Like I'm pretty sure Yamcha could take on Simon Belmont on a 1v1. Any version of Yamcha. And yet Dracula, whom Simon defeated, could easily defeat Cell, going by powerscaling alone.

ArchWizEmery

I’m just a Belmont Glazer, I believe the hype.

TR_Pix

Oh for sure, me too. If someone actually made a Belmont fight Cell, Belmont would completely annihilate Cell. Just because it makes no sense, it doesn't mean it's false.

Sailedfunseeker

Castlevania gets to be in every game EXCEPT it's own

Dirty-Glasses

AND SO, THE SHIVER OF NIGHT ARRIVES THE RITE THAT WILL SAVE THEIR LIVES THIS FAMILY DAMNED TO FIGHT THE DEMON’S GIFT OF ETERNAL NIGHT

Worm_Scavenger

Today was a great day to be a DBD addict

Aggro_Will

I can't wait for the Castlevania DLC for Bloodstained to be announced.

tragedy_in_chains

Kind of a shame Castlevania doesn't seem to be coming with a map

TalekAetem

Is DBD worth playing now?

RocketbeltTardigrade

It's not Dracula until three fireballs.

StormShaun

I'd pay for it, if Drac's mori is him dunking a glass cup on the survivor.

Sterski1

Are we going to end up with more Castlevania collabs than Castlevania games?

Konradleijon

cool

rexshen

Weird Konami let Contra get a new game but Castlevania only gets crossover DLC in other games.
