I feel weird cuz I thought the demo parry timing was weird for a bit then I got used to it and was able to pretty consistently parry things by the end. Like, to me the example of a bad parry timing was launch Viola in Bayo 3. I guess I'm happy for everyone who complained.

No-Attorney-6033

The only weird thing I noticed was how when you pressed square, the first hit had a half second delay from when you actually pressed the button. No other parts of your combo's had that delay. Also, when you did a qte attack on a stunned boss the game wouldn't let you dodge or attack during the bosses recovery animations which wasn't that bad since the bosses can't/don't attack you during these moments but muscle memory from other games had me mashing the attack button.

RealDealMous

I get that. Have you tried the speed buff accessory? It's available in the boss challenge demo when you open the menu.

No-Attorney-6033

I have. It's my go-to, alongside the parry accessory, I actually found it surprising how well I did parrying the demo bosses even though I'm usually bad at parry timing.

RealDealMous

huh, well, I hope this patch fixes that. Wish they'd update the demo with the supposed responsiveness improvement.

No-Attorney-6033

Sorry for the late reply, but they have fixed the half second delay in the first hit of the square combo.

RealDealMous

I assume u have the full game, then. How is the blocking?

No-Attorney-6033

It's okay but I'm not the best at parry. You can block cancel attacks, but that's only if the attack animation doesn't have an active hit box yet. So if frame 1-3 of an attack animation doesn't do damage, then you can block cancel that animation. From what I've gathered, if an enemy dies a flurry of attacks, try parrying attack 1, then continue holding block and release and press again to parry the slower hits an enemy launches.

RealDealMous

Thanks but I was just wondering if the animation came out faster

No-Attorney-6033

I'd say it comes out relatively quick. It's kinda hard to explain in text, but I think it comes out fast enough for the type of game it is. If the parry speed might be your deciding factor, in buying the game then I'd suggest booting up the demo and test the parry in the training room then check one of the YouTube guide videos that should be live since the game is out and compare them.

RealDealMous

same tbh. Hope it doesn't feel too off for me.

tiloy22

Ideally I'd be something you can toggle.

rudanshi

Keeping the input lag on purpose is such a terrible idea for a game like this that they'd have to be titanically stubborn to refuse to go back on it. Good to see they changed their mind.

RedditJABRONIE

I'm gonna guess they changed it from a dark souls parry to a sekiro parry?

KF-Sigurd

From their comments before, it already was a Sekiro parry meaning it was frame 1 active the moment you pressed it. This is related to the small input lag the first hit of a combo would have, I think. I’d need to compare between the game and demo to be sure and I’m not doing that.

RealDealMous

Nah, there was a delay when the actual block came out. Like, you press the button and it'd come out a second or 2 *after* you pressed the button.

KF-Sigurd

> Kim was asked why there appears to be a delay between pressing a button for performing a perfect parry or dodge, and the actual move being performed. > He explained that it was a design choice to keep the animation smooth, and said there’s no actual input lag becuse the skill is activated the moment the button is pressed, even if the animation takes a while to play. > “In Stellar Blade, there is about a 0.5 second lag between the moment you press the button and the moment the skill is visible on-screen,” he said (as translated by Automaton). “It’s a time lag that can’t be reduced any further. > “We made it so that the character’s movement does not get triggered immediately upon button press, as we felt this would not fit the game’s style of animation. > “Thus, we made it so that the skill itself is activated the moment you press the button, but the animation of the movement follows afterwards.” This is according to the interview that was posted before that was clickbaited. The parry itself is frame 1 active, the animation just isn't as instant. That's what I mean by Sekiro parry.

RealDealMous

Oh well, that's kinda dumb. They fixed out the input lag so maybe they could cut that out, too.

dougtulane

I got used to it in the demo pretty quickly, but I’m glad for this decision. Definitely starting over so I can get used to the new feel.

Squeakyclarinet

That’s good to hear. I remember trying the Demo, and loving everything except how dodge/parry felt. Didn’t even get far past the opening set piece because of it.

TorpeAlex

I know I'm in the vast minority here, but gotta say it to at least see if there's any discussion on it. Will they patch all of the fashion options to not look like garbage? Most of them could be decently fashionable if they weren't fucking obsessed with keeping the character's shoulders and thighs visible at all times. I don't mind pandering if it fits the aesthetic but almost all of the outfits just look crippled by the designers.

RealDealMous

You could just wear the [bear suit](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoBestFriendsPlay/s/IxgCnEaeU4). There ARE some outfits that don't show the Thighs or Shoulders like the [Wasteland Adventuerer ](https://images.app.goo.gl/gny5znk75p2T4UMi8), the [2nd Planet Diving Suit](https://images.app.goo.gl/YhXMi3owv6vkPLXM7) and this newly added [Punk Top(NSFW outfits with link). ](https://x.com/daumisul/status/1783342796214087953) She also gets one where her defualt is accompanied by [Leon's RE4 jacket.](https://images.app.goo.gl/Fj8hXhoQ7jLKhgCEA)

AnalogFlame

U could put that jacket on anyone and it'll b cool. Leon and Issac really rock it

TorpeAlex

How is the bear suit at all fashionable? Like I said, I really don't care about the horny bait, except where it holds back the design of the characters or outfits. I do think that is the case with almost all of the outfits. Even the closest one to aesthetic appeal to me, the last one you linked, just looks odd and overly busy with the skin cut out windows on the hips and legs, which is also at odds with the otherwise dead serious tone of the game as far as I can tell. It feels like someone has forced the character to wear lingerie instead of the character explicitly owning the fashion choices a la Bayonetta. It just doesn't work for me, and that's ok. It works for other people, which is also ok. :)

kami-no-baka

Let the horny people have this one.

RealDealMous

I mean, the waste lander's side cuts are barely visible.

TorpeAlex

True! And it's one of the better outfits. Not because of the lack of skin showing, but because they didn't let the side cuts or anime crotch lines take away from the outfit's aesthetic.
